The best available hotels & places to stay near Bristol

Bristol is a quirky British city with beautiful hilly vistas and plenty of historic sights to explore. Anyone interested in ships will have a blast aboard Brunel’s SS Great Britain, the world’s first great oceanliner, and the Matthew, a replica of the ship upon which John Cabot sailed to America in the 15th century. The graceful Clifton Suspension Bridge is another must-see.

Strong need for improvement

Reviewed By Pivott

Positive It‘s not too far away from the city center Negative 1. Difficult to find, i.e. no clear instructions from the hotel which address is to be used to get to the hotel-entrance 2. No own parking spaces although there‘s a large available area in front of the hotel -> here the hotel management has probably failed to negotiate a deal with the owners of the surrounding buildings 3. Although you have to leave your credit card as a guarantee when you check in, you cannot have your consumption booked to your room in either the bar or the restaurant. There is a distrust towards the customers regarding payment! Absolutely customer-unfriendly and unacceptable. 4. During our stay, the rooms were not properly cleaned and tidied: our used coffee cups were not replaced and the shower was not cleaned. 5. The staff is friendly but sometimes does not communicate professionally with the guests -> although we are relaxed, we are NOT the "buddy" of the serving staff. 6. The kitchen doesn't have a handle on his orders: it can't be that 3 dishes run out on a Saturday night. 7. in general it can be summarised that there is a lack of maturity -> here the management has to turn the wheel and initiate improvement measures.

Stayed here for a concert, staff were super friendly

Reviewed By tomjfwood

The hotel facilities are really close to the city centre which is great and only a short walk into the main area of Bristol. The room was a nice size and comfortable. The only down side was that the walls were quite thin meaning we could hear the plumbing when people were in the shower or using the toilet so the water was very loud. I didn’t use the shower so I’m not sure about water pressure or temperature but the room itself was nice. The bed was comfortable and I had a good sleep. But the highlight of our trip definitely had to be the staff both in the hotel and in the brewyers fair restaurant next door. All staff members were super friendly. On our first night of staying here we had dinner and it was really tasty but the waiter was also really friendly taking time to talk to us and have a laugh. Connecting with me on similar interests (Seek Discomfort), when we had a slight issue with the food they were happy to get us a new dessert really quick. Staff at breakfast were really nice the first morning, if only a little bit too friendly at that time in the morning. They made an effort to make us feel at ease and enjoy our stay.

Lovely staff, comfortable rooms

Reviewed By Irmani S

We arrived on a late flight from Portugal with a particular room booked which we had done through a third party booking service (queen). The hotel was clearly very busy and we were put into a room with twin double beds. This was not ideal and we asked the receptionist if it was possible to have the room we had booked. She moved us to a much nicer room (same footprint but better layout which meant I could share a bed with my husband!). This was a real 5/5 from us because despite an initial problem the really kind and professional receptionist went out of her way to fix it, and also comped us a couple of drinks which was unexpected and massively appreciated. It has made me much more likely to choose this chain again, knowing that a small hiccup will be dealt with nicely. Great staff. Room was comfortable and well proportioned and I like the fact that the toiletries are in dispensers so less plastic waste! The bar was lovely as well with really nice common areas to relax. Late night bar staff were charming and friendly. Well done Hilton!

bathroom tight squeeze

Reviewed By NeilC2607

Reception: Pleasent and very helpful efficient staff Room / facilities: Room number 528 is on the 5th floor and is clean with a green park view, the room contains a queen bed, 4 pillows (none of which were to my liking), hanging area, small bar fridge, safe, iron and board, tea and coffee facilities, desk and chair and single chair. The room is cosy and the bathroom is very cramped and poorly designed. We had house keeping knock on our door at 8.30am, when she was aware we were to check out (but had not yet) and were due to check out by 11.00am. Another staff member was in the lift as it arrived on our floor. She quickly tried to close the door before we could enter the lift. The room does have self control air conditioning with a window that opens 3 cm. Laundry: Self service coin laundry with 1 washers and 1 dryers costing £1.20 per wash and dry is £0.20 per 12 mins Parking: Parking is plentiful for about 30 cars and costs £16 per night. Car registration is required at checkin. We arrived back to the hotel at 3.30pm after a day out, and there was only 2 car spaces left (seperate to the 3 electric car charge stations). Having paid a hefty price for parking and to not be able to find park, is unacceptable. The hotel staff confirmed that the hotel does over book car parking to the level where cars park in non designated car spaces, and almost lock other vehicles in. Wifi: Complementary and good speed. No validation or password required. Breakfast: Available for additional cost, but not utilised on this stay. Conclusion: Great location and staff, close to city centre. Letdowns: Small bathroom, possibility of not having a car park upon your return in the afternoon/evening, window that does not open more. Location / Nearby: Bristol city and all its offerings are a close 10 min stroll. Tesco express market and Pret a Manger coffee within a 4 minute walk. Beware: No matter where you drive to, payment for parking is required. Most parking meters accept coin and card “tap” facilities. Generally after 6.00pm or 8.00pm parking is free, in designated locations. Getting to hotel: Best use GPS

Very nice hotel, ideally situated a short walk away from Clifton village and the spectacular suspension bridge. Reception staff were lovely, so friendly and helpful, especially Hanna and Judith. Room was very pleasant with a generous sized en suite bathroom and excellent shower. Next time we'll avoid if possible the bedroom immediately above the restaurant/bar outside seating area, as the guests/customers were very noisy until as late as 12.45am, when we were trying to have a much-needed early night.

Great night at the economics summer ball

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending an event at the wonderful Harbour hotel. While the food, drink, and music was excellent, the service was particularly perfect. David Mills, I believe his name was, is possibly the nicest man I have ever met. His smile and passion for catering was evident as he moved from table to table, checking how the guests were enjoyed their eve, and whether he could help in any way. The wait staff were extremely organised and led superbly by David, as if they could be serving customers at the Ritz. Honestly, I have never experienced such exquisite service and management as I did last night.

Standard Premier Inn, does its job very well and Breakfasts are great with lots of choice. The hotel is close to the area where all the bars are (5 min walk) and a Tesco express & Pret a manger close by, the immediate area is a bit soulless but the Bridge Inn is also nearby. Parking is a problem but some street parking is available nearby, after 6pm is priced ok. Right by the BBC Studios
