Comfortable hotel with a beautiful garden, bird nests. Located 5km from Bujumbura airport and near the Embassy of the United States. Breakfast and airport shuttle are offered. A very interesting rate is available if you have a long stay.
A very nice small Hotel with service minded staff. Beds very comfortable and spacious. A small nice pool which I didn't use due to time and some rain. Breakfast ok but could be more choices. But priceworthy Hotel which I would like to come back to with next visit at Burundi. Secure and safe place.

Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika**** is located in a wide park that ends up on a marvelous beach on the banks of the Lake Tanganyika. The hotel offers to his guests a luxurious and relaxing accommodation in an intimate environment and at only 5 km from the city center and the airport. Noted as the most beautiful resort of Lake Tanganyika shores, it is a four star hotel, that offers a wide variety of good quality services.
I stayed there for two weeks in January 2022. The staff was 100% available and always ready to help. Although I was there for work, my journey felt like holidays with the lake view and the semi-olympic swimming pool.

Hotel Safari Gate combines the followings: Beautiful gardens no where to be seen in Burundi + Location on the shores of Tanganyika lake + Very clean rooms and a Bonus of a warm hospitality.
Since 2006, until the Covid pandemic rendered international travel next to impossible in 2020, my work has resulted in my traveling from one country to another, mainly within the African continent, with the result that I have spent a great deal of time staying in hotels. I have stayed in a total of six hotels in Bujumbura, and the best by far is the Hotel Safari Gate. I spent a total of five weeks there between August and September 2021, and found myself totally "at home". The location along the shores of Lake Tanganyika is much cooler than places in town, the staff could not be more welcoming and accommodating, and Mme La Directrice is an amazing person, with whom I have had the pleasure of sharing many meals with scintillating conversations. I still go to the gym on a daily basis (good place to meet people) and often either dine or get take-aways from the "Paillotes" restaurant, located on the shores of the lake. Excellent and reasonably priced food, served for more quickly than most eateries in Bujumbura. The roof-top restaurant, La Terrasse, offers a delectable grilled aubergine salad, but is a bit pricy and the service can be slow. I did not use the pool (having had a bad experience at Hotel du Club, wherein I was infected by giardia - the cysts cannot be destroyed by chlorine) but it is very popular with locals and expats both. The garden is absolutely amazing (and I am a horticulturalist by training), with an incredible range of plant species, and frequented by many birds. If possible, stay at Hotel Safari Gate!

Urban Lodge resembles the classic guesthouses where you feel at home the minute you enter the place. The first thing I noticed was the high quality of the building - straight walls, proper plumbing and nice interior and the cleaning is spotless The staff is extremely helpful and do what they can to make you feel home. Breakfast was delicious and the aircon in the room (highly appreciated by we Scandinavians) worked perfect. If you want a nice quiet place to stay in Bujumbura and don't need a swimming pool or big buffets the big hotels offer - this is the place to go.

A Quiet And Securised Bnb Of Four Rooms And One Suit Under International Standing On The Hill Of Bujumbura That Profit To The Beautiful View On The City And The Lac Tanganyika
We stayed at the Goodlife Residence for two weeks in early 2018. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. TL;DR * Incredible service * Very comfortable beds and rooms * Delicious breakfast * Quiet spot with a great view But by far the best thing about staying here is the exceptional service. Laura helped us with everything, from getting SIM-cards to finding spots to eat out. She is nearly always available and speaks excellent English, and the owner Peter lives just next door. Even when we had a medical emergency, they could be counted on. Laura is also very good company, so we had a few lunches and dinners with her. There is a daily laundry service that is free to use, which is amazing. All the other staff, from security to groundskeeping to housekeeping were very accommodating and helpful. The residence has 5 rooms, and a large dining area with a kitchen that guests are allowed to use. One of the five rooms is on top of the kitchen, and has its own large veranda. We did not stay here, but it looked very nice. It is also slightly bigger than the others, so if you can, request this room. Our room was quiet (also thanks to the quiet neighbourhood) and very clean. The room is reasonably spacious and has a very comfortable mattress. We slept better here than anywhere else in East Africa. WIFI is usually good and free, and the included breakfast was great. The breakfast had bread from a really nice French bakery in town (Le Café Gourmand, also recommended), and an assortment of fresh fruit (mangoes, pineapple, bananas etc.). You can ask Laura if you have anything special you want to have for breakfast. The residence is a bit outside the main area of Bujumbura, but close enough to either walk to town (30-60min depending on where you’re going) or take a taxi (10-20min depending on where you’re going). As it’s a bit up the hill, Laura can always arrange a taxi. The upside of this is that it’s quiet and the view is amazing. If you decide to walk, you’ll no doubt be greeted by many people living in the neighbourhood, who’ve been very friendly and helpful to us. The residence has a very large garden with beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees. The owner led us through them and showed us the different plants. It’s a very peaceful, relaxing place, especially to sit outside your room on the porch and enjoy the view over Bujumbura and Lake Tanganyika. Highly recommended. On a small side note: if you want to stay at Goodlife Residence, please contact Laura directly using [email protected] or her phone number which is listed on Google rather than using an intermediary like Booking.com. The rates will be quite a bit better, especially if you intend to stay long term. They also have a pickup service from the airport, so let them know in advance when you’re coming.

Kangaroo Hotel is an oasis its well placed just a 10 minute drive from the Bujumbura International airport and 5 minute drive to the city center. Its a well equipped facility with Swimming pool,Excellent wifi, a good staff,2 restaurants, a coffee shop, and a bar. Its a good place to stay.
Our hotel reservation and airport shuttle were confirmed before our arrival to Bujumbura via email, this alleviated our apprehension. On arrival at the hotel our rooms were ready for occupancy well aerated clean, comfortable rooms. The environment is very quiet and tranquil and they have a pool. On my first evening i had a local meal for dinner of mukeke fish, cassava omugari and sombe vegetables... delightful. Their breakfast buffet spoils you for choice and fillings... the staff is very hospitable and ready to assist. The reception, corridors and furniture have great ambience and tranquility... Well done Kangaroo!!!
