Jimmy and Brinn Little have had the honor of keeping up the tradition of great food and lodging at the Virginia Creek Settlement since March of 2003. The main restaurant was originally built in 1927 Over the years it has seen many things such as a bed and breakfast, bar, and cafe, The 5 unit motel was added in 1954 and has hosted many road weary travelers, and the campground has seen teepees, wagons, cabin tents, to its current form today. We feature delicious Italian/American food and wines at their finest, as well as hearty, homestyle breakfast, lunch and dinner to delight the whole family. Our meals are carefully prepared and served in a pleasant rustic atmosphere by people who care about making your dining a pleasurable experience.
Our plan was to take a historical vacation, and visit places we had not been or had heard of. Virginia Creek was the perfect place to start - and we stayed 2 nights! It's evidently been in business for years, and is a quaint old west town theme place to stay - in fact you can choose to stay in a cabin (with rustic western decor) a private cabin set right in the old west, a covered wagon - yes seriously, or a gypsy wagon, or a cabin big enough for a family.. And the Virginia Creek runs through the entire resort. The owners have set up a Trout Farm that feeds the creek. Every place has a campfire spot with comfortable seats and there's a play area with CornHole, BBQ Pit, and pet paradise. Walk across the bridge and follow the easy trail along Highway 395 for a wonderful pet walk. Definitely will stay again. And a spectacular thankyou to Cindy who checked us in and took such great care of us. Oh - it's 1 mile to the turnoff for Bodie State Park, which was a MUST SEE for us.

The staff here are lovely, helpful and efficient. However the rooms are very dated and ours had a rather odd smell, it was in the corner and was extremely dark, our friends next door had a lovely bright room so we were just unlucky. However the rooms have plenty of towels, two luggage stands and lots of toiletries and were nice and clean. Parking is easy and the town is so quiet it felt very safe. Unfortunately although our confirmation said breakfast included we were told when we arrived that they stopped doing that 2 years ago. We knew that getting breakfast would be a pain in such a tiny place and so this was a big disappointment to us and caused an increase in our costs which we hadn’t expected. The bakery over the road doesn’t open on Wednesdays so we ended up buying cereal pots at the general store and begging some spoons from reception! We had a problem with the toilet in our room but they were incredibly responsive and sorted it really quickly. Be aware that if you arrive late there is no where to eat, store and burger place close at 6, ice cream and burger place close at 5! This is a reasonable place to stay and the staff definitely go the extra mile!

On a recent road trip we chose this place in advance because it looked pretty good. Believe me, it's not. From the check-in until departure the next morning, it was just awful. The woman who checked us in was aloof and certainly not welcoming in any way and the room (and premises) were broken down and dirty. RAMSHACKLE is the best way to describe it. No privacy, either - the decks off each room are all connected, so you step outside and there's your neighbor(s) five feet away. And don't be fooled by the Walker River advertising - the river looked like some drainage canal in some urban area. I definitely would not recommend this place. Plus, there is no decent place to eat or drink in the town. Pass it by!

Redwood Motel is a clean, quiet, and comfortable motel with friendly staff. We are nestled in the high sierra, north-end of Bridgeport, and at the corner of Twin Lakes Road and Main Street. Our non-smoking rooms (some allowing pets) include a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee-maker, air-conditioning, Directv on flat-screen TV's, and free internet access. Guests enjoy the BBQ access in the common area and relaxing in our gazebo. Fisher-people appreciate the fish cleaning center and the ability to store and/or freeze their catch with the supplies and freezer provided. We are pet-friendly (as Lucas, the Owners dog, could express) but also set-aside rooms that have never allowed pets for those with allergies. Also provided is a morning snack (juice and pastry) to get you started on your day.
The owner told me the Motel was built right after World War II by a returning veteran. He called it the Redwood Hotel because it was built out of redwood, which was cheap at the time. It's a small one-story hotel on the west end of downtown (downtown is only three blocks long). All the rooms have been updated with good wifi, ceiling fans, a microwave and fridge, and an easy-to-use TV. The breakfast was definitely limited--just sweet rolls and juice--but otherwise I was very happy with the place.

From the moment we arrived at willow springs resort we were made to feel so welcome by the owners Becky & John . We stayed in one of the double cabins which was really cute and had everything we needed , fridge , coffee maker , air con & heating , the bed was so comfy and we had a really good sleep ..The scenery around the resort is beautiful and close to the resort is Bodie state park an old mining town with lots of history , this is definitely worth a visit .. Across the road from the resort is The Settlement which serves the best breakfast , so much choice on the menu and the breakfasts are huge … We will definitely stay at willow springs resort again …

The 1877 Historic Bridgeport Inn hotel, motel, and restaurant features comfortable rooms; and fine dining breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, (except Wednesday). Open from mid-March until November 15. Located in the heart of Bridgeport, California near Yosemite National Park, Bodie Ghost Town State Park, Mono Lake, and great fishing lakes and streams. Many hiking trials and off-road vehicle trails cover our mountains and valleys. Local back country skiing, and downhill mountains at Mammoth and June Lakes are also available to our guests. Fall colors from late September until November are the best in the west.
We stayed in the Motel portion of the site. Although clean it was very dated and lacked some simple amenities such as mini frig and access to ice. To get ice you have to walk up to the main house and ask for ice. You are then given a 1 gallon zip lock half filled with ice, limited one per room. We ate dinner and breakfast at the inn. Dinner was great and their appies and steaks were fantastic. Large portions so prices were acceptable. The only disappointment was that they do not have many kids options and could not figure out how to support a request for a half size/kids size spaghetti and meatballs. That was sad since of all meals that is the easiest to downsize. Breakfast was again disappointing. Since we were a group of 5 they had to sit us in the parlor were we were forgotten. The service was terrible, 4 meals arrive and the two pancakes for the child finally showed up 10 min later, even though two of the other meals had a single pancake in them. Would not recommend breakfast there, feel cross street would be better.

I was looking for a place to stay about 5.5 hours from our home (first afternoon of our road trip) and Bridgeport was the place. This lodge was just fine for what we needed, a place to stay the night. The room was clean, comfortable enough for a short stay, and easy to find. If we were there for a fishing trip it is really set up well, with lots of outdoor seating areas, fire rings, rod storage, fish cleaning station and so on. It is not a fancy nor romantic place, but that is not what we needed. We were passing through in (a very cold) February. The heater was efficient, and my very cold wife slept warm. The room was set up very well for charging phones and so on. The bathroom had basic amenities. The coffee maker was appreciated. We were warned ahead of time by the manager that there were no restaurants open in Bridgeport (winter, 7PM arrival), so we stopped at Topaz Lake Casino. This turned out to be great advice from her, and it was indeed the last open place between Reno and Bridgeport. We could have brought sandwiches or something to eat in the room, especially if it was warmer weather. It is located south of Bridgeport, so you'd need to drive back into town if you were able to eat at a place. It was a quick, short drive to the hot springs the next morning (we were there at sunrise and snagged a pool). That morning we ate breakfast just south at the Virginia Creek Settlement. It was a great breakfast.
