Messapia Hotel and Resort, a four star hotel located in a panoramic position at only 800 metres from the sea, is harmoniously integrated in the natural scenery of the Mediterranean maquis. This seaside resort, which was in the past a Messapian site and later a little Roman town, overlooks the stunning area of Santa Maria of Leuca on the eastern coast of Salento peninsula called “finis terrae” or “the end of the world” because land seems to finish here, jutting into the waters of the Adriatic and Ionian seas. The hotel includes 110 units, comfortably divided into hotel rooms and different types of apartments in order to satisfy all necessities. The rooms are equipped with well-appreciated services as tv, minibar filled on request, air conditioning, telephone, a safe, en-suite bathroom with shower and hairdryer. Messapia Hotel’s architecture and furnishing aim at respecting the basic elements of Salento environment such as the “Pajare” the Mediterranean maquis, but also materials as the local stone called “carparo” and the rush, chosen to create an extremely simple and functional style and to show the dexterity of local craftsmen. In the hotel rooms, the decors on the bedhead refer to old Messapian symbols such as the sun, the sea and the wind. Distinctive and unusual is the building that houses the hall, the restaurant and the main facilities. Its structure perfectly reflects the motif of a fortified farm-house or “masseria fortificata” an old architectural structure complete with a tower which was used in the past as a defence system. The new management has continued improving already existing facilities but also introducing new ones, such as a beauty centre with pure relaxation treatments provided by skilled physiotherapists and body care ones made by qualified beauticians; a hairdresser; a green area among pajare and centuries- old olive trees to be used as a solarium and children play-area; a removed art gallery; a gift shop; a new panoramic lobby for aperitifs, well equipped with rhum and Cuban cigers; a pizzeria; a restaurant; a roof garden used for themed supper nights and special events or parties on request surrounded by a stunning view.
Stayed here for six days in August of 2019. I highly recommend you are able speak and understand Italian to be able to communicate with the staff. Thank goodness my husband speaks fluent Italian because my Italian was not helping me. lol. The parking attendant was beyond rude. It is an extremely long walk rolling luggage on uneven pavement with a lot of stairs from the parking lot to the lobby, and then back to your villa. Hold off on bringing your luggage until you know where your room will be located. The lobby, restaurants, pool, and main areas were nice and seemed clean. However don't let that fool you, the rooms are very old, very dated decor, and tiny. The terrace or patio is a good size. Our room was not very clean at all. The rooms have a A/C unit in one window in the main room. The air doesn't make it into the bedroom. The window was broke and would not seal or stay 100% closed which made it miserable to sleep in the heat. You are required to wear an ugly swimmers cap in the swimming pool. Even bald men have to wear them. However, an extremely hairy chest and body was acceptable. Does not make any sense at all. They don't offer pool towels willingly and when you ask for towels the staff seemed very annoyed. Although I like the area and the proximity to our other activities/destinations, I would not stay there again.

Expression of the long-time hospitality tradition of Caroli Hotels, Hotel Terminal is nestled among the eclectic villas, on the central nineteenth-century seafront dedicated to Cristoforo Colombo, the heart of the town, with a beautiful view on Punta Ristola and Punta Melis, the extremity of Italy. The hotel’s rooms are equipped with bathroom, shower or bath with whirlpool, balcony, telephone, air conditioning with thermostatic control, color TV with satellite reception, channel radio, minibar. All the rooms are available for guests with disabilities. Hotel Terminal is linked to its private beach by a picturesque underpass. It is equipped with bunk sunsuit, sea umbrellas; besides it has swimming pools with solarium. The nautical club offers the opportunity to practice water sports, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and diving school. Our guest can also enjoy the gardens of Villa La Meridiana, the library, the giant screen TV room with video, internet point, the piano.
This should really be 4.5! We’ve just spent an amazing week here as part of a 3 week whirlwind tour around Italy. The hotel, location and facilities are fantastic, with helpful and attentive staff. Rooms are spacious and well appointed with everything you need (no tea making facilities but we knew this and took a kettle!). Pool area is kept immaculate and there is a private beach with sun loungers. Towels are available at reception. We travelled by train to Gagliano from Bologna which was very easy, although you need to arrange for the hotel driver to collect you from Gagliano. My only very minor criticism would be the staff setting up for breakfast need a little extra training as they crumple up the paper napkins and then try to smooth the creases out when they lay the table… evening meals have linen napkins and the food is very good, although the menu doesn’t offer a wide variety of choice. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if travelling in the area.

Montirò Hotel is located over a beautifully landscaped mediterranean garden in southernmost Apulia. As the only retreat in over 12 acres of unspoiled wilderness teeming with wildlife to explore exclusively, your experience at the Montiró Hotel is intimate and truly exceptional. Stone, earth, light... natural elements that blend together and give birth to picturesque views. A suggestive path, surrounded by olive trees, leads to a small "borough" built from scratch, where a few peculiar stone houses harmonise with nature and give the landscape a touch of magic: the magic of the ancient "pajare", typical dwellings of Salento that were used as shelters by farmers. Thirty-eight rooms are available for our guests, where beauty and simplicity coexist in harmony: floor made of Trani Stone, snow-white walls with backlighted alcoves, ceramic lamps and pictures of the landscapes of Salento on the walls. There are terraces that afford stunning views and gardens where you can smell the inebriating scents of Mediterranean essences and aromatic herbs.
This was the first hotel we stayed at during our almost two week stay in Puglia (with a side trip to Matera). It is about an hour and a half drive south from Brindisi airport. The grounds are beautiful. The reception area, situated near the parking, and the people working there, were warm and knowledgeable. After checking-in, we were taken by cart to our room, which was huge, well appointed, and clean, with a large terrace overlooking the pool area, the grounds, and the sea in the distance. The pool area is wonderful and very relaxing. A perfect way to soak up the sun on a warm, sunny day. There is a lunch and snack area directly off the pool, serving great food and drinks. We stayed five nights at this hotel and ate dinner at their restaurant twice. You are seated in a beautiful outdoor area, with a romantic and sophisticated feel. The food and wines were excellent (we tried their pastas, fish and meat dishes and they were all delicious, as was the incredible tiramisu) and the service was exceptional. Due to COVID restrictions, breakfast was served at the table, rather than buffet style, and in the same area where dinner is served. It was tasty, varied, and of high quality. You can order as much or as little as you want off the breakfast menu and it makes for such a delightful start to the day. What made the hotel extra special were the people who worked there, and everyone we met was pleasant, kind, helpful and took pride in their hotel. From the reception area to the restaurant, we want to thank everyone we met who treated us so well and made our stay so very enjoyable. We would especially like to thank Fernando, who seemed to never sleep, for his warmth, kindness and professionalism. A must stay in the southern tip of gorgeous Puglia.

Located right on the seafront, B&B Santa Maria Di Leuca is in central Leuca and air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Breakfast includes traditional Salento pastries and is served on the sea-view terrace. Rooms are fully furnished and each one features a TV and a private bathroom. Guests can enjoy 2 shared terraces, one of which overlooks the Ionian Sea. In the lobby, you will find a shared fridge and microwave. The property offers discounts at many restaurants and pizzerias nearby. The property is set on the southernmost tip of Salento, just 100 metres from the town's centre. Lecce is a 1-hour drive away.
We really enjoyed our one night stay at B&B Santa Maria di Leuca. We were greeted by the very friendly host who speaks excellent English and was able to make a number of good local recommendations for us. Our twin room was clean and had a fridge, TV, AC and a private bathroom with a window overlooking the courtyard behind (no sea view in this room). The beds were comfy and the place was quiet with good sound proofing as there were other guests but we didn't hear them. The courtyard offers drying racks for handing swimming things. Breakfast was Itian style with delicious choice of cakes freshly baked by the hostess as well as fruit, cereal, juice and tea and coffee and water. My only small critique is that the shower was very small - you touch the sides if you lean over to wash your feet. There is a wonderful view of the sea from the terrace at the front and it is a 6-7 minute walk uphill to the most southerly part of Puglia. And also under the bridge just next to the B&B is an excellent local (rocky) beach to swim and a good restaurant also. But lovely to promenade into town in the evening too. We really enjoyed our stay, and especially the warm, helpful welcome we received. Good value - recommended.

The antique farm house Serine of the 1600 has been restored taking care to conserve its original architectural aspect. Serine is surrounded by olives, figs, oleanders, eucalyptuses and pine trees and it is the ideal place to spend quiet and relaxing days with a very welcoming atmosphere. The farm house has 3 floors: on the ground floor 3 two-roomed and 3 double rooms, on the first floor a reception-desk, two dining-rooms, a solarium is on the 2nd floor. At the ground floor in summer any dinner is organised on a paved area surrounding the building, in the enchanting olive-trees and perfumed oleanders. The area is quite windy and shaded, in the green of olive-yards and the blue of the sea on the background.
We only visited for dinner, driving up from Leuca for the evening. The atmosphere is gorgeous, would have loved to see the farm in the daytime. The dining terrace is surrounded by olive trees, there was a cat walking around, idyllic! The service was excellent and the gentleman spoke fluent English. Set menu style is very easy to understand and the food was excellent in taste and quality. Our evening was made by a visit from the 91 year old owner who took the time to speak to us despite us understanding zero Italian and him having very limited English! Make sure you try the homegrown olive oil - its the best I've ever had!

Mario is a fabulous host and incredibly helpful. He gave us detailed information about Santa Maria Di Leuca and a really good map so that we could make the most of our short time there. The rooms have a lovely nautical theme and are very thoughtfully and tastefully decorated and very comfortable. It is lovely to have the use of the sun room and the beautiful garden and breakfast on the front terrace was absolutely excellent and enormous! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mario's guest house and hope to return next year.

One small downside first! Entrance is near a sharp bend so driving in and out is a little tricky. Otherwise we loved here. Rooms are big bright and clean. The pool is beautiful with plenty of pool furniture. Excellent breakfasts and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Nice place at the edge of the city with good views to the centre. The people were friendly and accommodation itself was more than adequate. So on these basis would visit again. But running the place, even though "just" a B&B, needs more professionalism: They had absolutely no idea of our booking (made online at their own website and had a printed confirmation!), and nobody spoke any English (though not a surprise), and after some waiting they tried to assign us to a different (worse) room than booked. After half an hour wait got a room similar to what was booked. Another couple had also big problems in trying to pay for their stay as the old gentleman didn't know how to use the credit card machine. And also two weeks before our arrival I had emailed them with a question, twice, but got no response. So if you book here during high season better call them to confirm to avoid nasty surprises.

Good things: - Clean - Very spacious apartment - Parking in front of the apartment - Airco - Kind owners. Things to be improved: - Warm water supply limited. - Takes long to warm up in winter - In deserted complex and area - when we stayed, in winter. - Takes bit of time for owners to arrive - they don't live here. - Location could be better - No sea-view.and bit out of town (residential area) We stayed in winter. That probably makes a lot of difference. On arrival there was no-one. Just a closed gate that we assumed would be the right address. We called the owner and took them bit of time to arrive to open the gate and door and let us in. We were the only ones staying in the complex behind the gate, all other houses empty, felt like staying in a ghost-town, cold and dark. On arrival in the cold place - and cold floor - we put the heating and went out for dinner. Not easy to find in winter as most places are closed for the season. But we found a good place in the end and searching a bit. Maybe because the emptiness but towels and bed-linnen were a bit damp, but still doable. We found an extra blanket and did our best to stay warm in the night. The boiler with hot water has a limited capacity and you have to activate it with a button. The shower cabin is quite small and after two quick showers the boiler is empty and needs some hours to recover. Next day the owner arrived in time to exchange the key and pay the bill.
