Reviewed By Michael384Stayed one night on business in the area out of season. Staff very helpful, food in Bistro good and rooms very nice. Furthermore no cost for parking and breakfast excellent. All for a very competitive price. I wish all hotels were like this!

It's a hotel with limited amenities, comfortable and spectacular n eye catching view from hotel room. You have not extensive but decent buffet breakfast with good taste and nice staff around. The reception closes from 11pm to 7 am so plan your trip accordingly. No food joint or cafe near by .. all restaurants n cafe are near by train station.

We made a mistake and booked a room in another hotel (Hotel - Pizzeria Venezia) without realizing it was way too far from Idar Oberstein; btw manager at Venezia was super kind and allowed us to cancel without penalty (thank you again!). We booked a room at the Berghotel literally two hours before our arrival, and everything went smoothly and rushed free, Súper recommended

Great Family Run Hotel and Restaurant!
Reviewed By Mona SArrived after hours and the Owner came out and carried my bag up 2 flights of stairs. Room was very spacious and bathroom had a nice bathtub as well as shower. The room had a small sitting room with a TV. We had an extra room with a single bed if there were 3 of us. Wood floors and bedding was good. Over all very clean. Breakfast the next morning was great and they make your eggs to order. They spoke English very well and they have family in the US. Close to the little downtown area and within walking distance to the Church in the Rock and the Oberstein Castle. The lady at the Mineral Museum helped us find where are distant family lived. We had dinner there and ate their delicious Spiessbraten cooked on the wood fire. We had a beef and a pork steak. It was so great. We will be coming back here next year!

More than any old Gasthof
Reviewed By colindmairVery warm welcome from friendly hosts. Room very comfortable - spacious, with chairs and coffee table, chair and desk, and plenty of storage. Restaurant, closed on Mondays, is first class. Quality is excellent, choice is well beyond schnitzel and chips, and the wine list includes items beyond good local Nahe wines - we enjoyed a first class Zweigelt from Austria and an excellent Tuscan red (with tender and delicious local venison). Location is small village about 2 miles from Idar-Oberstein, up in the hills. Wonderful walking country. Idar has a wonderful gemstone museum, with a shop ideal for Christmas presents. Other semiprecious stone mining-related venues are fun and interesting. Highly recommended.

For an overnight stay after the whiskey tasting at kyrburg
Reviewed By Simon CWe booked a whiskey tasting at Kyrburg and decided to take advantage of the whiskey package of Hosser's Hotel. The package includes a shuttle service to and back from the Kyrburg Whiskey Tasting for 110 euro per room. We had two rooms. One was very spacy the other was normal sized. The sofa in the larger room and the general room design was not contemporary, however, for a hotel in this suburb area, I think it's okay. The restaurant entrance and the wintergarden/lounge smelled a little bit. The breakfast buffet was good and opulent. The staff was very friendly.

Die Villa Horbach wurde 1905 für Arthur Schmidt, den Inhaber der Metallwarenfabrik Theodor Schmidt, aus dem für Idar-Oberstein ungewöhnlichen Baumaterial Sandstein errichtet. Diese Villa wurde durch ein sehr nettes und sympathisches holländisches Ehepaar zu einem, wie ich finde, sehr geschmackvollen Hotel unter der Erhaltung von Teilen der originalen Bausubstanz als "Dekoelement" verwandelt worden ist. Ich bewohnte ein Doppelzimmer Superior. Es war ausgestattet mit Boxspringbett, Schreibtisch, 2 Sesseln mit kleinem Couchtisch, einem antiken holländischen Kissenkommode, einem kleine Retrokühlschrank und Fernseher. Man kann zurecht sagen, alt meets neu, aber in einer sehr stimmigen Kombination. Das Zimmer war sehr ruhig. Da ich leider keine Zeit hatte, am nächsten Morgen das Frühstück im Hotel einzunehmen, haben mir die Inhaber ein liebevoll zusammengestelltes, leckeres Lunchpaket gerichtet. Ich habe meinen Aufenthalt sehr genossen und würde durchaus wieder dort übernachten.

We were offered the local specialty, Spiessbraten, for dinner - beef and pork, stuffed with onions and marinaded before being cooked over a beech wood fire. Absolutely delicious. Inexpensive but comfortable overnight accommodation.
