So disappointed we got no sleep during our stay

Reviewed By McDowells2019

We had a lovely meal in Elliots Bar and breakfast was first class the following morning. Staff were very pleasant and couldn't fault the room. We realised there was a function taking place as we booked in at reception which we were unconcerned about . We were woken around midnight I assume by those attending the wedding (perhaps not) walking along the corridor chatting loudly and allowing doors to bang. A group of people standing below our bedroom window (room 202) chatted loudly until 4 am which resulted in us getting no sleep at all. We were looking forward so much to our stay at The Lodge and left feeling absolutely shattered and disappointed. Due to having not rested it spoiled a wedding we were actually attending at another venue that day as we were both so tired we had to leave the reception early . I advised the receptionist when checking out and she did offer me to speak to the manager. I declined this offer as unfortunately there's no way you can get your sleep back. We have enjoyed many meals at the carvery and Elliot Bar on our annual trips to NI from Scotland so it was a real shame our one night stay turned out the way it did.

Brilliant stay

Absolutely amazing! It is a home from home with nothing but luxury. It is the best b&b I have stayed in from the amazing breakfast to the beautiful rooms and the lovely garden. We could not have asked for a better experience. The b&b is within half an hour of the north coast and the views are some of the best in the world. They even have sky sports in the lounge for people like me who can’t spend the weekend without football!

My Birthday Treat

Reviewed By Andrea S

For my birthday my partner booked us in over the Jubilee weekend. I flew in from England all excited about my spa treatments. I was not disappointed. The staff as well as the treatments were fantastic. We arrived at the hotel early as I was booked in Spa but allowed my partner to check in half an hour early. We asked for iron and ironing board to be delivered to room as well as bottle chiller and 2 champagne flutes. I will say that the staff stayed sat down behind the reception area so we're hard to see as low down. Bar prices are good, food in restaurant was fine and service great However we were let down by the room we were given. It was really hot with no aircon. One of the two little top opening windows did not open and the other had a big crack in it. The bathroom was really outdated. Around the taps on the bath was badly rusty with a shower curtain. Surprised as majority of hotels especially after covid only have screens. The shower backdrop had lots of long hairs from previous visitors. There was 3 shampoos and only 1 shower gel. Only one set of towels so had to ask for another set. The bath towels are very small and old. Not soft at all unlike the spa. About 9.30pm retired for the night after a long journey only to find that our bed was broken. We contacted reception and was told the hotel was full due to jubilee weekend. We had had a drink and other hotels were also booked up so we had no choice but to stay. We did not get much sleep so gave up by 5am. We phoned down to reception and this time got Michael the night porter. He apologise as he had not been told. We advised that we have no choice but to check out. It was too early for breakfast but advised chef was due in so will sort some food for us. We travelled back to my partners home and went to bed. Around 3.30pm we phoned the hotel as we thought someone would have contacted us. Very disappointing. The manageress apologise and offered a full refund and a free upgrade to executive suite next stay. Would I stay again. Not sure. The spa was brilliant. Hotel let us down especially as it was my birthday treat. We booked months ago. That room should not have been in use. No way did housekeeping not know that bed was broken. Iron that was delivered to room had obviously been dropped as was leaking water. It is not hard to put the correct shower gel/shampoo out and towels. Shower obviously not clean. This was my first visit to Northern Ireland as my partner normally visits me in England. I will be back and will visit the spa but I would have to be reassured there has been improvements in the hotel before we would stay again regardless of the upgrade to executive suite

Wedding Celebration

Reviewed By Quest618220

Held our daughters wedding service followed by drinks and canapés last week. From initially discussions to execution on the day we could not have asked for better. Wedding service took place below the Oak tree in the grounds and it was truly magical. The weather was so good we were able to eat and drink on the terrace, food from Chef Alex was second to none, guests who had booked accommodation where blown away by how spacious and well designed, especially for those who needed disabled access. Cannot thank Jane, Lynne and all the staff who served on the day, you all made it very special. Thank you Derek and Siobhan Ferguson-Smith
