A Major Disappointment
Reviewed By Briann01For a hotel that only opened a couple of months ago, I would have expected a more clean and professional experience. What a letdown this stay was! My husband and I booked a one-night stay. I understand Covid times has created a bit of a cluster in terms of shortages (staffing included), but I did not think we would be faced with issues in professionalism and cleanliness. CHECK-IN: We arrived on a Saturday evening around 7pm. There were 2 employees at the front desk. I was greeted with a hello, but was not interacted with until they asked me to swipe my credit card. From then, the gentleman I was facing handed me the room keys, disclosed the breakfast time, and then told me where the elevators were located. The two employees interacted with one another, speaking between themselves as they worked to check me in. My ID was not asked for, nor did either employee inform me why I needed to swipe my card. I presented my ID and swiped the card for incidentals, both of which I knew to do from past IHG check-ins. I was not acknowledged for being a Spire Elite Member, nor was I asked if I would like the 500 bonus points or an item from the pantry as a welcome gift as an IHG Rewards Member and IHG Premier Credit Card holder. ROOM: We stayed on the 5th floor. Three things we noted immediately: 1) the dishwashing liquid soap was clearly used and almost gone 2) the paper towels were not re-stocked and were also clearly used 3) the tissue box was seemed to be haphazardly stuffed with tissues in a quick attempt to clean We could live with these things, as we were not washing dishes and the paper towels were not wholly necessary for our one-night stay. Unfortunately, after breakfast the next morning, we discovered a few more things that came to light as we were getting ready to pack up. - The shower was partially cleaned. We found globs of soap/hair on the shower walls that were not from us. - The bathroom had strands of hairs that were not ours. - One bath towel had hair in the fabric. - The coffee machine still contained a used coffee filter. - The water pitcher in the refrigerator had leftover water in it from a previous guest and the pitcher had a stain/was dirty. While the bed was comfortable enough, I have to question how clean the bedding really was. It was almost as if we were staying in someone else's room! There was barely any cleaning...We had new packages of bar soap, the bedding appeared clean enough, and the 2 dishes and utensils we used were clean, but aside from that, it is hard to decipher how much effort was really put into cleaning this space! BREAKFAST: We have stayed in other Staybridges, as well as Holiday Inn Expresses...all other complimentary breakfasts we have experienced far surpass the one we had in Flowood. 1) The tile floors were dirty throughout...we found dirt and debris on the floors, especially near the entrances 2) There was no cold water to drink. The only cold beverages available to consume were milk and FROZEN orange juice in individual plastic containers. 3) The juice machine was not in operation, though there was no sign indiciating this. BREAKFAST OFFERINGS: The other Staybridges we have frequented have had more selection in their hot foods, as well as a spread of cold choices, such as: yogurt, fresh fruit, cheese, hardboiled eggs, salsas, jalapenos, etc. The hot foods we have enjoyed at other locations included omelettes, sausages, and potatoes. For our stay, this Flowood location had: - Liquidy eggs with water appeared to be bacon bits (?) - Biscuits - Bacon - Muffins - Bread selection (sliced bread, bagels) - Cereal - Waffle station with syrup - Cream cheese - Peanut butter - Butter - Salt & Pepper There were no other condiments available, such as jam, ketchup, hot sauce, or salsa. It was a very disappointing breakfast spread. There was no breakfast attendant on site. Another guest approached us to ask if we needed help finding something, and he confirmed with us that there was no cold water available, only hot. BEVERAGE SELECTION AVAILABLE: - Frozen orange juice in separate containers - Milk - Hot regular and decaf coffee - Hot water - Tea bags were available in other section, separate from the hot beverage table. The only tea provided was Bigelow Black Tea (this is unlike other locations, which provide an array of caffeinated and herbal, caffeine-free teas). EMPLOYEES: If the hotel were crazy busy and the employees were running around, I could be a little more understanding as to the oversight in lack of breakfast variety and cleanliness. Unfortunately, this was NOT the case. The common area floors needed to be cleaned, the breakfast area needed a little help with restocking (food/glassware/etc), and the hotel room itself needed a proper clean. The night we checked-in, we observed a group of 2-4 employees socializing at the front desk as we left for a quick step out. Twenty minutes later upon our return, we observed the employees hanging out again. It was the same situation during breakfast. The employees were socializing. I did not see an employee tend to the breakfast area, check on guests, clean any of the areas that needed it (tables, floors, breakfast area, etc). It's not social hour at work...especially when so much needs attention. Our one night stay was such a poor experience. To run a hospitality business, you must be well-versed in interacting with customers, providing a great experience, and tending to amenities. It nearly felt that the employees only cared about picking up a paycheck. There is NO excuse for the way our room was presented to us.

Reviewed By erassocsDriving thru cross country , decided to stop here for the night. Hotel felt safe in great location with shopping and restaurants. However, building was showing its age. A few stains on carpet, broken ice machine. Staff was not very friendly, received warmer welcomed from fellow guests !

Reviewed By 284lawOur 1-night stay here was so great, I wish I'd planned for an extra night. Staying in a newer hotel certainly has the perks of newness and freshness. The mattress was a bit soft, so if you have back issues, it may present a problem. The hotels grounds and golf course was beautifully lit at night. Wish I had time to explore. The restaurant meals were good quality and service was ample for the evening. The noise from the party on the rooftop was a bit annoying but quiets down before too late. If you need a quieter room, be sure to request the area away from the rooftop. The Jackson airport is not very busy, so airport noise is not much of an issue especially at night. If you're staying in the Jackson area, I'd highly recommend the Sheraton Flowood as the first choice. The quiet, safe area is both close enough to everything, and far enough away at the same time.

I received a voucher to stay at Hilton Garden Inn, however it didn't specify which hotel, as there are many in the area. After calling customer service and several Hiltons, no one could find my reservation. I finally called this hotel and explained my situation to Sharlette Johnson, the GM of this hotel. She was very sweet and offered to just let me stay here with my voucher, no questions asked. Thank you very much for the hospitality and accommodations. I was tired and ready to find my hotel. Sharlette said just stay here, I'll take your voucher. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVIVE!!!! Thanks again, Hilton needs more GM's like her.

Couldn't have chosen a better hotel
Reviewed By babynurse1987This was our 1st trip to Flowood. I read up on hotels in 25 mile radius of Pearl Mississippi where our 8yo grandson lives. We made precious memories. Getting a good rest at night was so important. Couldn't have slept on a better mattress. The room was so neat. Being a RN for 33yrs I value cleanliness high. This motel met my expectations. The breakfast bar, I would put it in competition w any you have ever had. The staff was so kind. Sherry was constantly working whether it be helping a coworker or a customer. I can tell she believes in doing her job plus more. I wish I could clone her & put her at the hotels I select to stay. Comfort Suites is just as nice as Hampton but less the cost. Thank you so much for making our stay awesome! Baseball brightens my grandson's life.

Reviewed By PatriciaFosterI know this isn’t suppose to be a 5 star hotel but it may be the worst place we’ve ever stayed. The furniture was old, worn and cracked. The sheets were stained and there were nail points sticking out of the cabinet in the bathroom right by the toilet paper roll! (Which was by the way, the lowest grade toilet paper imaginable) Never again!
