We came to the region for bike riding. The accommodation in St Jean de Maurienne is quite ordinary and this is because there are ski resorts nearby that offer better alternatives. While La Touissure is a disappointing place to visit, Hotel Restaurant Beausoleil is a top quality, modern three star place to stay. There were however a few issues that bothered us but may not worry other guests. But first the positives. The rooms are clean, modern with good mattress and pillow. However, there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. There is also no bar fridge to keep provisions cool - if you are traveling on an itinerary, this may be important for some. At the price we paid, we felt these two facilities were sorely missed. The business is basically run by one person, Stephan, and supported by his mother who serves food and does the house keeping. Stephan is an excellent pastry cook as evidenced by the tarts he made fresh himself. In terms of food, we paid for dinners to be included as well as breakfast. On the whole, dinners were quite acceptable except for one night when we had very tough sinewy steak. The breakfasts were adequate - a few cold cuts, cheese, pastries, bread, jams, yoghurt, boiled eggs. We were not offered scrambled eggs though this may have been available had we asked. Just don't know. My wife and I felt the food on offer was pebelow the usual standard as the place was operating at about 10% capacity. It must be difficult to cater profitably for small numbers. There were a couple of slightly creepy or tacky episodes. Firstly, we asked whether we could bring two friends along for dinner on one night. This was charged at EUR21 per head - our friends ordered a tea and coffee and th is was charged at EUR6, a bit rich we thought. As a hotel restaurant, the wine ordered with dinner was fairly expensive compared to where we head been previously. One of the things we like is to have a pre dinner drink or two on our balcony. As we had no glasses in our room, we asked for two wine glasses and borrowed a wine bottle opener. This was happily provided. In order for housekeeping lady not to take them away, we put them in our wardrobe on shelf. It was a little worrying that housekeeping lady opened or wardrobe and took them away. Not from security point of view - just something we did not feel right about. On our morning if check out, we went up to our room after breakfast and found that or bed had been stripped at 0800. I am not sure this is normal. Anyway, this place is a high quality establishment that will probably be 100% fine in winter and also summer if there are more than four guests.

The hotel is nice and welcomming. Our chalet was very good, just what we were looking for. It was quiet all the time. Big plus is that we were directly on the ski piste :) Chalet is clean and stuffed well. There is small shop with food nearby and other necessary stuff like rent of ski, ski bus station etc. We were lucky to have lots of snow, so our stay was just great :)))

We had a wonderful stay at this cycling friendly lodge. Very welcoming and clean hotel. Simple features and great food at a very reasonable price. The views are spectacular, bike storage convenient, and having a hotel owner who is also a cyclist made it a great place to arrive after a long day on the saddle.

We stayed here with our son and his family. Good apartment but difficulty unloading and loading car as car park was full. Also had to carry everything up two outside flights of stairs across the snow and up two more flights. Hard work. The children really enjoyed the pool after a days ski ing and the ski ing was brilliant.

We stayed at a lot of French apartments over the years. French apartments are usually quite small with bunk beds and closet- like bedrooms. But not at this place! Normal beds, excellent bathrooms, kitchen with good equipment, separate living room. Really a pleasant surprise. It is unfortunate that WiFi is *not* free.

A very nice 2-bedroom apartment close to the ski slopes (600 meters walking). The apartment had a very nice balcony (south side) and a marvelous view. Kitchen and bathrooms were great! The beds were nice, but we did not use the couch. Parking was easy in front of the accommodation. The ski lockers were too small for a group of 6 people. Fortunately, we were a group of 3 ... The balcony had only 2 seats, although there was place for 6. The dinner table was big enough for 6, but difficult to squeeze in and out.

Was given a '4 person' room for 4 people -1214. This is not good for 4 adults. We had to move furniture into the corridor to make space to have the sofa as a bed. Great for 2 people but 4; no way. Lots of furniture that isn't required; like a huge cabinet for the TV box/DVD player and random large wooden stool-box thing. Limited storage. We ended up leaving the sofa made as a bed the whole time as it was a pain to try and put the spare duvets and pillows away as they take up all the cupboard space in the bedroom. Kitchen is small but workable. Way too much crockery for a "4 person" apartment especially when a dishwasher is provided. A small perk was the washing machine in the bathroom. The bathroom was good with a separate toilet. This gets 3 stars because of its location and if advertised correctly and not squeezed in, for 2 people it would be a great apartment.
