Hotel Tugu Blitar, unprecedentedly the best hotel and restaurant in Blitar, East Java, is housed in a colonial building that was built in the 1850s, and was previously owned by a distinguished family of Blitar. After the second World War, the hotel was called Hotel Centrum; many years after the name was changed to Hotel Sri Lestari – and later become Tugu - Sri Lestari. Being the oldest hotel in Indonesia, the hotel building appears as a beautiful East Javanese mansion from the Dutch colonial times, with giant white-washed pillars, furniture from the late 19th century and the early 20th century, nostalgic photographs and elegant chandeliers. The building was carefully renovated to its every detail in the beginning of this century, to preserve its artistic, charismatic, and historical characters but blending them with modern luxuries. To discover the real, unspoiled East Java means a visit to the town and surroundings of Blitar. Blitar is where most of the remains of Majapahit Kingdom still stand timeless, including the largest and most beautiful Hindu temple complex in East Java, Candi Penataran. This nostalgic town portrays the untouched, exotic Java, surrounded by some beautiful, unspoilt beaches, tropical landscape, beautiful rice fields and countryside sceneries. It also has a romantic flair of the early days of Indonesia; in fact Blitar is where Soekarno, Indonesia’s first president who proclaimed the independence of this country, was born and buried.
In Hotel Tugu Blitar I got a luxury Indonesian stay. I love this hotel concept because it looks like a hotel museum. The service, both at the hotel and the restaurant was so great. I think all I got here was worth every penny. There was nothing we didn't enjoy. The location was very close to many good places too.

We choose this hotel because the other hotel is full booked due to Eid celebration. We thought that it's just a small hotel and didn't expect anything, but hey this is over our expectation. The hotel is cheap, the facilities is great for the price. They have clean room with king koil bed, the bath room is clean and they provide hot shower. The air conditioner is cool and silent. The give us amenities too even it's basic. The breakfast is good, evethough not so many choiches. I think this hotel is great value for money.

I suggest or recommend you for not stay at this hotel. Cleanliness very very bad. Hospitality from the staff is very very very bad. I complain on the AC, he said that the Engineering Staff already back home. And there is no improvement unless I pay another Rp.80.000 for upgrade to next category. The room was like the hotel already 30 years old. But the staff said is less than 10 years old. I said that this hotel is already 30 years old. They put fragrance on the room and the also put fragrance at the pillow and your bed. Not recommend to stay at this hotel. With the same rate, you can stay at better hotel, such as Puri

Rooms are small and I can't even closed my door properly because it was blocked by the edge of the mattress. The one annoyed me most was they put their sticker on my car's rear windshield without asking or any permission.
