Pilot Beach Resort is located on the northwest shoreline of Crete, Greece, in the bay of Almyros neighboring the picturesque fishing village of Georgioupolis, halfway between Chania and Rethymno amongst a scenery of unparalleled beauty, and near settlements that retain the traditional Cretan elements but also villages with a cosmopolitan atmosphere. It offers a unique combination of tradition, hospitality and luxury with the comforts of a state of the art hotel. Pilot Beach Resort with its spacious stylish public areas and unique Cretan architecture is surrounded by olive and avocado trees and is directly on the sandy beach of Georgioupolis offering spectacular views of the Aegean Sea and of the famous White Mountains. Whilst it is considered among the finest five star hotels in Crete and offers services of the highest standards combined with the well known authentic Cretan Hospitality.
Difficult to rate this one. Many people don’t understand the star system for hotels. They are generally awarded for facilities rather than service. Pilot beach is five star in the sense that it has multiple pools( including an indoor one) and beautiful well kept grounds which include tennis courts, football area etc. There also seems to be entertainment in the evening and good facilities for children. Having said all that for me the experience here has been quite average. A couple of days before I arrived I messaged the hotel to ask about a paid upgrade. I would have liked one of their panoramic suites but no one got back to me. When I arrived in the late afternoon no one mentioned my message so I just decided to keep the standard room that I had booked.( probably saving myself a thousand euros in the end). I had also asked for a quiet, second floor room. I got a second floor room near the car park which I didn’t really mind but to be honest I could have done without the sound of the bottle recycling being emptied quite often. The room itself is quite nice with a view over the mountains. There are quite nice toiletries and bathrobes etc. My room has a very basic over a bath shower. No problem I think because I can have a nice relaxing bath. Unfortunately this hasn’t happened as despite messaging and then going to reception to ask I never received a bath plug and so said bath was quite useless. If you don’t want people to use a bath please don’t put them in the rooms and if you don’t want to bring a plug just tell your guests. After the second day of asking I gave up. Air conditioning in room good and bed comfortable. Maid service was good and unobtrusive. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet but to be honest for me the dinners have been quite mediocre. Lots of choice but very standard to hotels in Greece. Staff were nice enough but the whole order in app thing doesn’t really work well as for example I ordered ice coffee on the beach but the part of the app where you put your preferences didn’t seem to work for me so my coffee turned up with no sugar and one day it didn’t turn up at all! I suppose I could say these are all small things but this isn’t a particular cheap hotel so I don’t expect to have to do things like chase after a bath plug or a missing coffee. Would also be nice if a little more of a welcome was given at check it. The lady was polite and efficient but for me it just lacks that little personal touch that I expect in better hotels. So for me with two days to go of my holiday I would say that my experience has been sort of average. I do understand that I am not the usual demographic for this hotel as most of the other people staying here are German families who did all seem to be enjoying it very much. I really wanted to love this one considering it has a lot of very good reviews but maybe I am missing something. One more thing is it is quite a long way from Georgioupolis by foot. You can walk a long the beach but the deep soft sand is hard to walk on and I would suggest that you would have to be quite young and fit to do it in the 15 minutes or so that the hotel suggests. Would I stay again? Probably not but if you are Northern European with a young family this is probably a nice resort for you.

The whole resort was fantastic! We had a huge room and laboratories are big and clean. We didn’t need to wear a mask nowhere but we felt quite safe. Beach is very good and we went every day there. Reception was kind and helpful. Food and service at the fish restaurant next to the beach was very nice too. The buffet main restaurant was amazing and we mostly ate there. Whole stuff was incredible friendly but special thanks to Giorgios he was very attentive and was always there for us. We had also some good nights at the main bar which were some good events for kids and adults. We also visited the other two a la cart restaurants the woman at the Asian restaurant was very kind. In the end we want to thank Service Manager Mr. Antonis that runs all the staff he was everywhere! He solved any small issues we had from our first night that we arrived and helped us a lot during our stay there. The whole experience was unforgettable we’ll definitely come back one of the next years!

We just arrived back from our holiday at this lovely hotel. Our children (2 and 6) had a brilliant time ,so did we. There is a little pool for toddlers right by the big pool, which was convenient. The breakfast and dinner were amazing with loads of variety of food. You can also have dinner at the beach of the hotel, which is about 3 min away. You have to make sure you book yourself in due to limited availability. The entertainment was amusing , kids loved every minute of the mini disco , big thank you to Agnes , who made their experience really special . Staff and manager, Nikolaos were really friendly and welcoming, we can't fault this hotel , we would go back anytime.

I visited here at the beginning of May and from start to finish it was amazing! I had that much of a good time I extended my stay. The staff were so helpful and friendly, Dali the entertainment guy was so good with all the guests and always gave us a great night. The bar staff were fantastic. The hotel was spotless and the food was great. I usually eat out but didn't bother as enjoyed the food in the hotel. The staff have table service for drinks in the restaurant which was a lovely touch. I honestly can't recommend this place enough, i had the best time and met some amazing people, literally can't wait to go back. Thank you everyone, see you all soon.

Ideally situated within an organic olive garden of 22000 square meters, offers its guests great moments of peace and nature. Its privileged location between the historic cities of Rethymno (17km) and Chania (43km, international airport), allows visitors to explore the island. Enjoy the longest sandy beach of Crete (1km) and relax by the unique ecosystem of Kournas lake (4km).
Good value for money, nice pool, good breakfast, spacious rooms, small shop, nice staff, very clean. Perfect to visit the lake, children love it to watch the turtles there, to go with the pedal boat and to swim in the freshwater. Only handicap might be the need for a car, to go for the lake, one of the best beaches or an outside tavern in the evening.

Very clean, adherence to Covid precautions throughout hotel. Restaurant a tad canteenish which is fine for breakfast but no ambience during evening service. Booked HB but enough places to eat locally, so have eaten out most nights. Had a massage at hotel spa by Angelika would rate this 5 stars. Just the right pressure, fantastic! We loved our stay here in May. Within 15 mins walk of village….great to be in quiet area but so easy to get to local restaurants. Very clean and staff charming and super attentive. Special place with local beach good for children. Hotel has great pool and also separately, a large play pool for kids. Great place for family holiday or just wanting to explore north coast of Crete by car.

The location was very quiet and there were a few local restaurants that did simple dishes well, The hotel itself needs modernisation but it's really the staff that make this place what it is. The managers, floor staff, and housekeeping were all patient with us as we have young children. This is what makes a 4 star a 5 star when the staff are amazing and this is the case at this hotel.
