This idyllic new retreat on the outskirts of Srinagar evokes the beauty of the main Himalayan range and Vale of Kashmir. This 33 room, luxury boutique resort is the brainchild of the Rah family – Nazir, Katherine and their two children, — an ode to the Kashmir they love. Built from locally quarried granite, native cedar wood and traditional Kashmiri brickwork, the resort is exquisite in its contradictions – modern yet traditional, simple yet intricate. It has a distinctive character with its chalet style units with Alpine influences, set over 3 acres, within an apple orchard, framed by towering poplars. It pays homage to the Mughal gardens and historical buildings of the area, and the Kashmiri detailing is inescapable. An open air swimming pool with a hot tub; restaurants with ample outdoor seating and incredible views serve delightful meals: a gym and snooker room. Added to this are sprawling gardens, picturesque views of the Dal and Nageen lakes and the Zabarwan Mountains as the backdrop, make this resort an ideal getaway and a place that you might never want to leave. Snow Leopard Lodge is owned and run by Manzoor and Jill Billoo. It is situated in the village of Chandpora with views of Zabarvan Mountains. It is within easy reach of the Moghul gardens of Nishat and Shalimar and walking distance to Harwan Garden. Dachigam National Park and Royal Springs Golf Course are also nearby. The lodge is a comfortable home with all modern facilities. Local transport is close by and famous Dal Lake is within 20 minutes drive. There are wonderful local walks in the surrounding area around Snow Leopard Lodge. Snow Leopard Lodge has a wonderful garden with many fruit trees and local flowers.

Reviewed By PhilJoThis is our third time staying at Snow Leopard Lodge. Each time our hosts, Manzoor and Jill Billoo, have given us an incredible experience and very comfortable stay. Their very spacious home over 3 floors has 4 king size suites, 3 with their own separate lounge areas making it very relaxing in your own suite. All meals were catered by Manzoor, a very experienced cook who has worked in international hotels. He would source fresh produce each day from the local village varying the menu daily and preparing traditional Kashmiri dishes. Manzoor also runs a trekking business and although this visit we did not trek due to the cold weather he did organise day tours for us visiting Gulmarg, a nearby village where we were able to have a day walk and picnic and also numerous day trips to Srinagar city. We had a day trip to Dal Lake which included viewing a houseboat for morning tea and a shikara ride around beautiful Dal Lake. Another day we did a walking tour through Srinagar’s old town visiting the spice market, Rosa Bal, Jamia Masjid, Badshah’s tomb and many more historical sites. Wandering the narrow streets of the old town seeing craftsmen at work was definitely a highlight of this trip too. Jill helped us source local handicrafts assisting us on shopping trips to Srinagar and the famous Polo View Road. Wandering down the Bund along the Jhelum River is like stepping back to the English colonial days. I recommend a stay at Snow Leopard Lodge for a relaxing time in a village surrounded by snow capped peaks. There are many walks nearby to keep you fit and walk off the scrumptious meals. Getting into Srinagar city centre is easy via local transport taking only 30 minutes. Manzoor can help to organise not only local accompanied tours but also road/rail/air trips all over India and of course the incredible experience of trekking in the Himalayas.

A six bedroom cottage , situated amidst the Himalayas of Dhara forests (Harwan) just 5 Km from Harwan Garden and Dachigam National Park. 23 Km from City center and about 33 Km from the Srinagar International Airport. A fascinating resort with small river flowing on front-side and magnificent views of mountains and Villages. Cherry trees spread across the resort is an absolute delight during spring and summer in Kashmir.

Rooms are excellent, spacious..you really feel at home..Surrounded by mountains...water flowing at the back side of the home...that sound...lot of Cherry trees...beautiful garden....Amazing stay... The owner Amreen and husband has taken care of our stay well...It was like a family...so friendly ..chatting like our known friends...excellent hospitality.. they have two excellent cooks,..who make both veg and non veg foods.. Though 20 min drive from the city...the place is amazing.. Must stay place..
