Growing Pains
Reviewed By RAH4This is the newest and nicest hotel in Huangshi. It follows the Wanda concept of locating a hotel next to a Wanda Mall. The location is sort of out of the way but if you are looking for a 5 star in Huangshi this is the place to go. The buffet breakfast is nice. We had poor experiences with lunch and dinner. The mall next door has an extremely nice and spacious Starbucks, a Pizza Hut, McDonalds, KFC and Dairy Queen. The top floor is 90% restaurants of many different types. The mall is new and so are the restaurants so some of them probably will not last long. We had many business meetings in the lobby and the adjacent lobby lounge. The staff was so new and inexperienced they did not know how to open a bottle or pour a drink. So after the first night I just took care of that. Hopefully things are better now. We had a very bad experience with a hotel car. I had meetings scheduled one after another and was scheduled to depart at 9:00 AM. When we arrived we were told the driver took another party ahead of us and would be back by 10:00 AM. They hoped I didn't mind. I thought I would have a stroke and had to reschedule my entire day's meetings. When I talked to the general manager he shrugged his shoulders. We checked out the next day and found a local car service that was dependable and less money. I have stayed at 2 other Wanda Hotels and had poor experiences at both of them. But if you really want the closest thing to a 5 Star in Huangshi this is it. We will not be back.

Basic hotel
Reviewed By hughs289I am a westerner so I think i should say that first. The basics are ok. But nothing more. We stayed at this hotel for a week because close to my wifes family home. The rooms are clean, nice size, beds are ok. A little harder than I would expect for western standard. But for Chinese people that are use to very hard beds, they are fine. Nice shower, good water pressure and temperature, but the door on shower did not fit good so floor in bathroom always wet. Tile floor so very slippery. I just got home from huangshi and it was hot. There was some air conditioning in the hotel, but not much. We could not get our room to under 28C. So that was tough to sleep in. They were having trouble with it and they were trying to fix. The breakfast was very poor. I lived of course, little bit of noddles and fresh eggs and watermelon is enough. Lots of Chinese options on breakfast menu but even wife said they were not that good. I was there a week and tried to get them to make just black coffee, but they would not. I guess if I'm only guy why would they? Just get a single cup coffee maker for breakfast then no worries. A few little extra things they could do would make this a great place. And they have done the expensive stuff. It's the cheap stuff that they could do very easy now that would make difference. One English channel on television would be nice. BBC or something. Room price was enough for not having much air conditioning, and poor breakfast.

Reviewed By Peter KOne of the dirtiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. You can only describe the carpet as filthy. Spilt drinks, cigarette burns, spit, vomit & who knows what other body fluid stains on the carpet and furniture. Moved the couch to retrieve our kids toy and discovered cigarette butts, banana peel, hair, food scraps and months of dust & grime built up.
