The comforts of a friendly, small-town atmosphere combined with the pleasures of big city life make Grand Rapids an ideal choice for a fun getaway with a host of indoor and outdoor activities. Once known as the furniture capital of the world, the city has a reinvigorated downtown area and a thriving arts and cultural community. Its most popular attraction is the museum dedicated to native son Gerald R. Ford, 38th U.S. President, where interactive exhibits take you to the White House and the 1976 Republican National Convention. Wander through the state's largest tropical conservatory at the Frederik Meijer Gardens, a magical wonderland of gardens, woodlands and over 100 bronze statues by famous artists, including the 24-foot bronze horse designed by Leonardo da Vinci. More outdoor fun is a half-hour away at the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan. Golf lovers have plenty of places to hit the greens since Grand Rapids has more privately owned, daily-fee, public courses than any other U.S. city. Wind up your busy weekend with a cold beer at the Hair of the Frog Brewery or the Grand Rapids Brewing Company.

My partner and I stayed in a king suite on the 2nd floor. Upon checking the First Lady who helped me was kind but her computer was not loading and she could not check me in. I waited for the other person to finish helping another guest to check me in. (No big deal). The lobby was clean and nice. Our room was clean and had plenty of room. The bed was comfy. The one issue with cleanliness we had was a forgotten washcloth that was left on the shower rod from the last guests housekeeping didn’t see. The water pressure in the shower was great! (This is usually one of my biggest complaints at hotels). Our room did not come with breakfast as I used points to book it. At check in I was offered breakfast for $5 a person at the restaurant in the hotel. I bought them and we used them in the morning. The breakfast was okay. Worth the $5 each plus tip and tax. Just not the normal buffet breakfast I am use to. Lastly the location of this hotel was great! We were able to walk to the event we were in town for. Free parking at the hotel was great as well. Overall I would stay here again.

This place was really great. Check in was efficient and friendly and along the way to our room we were greeted by two different staff members. Our room was spotlessly clean and really comfortable. Although we overlooked the freeway, it was quiet. The A/C worked well and the room temp was perfect. The towels were nice and fluffy and there were 4 rather than only 2 as you get at many properties of this level. The pool and hot tub were also super clean with lots of towels available. Breakfast was great with bacon, eggs, and a variety of other options. Everything was hot and fresh and the attendant was super friendly which was definitely a theme at this property. If we return to the area, we'll definitely stay here again!

This is a luxury hotel in GR, and parts of it fit that bill and parts do not. Pros: 1. Location is wonderful. Right on the river and walking distance to most of the primary downtown attractions 2. The meeting spaces are nice and well attended. 3. The lobby has the feel of luxury Cons: 1. The lights in the room do not light up the room. There was a lamp on the desk and another between the beds. At night, with the lights one, it was still rather dim. 2. You'd expect a hotel of this status to have a Nespresso or at least a Keurig machine. Instead, they provide the same machine you get at their value properties. 3. I was surprised how small and old feeling the bathrooms are. The toilets look like they are out of an old public bathroom with the metal flush lever and exposed piping. The opposite of luxury. Overall, it was OK. I would stay there again if my business meeting is there.

Welcome to something inviting. Something rewarding. Hyatt Place Grand Rapids/Downtown. The newest addition to an already impressive skyline bursting with possibilities, the Hyatt Place Grand Rapids Downtown delivers a unique hotel experience for those who crave an fresh and airy place to rest, recharge and seize whatever opportunities lay ahead.
The free breakfast was horrible. Cold eggs and potatoes were the warm servings. Our pillows smelled mildewed, and the bed was uncomfortable. Staff was very rude at the restaurant, which consisted of a burger, a Turkey sandwich, or a pizza. Save yourself the disappointment and stay at a different brand of hotel.

We recently stayed at this Hotel for our daughters wedding. She had blocked rooms and a group attending the wedding also stayed. This facility was amazing. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was the best..it included an omelet bar and anything else you may want to eat. We just can’t say enough positives about our stay. Very satisfied!

I stayed in here during a conference. The experience was mediocre at best. Upon checkin (posted to start at 4), no rooms were available despite arriving at 4:45 pm and had to wait. The bathrooms were also not clean with dust and dirty around the toilet. When I checked out, the manager was very rude when I asked if I could change what card was charged. The night before I asked if this was possible and the desk manager indicated that I could be done. The next morning the desk attendant hemmed-and-hawed that it was not possible and too difficult. Would not recommend staying here if visiting.

The hotel itself was wonderful! Clean room. Very comfortable beds. There must be a club very near by because the noise level at night was very loud outside out bedroom window(we were on the third floor)

The JW Marriott Grand Rapids is everything you would expect and nothing you could have imagined. Situated in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, the JW Marriott Grand Rapids is meticulously designed for both business and pleasure. As the first JW Marriott hotel in the Midwest, the hotel offers 337 well-appointed, smoke-free rooms and suites on 23 posh floors. Each of which is outfitted with atypical amenities like a 42" flat screen TV, as well as numerous other uncommon personal luxuries. From shareholder's meetings to lavish wedding receptions to intimate weekend getaways, the JW raises the bar. In luxury. In service. In dining. In everything.
We stayed at this hotel hoping for a superior experience, but didn’t have one. They don’t provide maid service, the spa is closed, and $35 a day for self parking on top of the already high room rates is ridiculous. They didn’t even apologize for the fact there was no maid service! Next time I’ll stay out of downtown and just come in as needed.

I love the Hilton hotel chain as a whole. This hotel looks to either be new or has recently been renovated. Everything was clean and updated. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and we had a balcony which was a plus. The only negative I have is the bed. It was a little too firm for my likings. We missed breakfast but this particular brand within the Hilton chain, is known to have great breakfast. I plan to return to the area soon and I plan to stay here again.
