We spent 7 days at the hotel. We loved it and could have stayed another 7 days. The staff were superb and professional and couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast and lunch was excellent. Pool area is beautiful - there are two pools to choose from. The rooms are beautifully done with all amenities. It’s walking distance to shops and restaurants as well as the promenade. We highly recommend it and look forward to coming back.

Ashby Manor offers 16 rooms, which consist of double rooms, twin rooms and triple rooms, some of the rooms offer sea view. With the perfect location between Cape Town business centre and Camps Bay, it is ideal for business and leisure travellers.
Two days into my stay the geyser burst and flooded my room. The entire room was under water. Was moved to an alternate room, but was then informed that I had to move back to the original room. The room was in a very poor state and had not been repainted, the ceiling was stained from the water damage and smelled musty. I was never asked if I sustained any personal damage due to the water flooding the room. I am still awaiting feedback from the owner 20 days after checking out, re a refund for accommodation that I prepaid, after checking out 10 days into my 30 day stay. Ruth the owner seems to have a very cavaleer approach to her guests.

Pros: I had a family room all to myself, which was nice! The room was clean and had an en suite shower and loo. Also in the room were two single beds and a double bed, all of which were very comfortable. There were en suite tea/coffee facilities and a fridge in the room. There was also a desk where one could work and a TV with satellite channels (limited). A dressing gown was provided for guests. Cons: The desk and the wardrobe were a little dated but perfectly functional. The mosquito canopy on the double bed was clean but could have done with being bleached. Outside my room, the lobby was brightly lit and colourful and the staff were lovely. The outside area consists of a nice red ceramic tiled area with a very small pool area and sun loungers. Some of the sun lounger cushions could use replacement. The compound was secure and guests are given the codes to let themselves in and out. There is no food or bar at this establishment. My stay for five nights cost R5,660 which equated to approximately Stg£260. All in all, if you want a base in Cape Town from which to go on excursions this hotel is very useful. It is not somewhere to consider if you want a hotel holiday.
