Welcome to Scandic Gällivare, situated right in Swedish Lapland and the Malmfalten mining district of Norrbotten. Scandic Gällivare enjoys a central location with both the city centre and natural surroundings on your doorstep. There is a vast array of both summer and winter activities here. Some of the most popular activities are playing golf in the midnight sun, hiking on the mountain trails, downhill skiing at the area's excellent ski resort, or cross-country skiing on one of the well-prepared ski trails. If you're looking for a simpler outing, why not borrow a bicycle and visit the city centre to enjoy all it has to offer, just a 200-metre walk from our hotel.
We stayed here one night, and it pretty much ticked our boxes. The bed was comfortable, the curtains actually keep the light out (important in June/July time!), and breakfast was very good - there is a waffle machine! We used the pool, jacuzzi and sauna in the evening, which was a great end to our day. The only downside of the hotel is that you can hear every door closing around your room, which woke us up at 6:30/7. Breakfast was until 9:30, although they let us take food until around 9:45. A super helpful lady remade a waffle for us after it went wrong (my fault). All the staff seemed polite enough, so maybe something has changed since previous reviewers complaining about them? Free parking outside the hotel. It would be nice if the rooms had kettles with drinks, as I ever know how much they cost in reception. I think we would stay here again if we were to venture into the countryside/mountains around Gällivare.

A small, cozy and low-cost hotel located in the center of Gallivare. Breakfast is included in all prices, as well as wifi and parking spaces. Since juni 1:st we are the new owners here at the hotel. We are constantly working on renewing, renovating and improving the hotel. Welcome to us! /Elisabeth & Dan Hotell Dundret
Shared bathroom and toilets. Room was clean. Bed is ok but little outdated. Pillow was not so good. Breakfast was bread, boiled eggs, bread toppings and few slices of fruits. So very basic. All together ok.

Great hotel! The only reason it gets 4 not 5 stars is that there is no kettle in the room. The room was clean, well presented, and had quite a lot of space. The bathroom was very nice. Breakfast was good, with lots of food to chose from. Only complaint was the taste of the coffee. I don’t like dark roast/bitter coffee (maybe it was the machines), but that is personal. Gym was pretty good, open until 22, why not 24/7? My colleagues told me the sauna was very nice. Free tea and coffee in the cafe. Having also stayed in the local Scandic, I think this is a much nicer hotel and probably worth the extra money.

Gällivare B&B puts the best of Gallivare at your fingertips, making your stay both relaxing and enjoyable.
I stayed for one night in August on my way to hike Kungsleden and Padjelanta. I had arrived at night after a very long flight from Seattle. It was nice to come to a cozy B&B instead of a hotel. Also, the price was good value. I was greeted warmly by the owner Marita. The breakfast in the morning was very good. I needed to pick up some groceries for my hike so in the morning I had a 10 minute pleasant walk to the store. Also, the walk to the train and bus station is 10 minutes as well in the opposite direction. So even though the B&B is not in the center of Gallivare the location is convenient. The only drawback of my stay was that I had to wait quite awhile to take a shower at night since there were some guests who were taking very long showers. That is a trade off one faces sometimes when getting a room without a private bathroom.

We can arrange in advance dog sledding and many other winter activities, a stay in our wildernesscamp, as well as rental of fishing equipment, boats and bicycles.
What a fantastic place! First thing to say is that when it’s -12 degrees outside, you welcome the cosy warmth of the rooms and the lodge where you eat and relax. The fire was always lit and gave it a magical feel to the place. The food was gorgeous - buffet breakfast, a hearty soup for lunch and 3 courses at dinner. All homemade and top quality. The staff were so lovely! Everybody was only too happy to answer questions and chat. The nighttime snow shoeing tour was spectacular and yes, we did see the Aurora which made it even more special. The husky sledding was one of the best experiences ever - the dogs are so well looked after and absolutely love their jobs! Their excitement was infectious! We finished our 4 days with a tour of the Ice Hotel on our way back from the airport - we’ll worth it. It was spectacular. Thanks Franziska for making our stay an amazing bucket-list ticking adventure!

Very nice, affordable camping a 50 minutes drive north from Gällivare (with shopping, restaurants, groceries etc.). We stayed in what they call a big cabin on their booking. It was very spacious and with private bathroom. A bunkbed, two single beds, kitchenette, a table with 4 chairs, tv, refrigerator with a freezer compartment. If you want you can rent the other room as well, for a small amount, with the same amenities. So the cabin in total has beds for a total of 8 persons. We only rented one room and the bathroom. You do not have to share the cabin with another family even if you only rent one room and the bathroom. :) We had cabin nr. 11. The cabin comes with linen and towels, so the beds were ready when we arrived! :) And the cabin was very clean!! A very big plus was that at arrival, you just have to get rid of the garbage and take of the linen. No cleaning. ? Beautiful surroundings. Not the newest camping, but they renovate and it was cosy and very clean and cosy. Very friendly hosts!
