This was my first time at a Tru by Hilton but it definitely won't be my last. The hotel appeared to be new but the desk clerk said it has been open about 4 years. Both of the rooms we had were very clean & had everything we needed. I really like the soap, shampoo & lotion dispensers, it makes more sense than little bottles. Beds were comfortable, linens were great & I liked the hard flooring, it felt so much cleaner than carpet. All of the staff were very friendly & all seemed to be enjoying their jobs. The only negative I have is the air freshener being used in the lobby & common areas was too heavy of a scent, overpowering to those of us with allergies.

Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Dove bathroom products are nice and the environmentally-friendly refillable pump bottles have replaced the single-use minis. Breakfast was a nice variety of items. They were out of coffee but the woman at the front desk quickly made a new pot when I asked. This is our favorite place to stay in Fort Payne.

Qiana on the third shift at the reception is super friendly and helpful. So is Stacey on first shift kitchen staff. Even with the water damage in the reception area their spirits were good. We also liked the clean and roomy hotel room. Can highly recommend.

we were pleased with our room, all of the hotel staff and the location. It is obviously in line for a make-over. The desk/dressers were missing handles, the towels were a bit worn (but CLEAN) and just a few things around the room that could use some perking up. The drain in the bathroom sink was plugged and drained very slow. We shared the information with the front desk but since we were leaving the next morning we didn't want to bother them to get someone to come fix it at that time. I LOVED the fact that this hotel had ample plug receptacles throughout!! We could actually plug in all of our technology without having to stretch cords around the room. The internet was slow most of the time. I ended up using my own Hot Spot because the wifi would drop suddenly. Overall, We would definitely stay here again - even with the few 'issues' that we faced.

The good: It's a older hotel, but is decently maintained. The rooms are spacious. The beds are okay. The breakfast was surprisingly good. The bad: When I arrived, I asked for a quiet room. The front desk guy said all the rooms are quiet. I knew I was lied to when I saw the note (see image) with complimentary earplugs. The ugly: After I ate the breakfast, I found (and killed) a cockroach in my room. I searched my belongings thoroughly to make sure there weren't any more crawling around. I also looked for bedbugs and luckily I didn't find any of those. Bottom line: I won't be staying at this property again.

I gave 4 stars but really only for the overall value that we got with our room rate. In actuality everything at the hotel was more 3 star rooms and service. I booked a group block for my baseball team to stay here Memorial Day weekend for a tournament. the reason for the 4th star was that the room rate included breakfast each morning as well as parking. I also got a daily credit for being gold elite. For these reasons, I gave a 4th star for the great value we received for the price. breakfast each day was great and parking was easy to get to across the street. getting in and out where you needed to go was a different story due to all the one way streets though. In reality this was 3 stars though. prior to check in, my wife messaged the hotel to see if the room was ready. We did not get a response. At checkin, it was 4:30pm and we spoke to kayla at the front desk and our room was not ready. My wife and I wanted to be on 6th floor with the rest of the team that reserved rooms through the app. We were told we could pick a different room on floor 5 or we could wait an hour or two for our room to be ready. We went upstairs to the Room 532 and it was fine. However, when we called the front desk with a question, it dialed 911. This happened when we dialed guest services. My wife tried the button a second time and it again dialed 911. We immediately went back down to switch rooms. Kayla at the front desk said that all rooms on floor 6 not clean has been labeled closed for the evening and were not available. She had just told us 10 minutes earlier that we could have waited an hour or two to get our room on the 6th floor. kayla said we could keep our room on the 5th floor for tonight but gave no assurances about tomorrow. We went back upstairs quite frustrated. About 30 minutes later, she called back down and offered a room on 6 after someone else had changed rooms and moved to a different floor. I asked for the managers contact info and was given a card for the Director of Operations named Brooke. I called her phone on Friday evening and left a message. The next day, we called down to request housekeeping while we were gone for the day. When we returned that evening at 8:00pm and they never came. I spoke to Drew at the front desk about this who radioed for someone to do housekeeping. We ate dinner in the hotel and then an hour later headed up. I stopped and asked Drew if someone was able to come up and he said yes. I went upstairs and nobody had come to do housekeeping. I went back down to Drew and told him. he claimed somebody did but it was clear nobody had since no beds made, no towels, and no trash taken out. I asked him for some soap and shampoo and said to make a note for someone to contact me. The next day, we had baseball and afterward, I checked the front desk and met Brooke. She did not have time to check her phone I guess as I did not hear back from her from Friday night and today was Sunday. She was aware of what happened and I asked to just comp one night and she agreed. This is also the reason for the 4th star. I think this hotel has a lot of potential. They are clearly low on staff. The food at the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner was good each time we were there. I am unsure if I would stay here again, but can say the location is good for all the different places we went to while in the city. The rooms facing the street were pretty loud. Fort Wayne apparently has a lot of drag racing at night time so you may want to request a room on the opposite side.

Hallways are an icebox. Room service is at the most random times (6pm and someone’s in my room?). Platinum elite and my room during my stays were always off the elevator across from the ice machine. “Do you like a high floor?” “Yes that’d be great!” *gets put on 3rd floor*. $15/day parking but the gates were broken 3 of the 4 days so parking should have been free but was still charged. Rooms are fine. Location is good. But things are off. Don’t book a promotional rate, it takes an arm and a leg to get your points.
