In Santorini, the island of never-ending blue and the 4,000 years of civilization that provide an almost metaphysical aspect, in a unique atmosphere full of contrasts and mystery, full of images provoking the strongest of feelings, next to the picturesque village of Vlychada and just a few metres away from the black beach of Perivolos, inspired by the traditional Cycladean architecture, lies the brand new Sea Sound - White Katikies, a complex of luxurious residences and suites.
Having come out of the pandemic and waited patiently for most of if not t all restrictions to be lifted we opted for a holiday abroad. We chose Santorini and it was somewhere that was on our list of places to visit, wasn’t a long haul flight and was of course within budget. Sea Sounds appealed to us as it was away from everything and in the South of the Island. Our delayed flight meant that we would arrive late at the resort but with a successful airport transfer this was not an issue and whilst reception was closed a telephone number was left for “out of hours” and within minutes we were greeting cheerily even given the late hour. Shown to our room through the resort we were pleased to see that it was represented well and settled down for a good nights sleep. Awaking to listen to the sea, blue sky, and basking sun is never something to make taken for granted. Wandering through my room I found the kettle but alas no coffee or tea ?♂️ this was a little disappointing. The fridge had in it a plate of cheese and ham sandwich’s and whilst a nice touch it would have been nice to be told they were there as actually I was pretty peckish last night when I arrived. In the fridge was also a bottle of water and a bottle of sparkling wine both nice touches and gratefully received. It should be noted YOU SHOULD NOT DRINK THE WATER IN SANTORINI - BOTTLED WATER ONLY. It should also be noted there was a lack of information in the room - actually no information nothing at all. Unsure why this was to be honest as there is so much to see in Santorini so it’s a shame they don’t promote it or have an information centre. Breakfast was firmly on my mind by this point and we walked down to the pool which is where breakfast is served. It’s also the bar, lunch and dinner venue there is nothing else here on the resort. Traditionally Greek/European- breads, Greek cakes, crepes, fruit and yoghurt, but you could also choose from Fried eggs and sausages. This does change daily but it’s a light buffet breakfast and nothing more. The staff by the way are always courteous and a pleasure to engage with and it does feel like you are staying in their home which is also really welcoming. It felt appropriate to try everything - as I mentioned I was hungry. Breakfast in Sea Sounds is served 7-11am We visited reception to leave our details as requested due to the late check-in and that was all fine. We mentioned about coffee and they said they would sort that out for the room as well as extra water in the fridge as a bottle doesn’t really go far!!!! Our first day was spent at the hotel and enjoying our own plunge pool which was lovely - a real chill day to start the holiday. Dinner that evening was a surprise - as it was Chicken and Mash so we felt not a very Greek option, but we can’t complain it was incredibly tasty for such a simple dish, and it was served with a Greek feta salad to start, and the dessert followed with a delightful piece of Orange Cake which was very refreshing. Tomorrow we venture out! We walked along the beach from the hotel down to Persia which took about 40 mins. The initial walk is over the black volcanic sands and is well ok, but will test the calves and ankles for sure hahaha. Eventually you do reach pavement, and will then pass multiple eateries and various shops on the beachfront. Turning up one of the side streets you enter on to the main road, and we were searching out our buggy hire which was actually right at the end of the street so easy to find. Upon collecting the buggy we then drove to a fuel station and put about €20 in which gave us a little over half a tank. In Greece the pumps are attended which I’ve always liked. By now lunchtime was calling so we headed along the coast to the harbour and found a restaurant on the cliff side overlooking the extremely pretty harbour it must be said. swiftly seated which stunning view our menu and some water arrived. The menu was varied and definitely something for everyone, along with some specials which our waiter described. Fresh bread with tomato/oil/garlic Deep fried zucchini with tzatziki Greek Salad (When in Greece right?) Freshly caught tune skewered over hot coals Green Salad (like Greek but green ?♂️) 2 sprites 2 espressos Price €69 This meal was stunning, quite possibly some of the best food I’ve experienced, and should be said I am not really a fishy person, but this tuna I would have agin for sure. Value was spot on, and we had been told Santorini is expensive - this did not feel expensive. Personally this restaurant should be on your list to visit so I’ve included it’s name below ? Out and About During our trip we have been to various places and below is just a paragraph on some of them. Thira- the true capital of Santorini. Easy to get to, and a short 30 min drive and during that time I advise you stop and various points as you travel through the island, because the views are spectacular. There are lots of public car parks, and most of not all are free to park in. In the buggy is so easy to park it’s unreal. Now whilst you may not feel you walk far in Thira the elevations are quite steep so be warned. Take water, and stop regularly it’s damn hot ? in the sunshine ☀️ so fluids and sun lotion are a must (The sun;option is to put on and not drink of course ?) In the Center of Thira just opposite the cable car ? entrance there is a great frozen yogurt shop…..definitely worth spending some pennies on a refreshing dessert which is self service with as many toppings as you wish, but bear in mind you are charged by the weight and not item ? Getting around We decided to hire a buggy (as mentioned) for a couple of days. Firstly because we never have one and secondly because it’s a small island and felt this was a good way to get around and see what we wanted. I have the day the buggy’s are great but being a volcanic island the dust hahaha - well we came home browner than our suntans but I’m afraid it was dirt and a consequence of no windows or doors but we didn’t care as it was so much fun. So glad we did as it’s allowed us to nip around and visit so many places, Moto-Mano we’re excellent, and really helpful so check them out they have multiple sites around the island. Obviously this review is about the hotel so let me pick up on a few other things. Our room had a bath with shower attachment which was fine but not ideal. Water temp was a little hit n miss but given the temperature on the Island it didn’t bother us. The bathroom had two windows one outside and one inside. The outside one has a light outside, which does shine into the bathroom and then on through into the bedroom. Personally this annoyed me and it would have been nice to have a blind at that inside window. The plunge pool area was clean with two loungers, a table and 4 chairs plus a clothes dryer for the damp swimwear. Very handy and pleasant to sit out at. The main pool area is quite vast and it’s a super pool - my partner swam everyday in here before breakfast and loved that. Sun beds, chairs, loungers surround this area. Bar drinks can be ordered from the bar and they bring them to you. Wi-Fi in the hotel and mobile signal (Vodafone UK) was excellent. Wi-Fi was showing between 25-30mbps whilst cellular was strong 4g chucking out about 150-200mbps which is amazing. The bar area does lead out onto the beach which is black volcanic sand of course so it’s advised you where shoes or sea shoes to protect from the heat and sharpness of the sands too. As mentioned above we were on a half board so just had a tab open which we added our drinks too. Unsure right now at time of writing what the £££££ will be but I’ll include at the end just as a guideline. So…..my advice is to stay here, and take it at face value. Spend the cash on one of the suites with a plunge pool, its quite lovely to sit in, private with a cocktail (happy hours is 4-6pm by the way ?) and soak up the Greek sunshine. To Management A couple of points that could make your guest experience better; 1. Water - you are an island where you cannot drink water. Place a complimentary bottle in the fridge daily not just on arrival ?♂️ 2. Food - we were half board, and being asked whether we wanted dinner or lunch each breakfast got on our nerves. Why not post the menu in the rooms and let better just select, or even get an app designed so people can use that as you have great Wi-Fi ? 3. Literature - there is nothing in the rooms? Promote local, we found some fantastic places to go away from the tourists traps and also some amazing food too 4. The Rooms - Coffee and tea please? Coffee ☕️ What’s the point in a kettle otherwise? Also a mirror in the room would have been nice and the ability to switch off the front door light as this beams in through the bathroom, consequently then into the bedroom! 5. Not that we used the Tv much but a channel list would be nice ? 6. Finally - someone for when you check out would be nice a room to change in or something similar, for example we had to be out of our room by noon but they no collection for flight until 22:30 which makes it a long day before you even start travelling. My final comments Pro’s Location, private and large pools, close to beach, the people. Con’s You need transport, lack of literature, no tea or coffee in room and no drinking water in room. Summary I’d visit Santorini again, but maybe not Sea Sounds - you pitch yourself as 5 Star, but really you are not! With the Hilton opening soon next to you then you’ll have to step up your game but I think simple changes and you could go from good to amazing!!!! We do thank you for looking after us and none of the above is bad just our honest feedback and suggestions. You have an amazing team of people at the hotel too and I’d like to thank each and everyone of them. We have give you 4 stars, but 5 could be some achievable. Total bar bill for the week €267 (Euros) so approx €44 A day.

Very nice studio. They clean it every day, and they even change the towels if you wish. There is possible to park a car on the property, there is also a pool. A little store is just across the street, with reasonable prices and with very good stock… you can get most of the necessary food and drinks there. The beach and all the restaurants are just a couple of minutes walk away. The only downside was that for 3 people to eat, there was just a small round table on the balcony, and only two spoons and two medium cups for the coffee.. so it took us some organisation even to eat the breakfast. But you still have some restaurants really close.

Nalas suites is located in Emporio, a medieval castle-village which in contrast to the rest of the island, remains untouched by the development in tourism. Cars of course are not allowed inside the village, however there are parking areas at a walking distance of 5-10 minutes from the suites. We stayed for 3 amazing nights in Mastio suite and we literally enjoyed every minute. The room was so clean and cozy that gave us the feeling we were the first customers staying. We appreciated small but important details such as the fully equipped kitchen with espresso machine, the excellent bathroom facilities, the always clean jacuzzi outside our room, the comfy COCO-MAT bed, the smart TV (we watched some Netflix episodes before sleep); there was even a lantern with candles which of course we used to make the night atmosphere even better. Manthos the manager, is a great and cool person who made us feel like good friends and gave us some valuable advice to spend our time (and money) in the island like locals. Friendly advice: after the sunset, grab a bottle of wine of your preference (the wine glasses are in the kitchen!) and chill in the jacuzzi staring at the Aegean sky – you will not regret it!
