Shibden Mill Inn nestles in the fold of the Shibden Valley overlooking the Red Beck, near Halifax, West Yorkshire (England). This 17th-century inn is steeped in history and has been sympathetically renovated and restored so as to retain as much of its original charm and character as possible.
We called in on the off chance we could grab a quick meal on the way back to our holiday let after a day out walking Saturday evening of a bank holiday weekend and we were delighted to find an excellent outdoor seating area where dogs were very welcome. The atmosphere was lovely and staff were extremely friendly. It was busy however the outdoor select menu of pizzas and fries was perfect for us. The food was delicious excellent table service and very quick from ordering to getting our food. Will definitely visit again if ever close by.

Staying local is easy at the new Premier Inn Hotel Halifax Town Centre, with most central attractions and facilities within a half mile stroll. This is also a great place to give your car a break - unless you're tempted by a spin into the countryside. If the kids are on board, why not start with the Eureka Children's Museum? Then move on to the historic Piece Hall or a show at the Victoria Theatre. And if you're on business, Lloyds HQ and Halifax Town Hall are just yards away. Wind down at the Beefeater restaurant, before it's time to get your head down in a comfy bed.
I have stayed at this hotel several times and it almost always fails to impress. My latest visit left me with a bad back and my worst impression yet of the hotel. I was allocated the room furthest away from reception, a room I hope never to see again. The bed was lumpy and seemingly long past its best. The couch, which doubles as the second bed for twin bookings, was covering in urine stains that they clearly had no intention of dealing with. The TV had just 8 of the 40-odd available Freeview channels available, and the lag experienced between pressing a button on the remote and the TV actually responding needs to be seen to be believed. Some of the furniture was damaged with no signs of repair, and there were large marks on the walls that had been left for future generations to admire. This particular branch of Premier Inn also provides tissues in the bathroom rather than toilet rolls, and has the shower head attached to the wall to make showering just that bit more annoying than it should be. With cleaning staff no longer required to attend to rooms on a daily basis, they are now free to spend their time talking amongst each other how wasted they got the previous night and how close they were to calling in sick. I'm not such a grinch that this would normally bother me, but when they're stood outside your room while you're trying to squeeze in a bit more shut eye, it does kind of grate. The attached Beefeater restaurant didn't have a full menu available on any of our visits, including the Sunday roast option on... Sunday. Throw in the expensive third-party parking nearby, and this particular Premier Inn has only its location to draw guests back for repeat visits.

Holdsworth House is a beautiful Jacobean manor built in 1633, which has been owned and run by the Pearson family for over 50 years. It's a four star hotel and historic manor standing in stunning, secluded gardens and is just three miles north of Halifax. It feels a world apart from the bustle of everyday life and is a perfect choice for accommodation, weddings and conferences. In this beautiful old house you'll find open fires, cosy lounges, fine antiques and tapestries that create a sense of history and comfort. The 36 charming bedrooms are all ensuite and have all been individually furnished. Dinner is served by candlelight in the 17th Century, oak-paneled award-winning restaurant whilst the Long Bar has a simpler brasserie style menu.
We stayed at Holdsworth House as we were heading to a comedy gig in Halifax, chose the hotel due to its traditional look and connection with all the local television shows. The room was comfortable and the hotel itself was nice. Breakfast was enjoyable and the staff all friendly. Location was good but not close to the town center so you do need a car.

Just two miles from the centre, the Premier Inn Hotel Halifax South (A629) overlooks the historic Calder and Hebble canal. In fact, the transport picture is brilliant whichever way you look at it, with fast connections via the M62, rail and bus routes. Get serious about fun at the Eureka Children's Museum. Then recover in style at Broad Street Plaza with its great restaurants and nine-screen Vue cinema. And if business is on the agenda, Calderdale Hospital, Halifax Town Hall and Lloyds HQ are all nearby. Whatever's behind your visit, round your day off in our Brewers Fayre restaurant before sinking into your super comfy bed.
I recently stayed at this premier inn and the staff were excellent in assisting me. I had completed a long cycle event that saw me arrive back earlier than check in time. Alisa the manager couldn't do enough to turn a room around and allow me to check in early and sleep, which after 400kms was sorely needed. The hotel location is pleasant on the canal and I'll be staying again, not so tired next time.

I could not have chosen a better place to stay for my tour of the UK! From the moment I arrived, I was cheerfully greeted and made to feel welcome. This B&B is top notch! My room literally overlooked Shibden Hall. The hosts of Shibden Hall View at Hough House were very accommodating. Phil, Adele and their dog, Fudge were always accessible to assist me with any questions regarding my stay. The breakfast was amazing and a wonderful way to start out my day every morning. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. I highly recommend this hidden gem as a destination stay for anyone, (individuals, families, groups) as you will not be disappointed!

Noisy ( 4/5am woken on both nights with noise from the hotel basement- not street noise ) dirty room - filthy cushions and valance on the bed, cobwebs, dirty mug and glass. Disappointing breakfast. Staff trying their best - no management on site apparently- and obviously used to fielding the same complaints with platitudes but no action. Very dingy gloomy dark room (106).

Stayed here just one night. Rooms are small, but it is a listed building over 400 years old, so to be expected. Lovely comfortable room with lots of really thoughtful small touches ( tea & coffee, chocolates!). Breakfast was superb. The owners are really friendly and helpful. Fully deserves 5 stars. Would definitely stay here again!

The Crossroads Inn has recently been totally refurbished throughout and now offers a comfortable dining environment and relaxed bar area. Set on the Pennine Moors between Halifax, Haworth and Hebden Bridge with breathtaking views of the Yorkshire valleys. The Crossroads Inn has what everyone looks for in a good quality establishment. We serve good home cooked food each day as well as a daily specials board where local produce and fresh food is top of our priorities, along with our Sunday lunches and children's menu. The Crossroads has six en suite bed & breakfast rooms with coffee making facilities, flat screen TVs and free WI-Fi.
Went with family for a lunchtime meal. Although a bit expensive, the food was worth every penny. Absolutely delicious with giant portions too and everything was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. A great range of veggie options too which was nice to see. The service was amazing, our waitress was lovely, helpful and attentive. Cannot fault and will be returning soon!
