We live nearby, across the border in Germany - and were curious to experience this hotel, which is one of the largest hotels offering spa treatments etc. in this historical 'spa triangle' of north-western Czech republic. We chose one of the higher-end rooms since we heard that this would mean having your meals in a special smaller, higher-quality restaurant (the 'blue saloon'). The room was huge - very clean and comfortable - although it didn't have a shower (?!), which we found strange, given that the facility had a major overhaul not so long ago. As some other reviews suggested, the impression we had was of a 'sanatorium-hotel' - i.e. the majority of guests staying there at the time were there for the various treatments and to avail of the famous (but medically unproven) 'radon baths'. We were curious about that aspect - but were mainly interested in spending a relaxing few days in a nice hotel, with nice surroundings. Which was certainly an issue - Jachymov turned out to be a rather run-down and shabby small town, with absolutely nothing else interesting to offer. We ended up going on day trips to nearby Carlsbad (beautiful old Europe style - plenty of great hotels - the fantastic GRAND HOTEL PUPP, similarly priced as the RADIUM PALACE - will definitely be our choice next time) and into the hills of Western Bohemia. - Not to forget however: by far the best experience at the RADIUM PALACE was the food; as predicted by friends, the meals, including service and atmosphere, in the BLUE SALOON were excellent, we really enjoyed that part.

The spa experience was great! I have upper back pain and I was given a treatment plan which I followed there. Although I did not understand what I was going through or how it would help because of the language barrier, I liked it. I went into daily radon baths, which to this day I still don't understand. The massages were great, best massages I ever gotten. It was just heaven! It was very affordable in comparison to international prices. That is my favorite part about it, is that you got to be pampered and to relax and didn't have to spend all that much. The hotel bar has great food! I especially liked the broccoli and white sauce pasta they served. It over looked a great view of the mountains! The bartender was really nice, he for one understood english which seemed to be rare in the Czech as a whole. Sometimes the language barrier put me in irritating situations with the front desk which didn't seem to be helpful at all and didn't really bother to try to understand what I had to say at times. They really need to consider placing someone at the front desk that spoke English.

Hotel Vera was built in the year of 1903, originally known by the name of "Villa Heimgarten" it served for accommodation and relaxation of the increasing number of visitors following the re-discovery of Jáchymov's uranium in in 19th century. Although the land was annexed by Germany in 1938 the purpose of the building remained to accommodate Jáchymov visitors. In 1945 with post WWII Benes decrees the city returned under Czech Republic and shortly there-after become closed to visitors due to strategic uranium deposits. The Hotel was converted to fire station after 1948 nationalization and remained like that until early 2003 when the building was purchased by today's owner. Following full reconstruction it was re-open as Hotel Vera in 2015.

Hotel má výtahy, teď i novou recepci. Pokoje jsou zařízeny střídmě, ale pěkně. Vybaveny jsou ledničkou a televizí, každý pokoj má své sociální zařízení. Každý týden výměna povlečení a ručníků.

Small family hotel with restaurant Jáchym in the center of spa town Jáchymov near from ski resort Klínovec cca 2km. Bikers welcome...
Příjemná obsluha, vstřícnost i k dětem.

We stayed here for four nights in this hotel. A very enjoyable stay as we had a balcony which gave spectacular views over Jachymov and the Radium Palace. Staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us and even provided a lift back to Ostrov station at the end of our stay.

I took no treatments so can't rate those. Room is clean, airy, spacious, quiet; seems it's used to put up two strangers together: most everything is doubled up: lockable drawers, closets, safes, even double bathroom sinks ( no shower gel or shampoo- BYO), fridge in room, hairdryer at Reception. Staff helpful with local info: buses, events etc. Czech, Russian, German spoken; English not so. Evening entertainment (dancing) in this and nearby Hotels (free). Had me a HB, meals tasty, bit meagre on fruits and vegetables, positive feature: cold water and hot teas at dinner (rarity). Anywhere one goes from this Hotel it's always UP ( hills all around). Bus stop, supermarket, pharmacy, some shops very close by. Being a hiking addict this Hotel served me very well - whole area is crisscrossed with marked trails, for other purposes make your own judgement.

We did not live in this hotel, but we visited the restaurant at the hotel. The restaurants are excellent! Clean and cozy. Prices for food and drinks are low (eg a glass of beer from the draft 0.5 liter costs 40 Czech crowns - about 1.6 euros, the same is a glass of glintwine), and the quality of food is excellent. Restaurant and enjoy a great location, on a high hill with a great view of the forest. Next to the hotel is a good road from the highway, but around enough space to park any number of vehicles. Staff helpful and friendly. The original design of the restaurant is made in German or Czech style. A lot of wooden elements and a variety of ornaments. The very look of the hotel is pleasant, clean and tidy.
