While the ruins of pyramids such as El Castillo and Kukulcan are the primary reason to visit Chichen Itza, they are hardly all that’s on offer here. Otherworldly bird-watching and stargazing experiences can be found within the Maya Jungle Reserve and in Hacienda Chichen's Bird Refuge. Daytrips run from both Merida and Cancun.

My hubbie wanted our kids to see Chichen Itza so instead of spending 13 hours with a tour we rented a car in Cancun and just drove ourselves. I thought Hotel Okaan looked pretty neat from the photos and it had good reviews and a short drive to Chichen Itza. We got there later than we wanted to but they were very accomodating. We were starving so immediately headed to the onsite restaurant. It was AMAZING! All the food was really good, the mojitos were so refreshing, rooms were clean. I actually enjoyed our one night stay better than the Moon Palace. No TV, not much internet just relaxing and quiet. My teenagers wouldn't want to spend a week there but I could just relaxing by the pool. Highly recommend and hoping one day I will make it back for a longer stay.

First, if you seek the Ritz, this place is not for you. If you want a vibe that is quaint, authentic, friendly and affordable then keep reading. Having just stayed a week at the Marriott Cancun Resort, this place was much different, on the positive side. There are 48 rooms and probably only 10 were booked. I can tell you it was COVID related. The indoor and outdoor dining area is huge - you don't have 30+ tables with occupancy levels this low. They got hammered by COVID. That said, there is nice pool area to swim and lounge. Outdoor eating. The hotel has a kick back area with a nice pool table and couches. You can really relax here. Downside: poor internet. No coffee in room. Very small rooms - like plan on sleeping there and that is it. Tap water not recommended to drink. Spend your free time lounging outside. It is an 80 peso cab ride to Chichen Itza. Plenty of onsite parking for your rental car. Everyone is COVID aware and do their part to keep guests safe.

An eco-friendly boutique hotel, the Hacienda Chichen is committed to sustainable tourism and is devoted to Mayan culture and local community welfare. The resort consciously promotes an eco friendly environment rooted in Mayan tradition, which presents guests with plenty of romantic charm. An ambiance of 'home away from home' welcomes the Hacienda Chichen guests. The property's close proximity to the adjourning Chichen Itza ruins is a major plus for those travelers wishing to avoid the crowds.
Hi, Please see below a very honest review of the hotel, positive and also negative. The Garden area is beautiful and also in a very nice and welcoming condition. A big pool welcomes you to take a swim or sun bath. Also the main house is very charming and welcoming. The restaurant serves good food with also considering a touristy place ok prices. The resort is very nature focused, which i recognise as very positive and supportive. But we had to sign a waiver which prohibits guests to consume or carry any food or drinks such as water to your room. The hotel says to keep away bugs and animals. That makes sense and we agree with. The staff emptied our fridge in the room with our sandwiches we bought for a day trip and also water and beer gave us the feeling of attending a middle school holiday camp. They said we will receive our food back when we check out. We where also thinking of having lunch at the resort, but the hotel concierge told us we should come back in an hour, due to the fact several tourist buses where coming to have lunch. WiFi is only working in the public area. Not in the rooms. The rooms are very rustic and nature connected. Which brings your room to live especially when you are not best friends with spiders and other bugs (dead or alive). The Mold in the shower is also not very attractive. Otherwise all good and I wish you a pleasant stay

While vacationing in Cancun my wife and I decided to go see the Chichen Temple. We wanted to arrive early for the tour refreshed so we drove into town without a reservation the night before. However these were last minute plans and we decided to wing it without a reservation. When we arrived into town we asked a policeman for his recommendation for a room. He said the Casa Luna would be a nice place to go. That would turn out to an excellent suggestion. We just wanted a clean room , comfortable bed with clean sheets and towels. This place really exceeded our expectations! The front desk was nice and helpful. The room was clean with big white soft towels, newer clean sheets and pillow cases ( no smells). We felt like we were actually guest and not a customer. And the price was excellent! Also, it was a very secure place. We slept well and were the first in line at 7:30 to receive our tickets at the park and had a wonderful time touring about the temple site.

Enchanting hotel in the best location of Chichen Itza. Beautiful bungalows with private terraces, air conditioning, cable tv, safe box, and local handcrafts. Extensive gardens with two swimming pools, one with unique reef formations and spectacular bottom, two palapas with hammocks for relaxation. Large, guarded parking lot. Restaurant Bar overlooking circular pool with the best food for the gods. Walk to Ikil cenote for a refreshing swim or to the Balankanche caves for underground adventure.
Positives first- good location opposite the Cenote and they have two pools which are welcome as its pretty hot. The aircon works, hot water in the shower and the sheets clean. Negatives its really tired the curtains havent seen a duster in many years, the doors are split and rotting the bathroom bit mouldy. It needs a lick of paint and some attention to detail. Food is average, breakfast is provided and is a decent serving. Wi Fi only by the pool and in the restaurant. Take your bug spray its in the middle of the jungle. I didnt do a huge price comparison for what was available in the area but I suspect this is a cheap hotel in a very busy area.

A World Class jungle resort in the heart of Chichen Itza. Bungalows built in traditional Mayan style with handcarved mohagony woods, stone, native marble, hand made stained glass and thatch. Oriented for maximum privacy and the best of views, bungalows are clustered around secluded swimming pools, created for guests wishing to commune with nature. All colaborators are native Maya. The resort has been named 3 times by National Geographic Traveler as "One of the 100 hotels we Love" and in their December 2011 "One of our loved 133 hotels in North America". Home to Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Sarah Brightman during their performances in Chichen Itza. The hotel has its own entrance to the archaeological site. Member of the Rain Forest Alliance.
They canceled on me the last minute. I couldn't contact them. After a week they sent me a message that they got overrun by armed thugs and they can't ensure my safety. Very disappointed in Mayaland, we had kidds to so we had ro find a place to stay. Of course we only got a expensive hotel, it not easy findin a place the last minute. Do nat book at Mayaland!

Luis was an amazing host, just like all the reviews say. He helped us out the entire stay suggesting the best times to go to Chichen Itza, best places to eat. Oh, and the air conditioning works great. If you are looking for a place to stay near Chichen Itza, experience something different, this is your place! Highly recommend!
