Auberge du Vigneron in Cucugnan has a its restaurant built in an old winery, a terrase with panaramique views. 30M2 superiour rooms all with air conditioning.
We are at the restaurant tonight July 15th. We could have chosen any restaurant in the area. We decided to pick here. What a poor choice we made. I feel gutted. We took a friend and our family. The service was miserable and rude. The two ladies who served us were rude. It felt like we were intruding In the restaurant and not welcome. The food all came out at different times with no apologies. We had the wrong meal presented with no apology. I will never ever return to this restaurant as I felt the service and hostility from the staff was so appalling. The food however was nice. Maybe because we were English? I am not sure but no other restaurant during our stay made me write a review like this... I am still astonished how awful you made us feel... my children said how rude the women were and why wasn’t I saying something... I now am..

All Corinne’s rooms have a theme and she took me through each of them before I chose the one at the top with the view of Chateau Queribus - the Indian room. The place is littered with Indian paraphernalia - even the bathroom and toilet. Overwhelming really. I am sure tonight I shall dream of Rajasthan. Breakfast was sustaining. The room was very clean and the village of Cucugnan was absolutely charming. I could not have been more centrally located. On the hour the church bell rings next door. I could not find a bar open so Corinne brought me a delisious aperitif - how kind.

Our B&B is located in the little village, close to the cathar castle Quéribus. It is equiped with double rooms, private bath room, private carpark, garden, swimming pool. The breakfast is served on the terrasse. Free Wifi.
Pros: 71 euros if you stay more than 2 days. I liked the decor – not rustic. Clean and spacious room. Big, comfy bed. Clean sheets. Extra towels. Bathroom has enormous sink. Free parking. Room, Al Mouly, faced the street so can be noisy with locals talking with owner. Owner speaks Spanish. Free parking and breakfast. Breakfast was good - on the balcony with great views of the mountain and sufficient for me-not a big eater. Pool small and available 'by invitation only'. [Owner's family use for themselves for BBQ, dinners and sunbathing.] Went for a quick dip. Felt a bit uncomfortable. Reason why I booked B&B - to use the pool. Great location to visit the two châteaus: Quéribus and d’Aguilar. Village is very cute, “arreglado”. Go to the bakery next to the windmill – they make their own flour. Fabulous bakery!!! Pricey. We ate at l'Auberge de Cucugnan (not ideal for vegetarians) and l'Auberge du Vigneron (very good but pricey). And bought pottery from Benjamin Castellano. Cons: Check-out 10 am. Shower with mildew. Shower head. Only cash. No place to hang toilet bag, towels, etc. 1 chair to put suitcase. Only 1 night table.

This place saved my bacon. Dusk was approaching and I was very lost in the mountains and had just driven into Cucugnan. I went to the Cartiere, which was like a tourist store with post cards, for information regarding a hotel and the woman at the desk told me that she could offer a bed. Thus I was introduced to the Chambres d'Hotes. I had a clean bedroom with shower and bathroom. The window opened up onto the main street but it was very quiet. Breakfast, included, was nice with local products. The madame kept me company and offered travel advice for the day, which was greatly appreciated!!! the rate was very reasonable. I recommend this place.

We were staying on the edge of the village of Cucugnan and wanted to have a 'last-night' dinner before our children flew home. The staff at the Auberge were very accommodating finding us a table for 8 on the upper floor. The food was superb - we all ate from the set menu and there was a good choice of options to please us all including my sons girlfriend who is a vegetarian. My rudimentary French was adequate to communicate and we had an excellent evening of good food, local wine and lots of laughter.

Situated In the pretty and famous village of Cucugnan, between castles of Quéribus and Peyrepertuse, in cathar country, our two double rooms offer a peaceful terace to relax you, with view on the wonderful countryside. You can park car on a private car park and bicycle or motor bike in the garage.
The garage – no windows, just a glass door to the front yard left open at night and only covered by a long curtain for privacy. Very basic interior – room with space for one double bed and a very small toilet and equally small but separate shower room. French breakfast (home-made bread) was outside in a pretty yard with a glorious view of the valley. A short but very steep five-minute, breathless climb to the village where there are enough bars and restaurants to make this a great base to explore from – if you can survive the intimacy. Shower rating: 4/5

Three rooms only, plus a hite for 5 people. The hotel is upstairs (spiral out side staircase) and ideal for a reasonable stay and exploration of the region. The restaurant downstairs is good value. The breakfasts are very filling. No chhes or meat (available with supplement) but a good fresh fruit salad / toast / fromage balnc / viennoiseries / juice / tea / coffee - served with a great smile. Rooms are clean and simple and represent value for money.
