A charming family run hotel set in the beautiful French countryside close to the Mercantour National Park. We have a restaurant and do barbecues every weekend in the summertime.
My wife and I were on a diving trip and had pre-booked this auberge after visiting Monaco and before setting off to enjoy driving the high cols in the Alps. Run by two Danes who were very friendly and helpful, our room was clean and tidy and the place charming. We had dinner outside on the patio and the food was excellent, and the views stunning. Apparently very popular with car groups and clubs and a well positioned place to stop. If you visit, ask the Danish gentleman about the dirt road over the mountains to a Medieval village about 8kms away. Worth a visit. Would happily stay here again if lucky enough to drive in the Alps again.

Spent 3 nights here with my 3 teenagers doing the Roya Evasion activities during the day. We were in the bedroom with the 2 bunk beds which was a bit small for 4 of us but perfectly adequate. The setting is fabulous-mountain views, surrounded by olive trees and lemon trees. Very restful-especially in the hammock. Sociable meals on the terrace were really lovely with good, plentiful food and wine to wash it down. Highly recommend this place for a few days off grid!

Stayed for one night. The hotel is centrally located in this picturesque town and the staff were friendly. However our room at the back was very noisy (kids playing, traffic and the dawn refuse collection truck). The shower head didn't fit properly, which resulted in a jet of water across the bathroom. Breakfast was fairly basic.

My family and I stayed two days in this place in August and would never recommend it to anyone until the management or owners change! First off a little about us, we are pretty simple travelers definitely not highbrow Americans needing every possible amenity at a hotel. All we ask for is decent amenities and friendly service. We have stayed in hostels and very highend hotels. We actually enjoy staying at holiday-inns lol. So like I said we’re definitely not super picky. The very first experience with the owner of the hotel was problematic so we should have know from that. He would not allow anyone into the space until his check in time of 4pm. I mean he literally would not let you walk into the hotel to use the bathroom or even wait around seated in the lobby. The second sign should’ve been that he did not honor our online booking through Booking.com but instead said that he canceled it and we need to cancel on our hand then pay him directly as he could offer a better deal. This usually would not be an issue with us (as a good deal is a good deal)...except for his comments that the Internet will soon perish and that people bother him lol. Once we got past the attitude of the owner, the hotel itself was actually very beautiful. The rooms were average size for the area and the beds were pretty comfortable. There was no AC in any of the rooms but we requested a fan and was given one. The grounds are beautiful located next to a river which is amazing to help you fall asleep. There is a swimming pool and breakfast was provided as part of the stay. However in order to get to the swimming pool you have to go around the hotel because for some reason they designated the middle of the fastest pathway to the restaurant and Pool a private area off limit to guest. This made absolutely no sense as it literally is in the middle of the connection from the lobby and the restaurant/swimming pool area. At night I realize that the owner just wanted to have an area where he can watch television and have his dinner not to be disturbed. Again perfectly fine if it wasn’t in the middle of the lobby area where you must pass through. All in all I would recommend you spend your money somewhere else. I have a real problem patronizing places that treat people poorly. My theory is, if you are in the customer service business then provide customer service! The arrogance and insulting nature of the owner made this stay very annoying on what I had proven to be a great family trip through France and Italy. To top it off we went into the town had a drink and dinner at one of the local bars. It’s seem to be where the village got together at the end of the day to talk, drink and enjoy themselves. As we sat and drank and ate, we mentioned where we were staying and literally everyone we spoke to said we were crazy for staying there lol. They all acknowledge the poor service and rude nature of the owners.
