Lovely and clean

Lovely clean spacious rooms, staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was busy but worth the wait. Easy access from the motorway too. You can get a taxi to other restaurants/venues for under £10. Would stay again if ever back up in this direction. Thank you

YHA London Lee Valley

Past enjoyment spoilt with last stay

Reviewed By YolandaC527

I have previously enjoyed my stays here, but the last visit in February 2022, when venues re-opened their doors despite Covid-19, was an unrewarding stay and involved an unprofessional complaint procedure, so beware. I was only able to book a room for 4 but I badly needed some private time away from home and internet access to use my laptop and then break off and have some walks. However, I arrived into my room, which was a cold as a freezer, I could not find any power-switch to put the light on and had forgotten my mobile. I struggled for some time. I found the light-switch but could not figure out how to put the heater on. Reception resolved this for me. I then had great difficulty in switching on the bunkbed lamps. Took me ages. Well, I've never had problems like this before and I have travelled around the world! GUESS wot? The room's instructions were hidden behind a cabinet. Unfortunately, it did not provide any specific instructions and so would not have made any difference. The next problem was that I was not able to gain access to wifi in my very expensive room for 4 people. I could pick up another facilities wifi but not for this YHA. Reception were not able to resolve this. Therefore I had to traipse out to Costa Coffee and spend needlessly to use the wifi as I did not fancy the desolate public area. On my last night, someone moved in upstairs. The lack of sound proofing was appalling. Crash bank wallop---not the fault of the hefty guys above me---but the result of an unreasonable lack of soundproofing. When I left I accidentally left behind a silk pillow cover. I made a complaint about these various issues. The YHA complaint department was thoroughly patronising, ignored my disability, I was refused a partial discount, I never receveid the return of my silk pillow cover. All in all, a costly, uncomfortable experience.

A friends Reunion

If you are looking for somewhere to stay where your host couldn’t do more for you then Heather’s B&B is the place to stay. As others have said before Heather goes the extra mile. Her communication prior to our stay was second to none. She even allowed us to check in early and collected us from the station as it was raining and dropped us back the following day. Our room was lovely warm and clean along with the shared bathroom. Would recommend.

Chesnut Lodge

Total shambles

Reviewed By 1974alanc

The skip on the driveway was a dead giveaway, place was locked up tighter than a mermaids purse, except for round the back where someone had obviously tried to break in...broken windows and glass left where it fell. From what i could see inside the place, it was empty, fixtures and fittings ripped out, hopefully for a refurb. No owners on site to welcome us, although they were available to process payment, which i will be requesting refund of. Stay away from this place, unless you enjoy dissapointment.
