The hotel is very clean and it has good facilities. Great pool and waterslide. A good place for families. The breakfast was excellent and the dining area was spacious. The whole hotel seemed very clean and well maintained ... But there were a few issues: We stayed in a one bedroom suite... All the one bedroom suites are in the basement so don't expect a view... just. window well to look out on. The suite included a large entrance room with adjacent bathroom.. this room had two large pull out couches along one wall but there were no side tables, lamps etc. If you use the pullout couches for a bed you find yourself stumbling in the dark to find a light switch. There is no closet or wardrobe in the first room. There is a nook that is obviously meant to be a closet but no hangers or even a rod for hangers. A rod and a few hangers would fix that. That room has a large TV but for some reason the kitchenette (microwave/fridge/Sink) is in the second bedroom area. If you've put the kids to bed in the bedroom you have no access to the kitchen. The bedroom area is set up well with bedside tables, lamps and a wardrobe. The one thing that was missing in this large suite was any sort of table to eat at. There was lots of room in either of the two rooms for a table where you could eat at. The Hotel needs to rethink basic furniture available in this suite... They. call them a family suite but things aren't set up well for a family. In our room there was a cover that had fallen off the floor register laying with sharp metal sides. I asked the desk for someone to fix that. In 48 hours nothing was done about that. I asked for a lamp for next to one of the pull out couches and in 48 hours that wasn't provided. Staff indicated at checkout that they didn't have maintainance available on the weekend. The breakfast area had a separate room with all the food services... except for a coffee bar and the cinnamon buns which were in the large dining area. The room where you got your food was limited to 5 people at a time . In that room was a single pancake machine and people had to wait for pancakes... that meant people had to wait outside the food room for many minutes while the 5 people inside waited for their pancakes to cook... A common sense answer would be to move the pancake machine out into the dining area... where the cinnamon buns were... everything else has no hold up... really frustrating to have to line up behind 15 people and wait 10 minutes to get a refill of juice because 5 people are waiting for a pancake and that means no-one else is allowed in. The one attendant at the breakfast area was harried... She was trying to limit the number of people in the food area while responsible for refilling all the supplies... With a full hotel the breakfast experience was frustrating and some simple solutions could have sped up the line a lot. Pool was nice and great for kids..only issue was there wasn't adequate supply of pool towels when we were there. I got the sense that there was a problem getting enough staff to take care of some details ... Front desk staff was friendly and said they would take care of issues but they just didn't get done. Quite a few times there was no-one at the desk. A sign said they were gone for 5 minutes... I think the front desk staff had to take care of any service requests which left the front desk without staff.

I came in later in the evening. Front counter lady was helpful. Room was clean. Bed comfortable. Only issue I had was I could not get the TV to work. For the price of my stay which was under $100 can’t beat it

We had booked a room at another hotel, when we got there the elevator was not working and the manager was rude. We arrived at the Hinton Lodge unexpectedly and without a reservation and were treated so well. Summer assured us that we would be impressed with the Lodge and we were. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was delightful. Our room even had an amazing view.

Stayed at two different Holiday Inns in Alberta in one week but two contrasting experiences! This Hinton location needs substantial renovations if they don't want to spoil the Holiday Inn name. Stained and smelley carpets with stained bath tub. I always try to stay in Holiday Inns as they always maintain a certain standard. But not this one. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. The franchisor should inspect this hotel to continue to operate it under their name. Good service at the reception is not good enough to enjoy a stay if the rooms are bad.

So love this small motel! Basic amenities for anyone who doesn't require a spa or a pool or a "continental" breakfast for that matter. Apparently he does have suites with stove/fridge? I'm not sure, because we've never needed that. Clean and comfy and conveniently located right off the highway on the west end of town. The owner/manager is kind and courteous and will do what he can to help you if you need any help. Plan to return again in the fall!
