Manor House Hotel

Built in 1847 as a family home, The Manor House Hotel is a 19th Century Georgian Style Grade II listed building, originally named “The Grecian Villa” which many locals in the town still know it as to this day. The building is packed with period features including an elegant wood-panelled spiral staircase topped off with a domed ceiling skylight, decorative cornices, ceiling roses, dado rails, picture rails and our very own curved door! The hotel is situated at the western end of the tree lined Main Street in the beautiful Georgian market town of Cockermouth, the childhood home of William Wordsworth. The town derives it’s name from the confluence of the River Cocker as it joins the river Derwent and lies on the edge of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Feel the elegance and grandeur as you climb the spiral staircase to the comfort of your room – where no two rooms are alike with a mix of high ceilings and wooden beams. You will find modern amenities in your room including complimentary high speed wi-fi, flat screen Freeview television, luxury bathroom products and welcome tray. The hotel also offers free parking to the front of the hotel and a secured, outdoor storage area is available for pedal bikes.

Quality

Stayed at the hotel last weekend with friends and found the quality of service and food to be excellent. Would definitely stay again. Cockermouth is better than Keswick for pubs and restaurants in my opinion, which surprised me.

A Fabulous Place to Stay

The host was incredibly helpful considering we turned up at the last minute needing to book a room for two days. And we were delighted from the moment we walked in until we left 2 days later. What an absolute gem of a find in Cockermouth! Easy yet secure access, beautifully furnished rooms, and a fabulous location for the town and surrounding areas. Parking was arranged for the stay, with the car park located just around the corner from the hotel. Breakfast was arranged at the cafe next door and thoroughly worth a visit too. Right beside the hotel is a cocktail and gin bar - well worth a visit too. We can whole-heartedly recommend this beautiful boutique hotel, and we are certainly planning on booking again next time we are in the area.
