We stayed one night in Augherea House snd it was fantastic. A beautiful spacious room, with exquisite bathroom. Peaceful, quiet surroundings and wonderful hosts. The breakfast was delicious, fresh and top quality local products. The porridge with cinnamon a super treat. We will definitely return.

We are based on the outskirts of award winning village of Abbeyshrule, and a short drive to Ballymahon Town. Abbeyview House is a period property which was built in the mid 1800's and was later used as a Garda Barracks but is now a family home on a small working farm of cattle ,sheep, horses and hens . It has been restored to a high level of comfort and contains all modern conveniences but has retained its many original features. We have 3 Bedrooms which include 2 family rooms and 1 double room, accommodating a total of 9 adults. We are within a 2 minute walk to the Royal Canal Greenway and a 5 minute walk to Abbeyshrule Airfield. We also have the beautiful Newcastle Forest on our doorstep. We work with Midland Cycle Hub and you can collect or drop off your hired bicycle at Abbeyview House. We are more than happy to help with any query and if we cannot help we will do our best to send you in the right direction.

Stayed here for little break with my partner and was amazed by the house the hospitality, and feel really lucky to have had the chance to stay here. Loretta Brian and their family were so accommodating. So relaxing to sit in front of a roaring log fire reading a book enjoying the atmosphere. If you enjoy staying somewhere different with authentic hospitality then I’d highly recommend. Breakfast delicious homemade scones amazing.

The apartment was very central and we were given great instructions on entry to the private parking. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and comfortable. A bonus was finding a washing machine as this was midway through our holiday so it was great to do some laundry. Altogether this is a great place to stay when in Longford and I would thoroughly recommend it

We had never been to Ballymahon before but after visiting Skellys we will definitely be back! Pat and staff went out of their way to help us with anything we needed and the food is fresh and great value. The bar retains the atmosphere of a local and the walls are full of local and social history, everything you would want on a visit to the midlands (and the toilets are spotless.) This is a pet friendly location with staff that care about their customers, they went to great lengths to inform us of the places to go, things to do in the area and to make sure that we had everything we needed. Thank you so much.

This place is closed for the next 18 months or so while being refurbished. Richard, the caretaker/chef/security guard was running the place when we were there and his son was the barman. They are extremely nice and helpful people and I hope they are still part of the set up when it re-opens next year.

Hate to thrash a small business but I must in this case. Reserved to stay here overnight on a Saturday by phone call on a Monday. Was worried by the lack of detail asked by the host, so rang again before I left and informed her what time I was coming. She said that was fine. I arrived one hour before my going away party at work only for my calls to be ignored and no one answering the doorbells. Then eventually they sent a message saying sorry but they're full someone had double booked. Ended up having to sleep on a colleagues couch instead. Never in my whole life have I witnessed this level of unprofessionalism and staggering ignorance. And then to not have the courtesy of speaking to me face to face. Unbelievable. I'm still stunned writing this. I guess there's no guarantee that you won't be left out on the street by this place.

Service is nonexistent waited half hour for 2 deserts and cold cappuccinos. replacement cappuccino no problems but it wasn’like my usual cappuccino .there but the wait for apple crumbles was a disgrace. This was my second visit and DEFINITELY my last. The place wasn’t even busy. So no reason for the very poor quality and deplorable service
