The area is best known as the home of Keoladeo National Park, an outstanding bird refuge that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the winter it's a stopover point for migrating birds and hundreds of species have been spotted. The best way to see the park is via bicycle rickshaw. Be sure to take binoculars and a good camera! You can get to Bharatpur from Delhi by train, bus or private car.

The Iora Guest House, a place to unwind, relax and rejuvenate and that is all without costing a fortune! Iora Guest House is run on principles of the total satisfaction and value for your money, where you can enjoy the best of food, and a clean, well-furnished comfortable stay just 500 meters away from the Keoladeo National Park taking care of all amenities and much more.
This is a small but clean and well maintained guest house with all basic amenities. Serious birders stay here. Interestingly, the property owner himself a birder and photographer. He is the ideal person to guide people who are coming for birding. GH has nice wall garden and bird houses. Food is good here. GH is at walkable distance from the sanctuary, but located little interior, first comers may struggle a bit to locate it. Tariff is reasonable. I recommend this property for birders needing cheap and best accommodation for longer stay. Advance booking is adviced.

Chandra Mahal Haveli is discerning and charming heritage experience in a village called Pahersar, about 25 kilometres from Bharatpur city. Built in 1840 ts 170 year rich heritage is witnessed many generations of multi cultural and multi ethnic past. The Haveli is a representation of Persian architecture, which is very different from the palaces and forts of Rajasthan. Today, the Haveli is guaranteed to transport you to gone by era. Nestled right in the center of this timeless rural village, this experience is far removed from the fast paced urban lifestyle. With nothing but simplicity and agriculture around, it brings you closer to some earthy rural realities. Restored painstakingly, this haveli retains a lot of its old world charm while at the same time having all the modern amenities that is a necessity to today’s traveller. The Haveli has been upgraded to provide you with every expected service and convenience, from elaborate Food & Beverage to well appointed rooms and suites. Recreation facilities include an outdoor swimming pool area and wide open manicured lawns which provide enough and more room for leisurely sprawling around and recreation activities like outdoor dining, play area for kids and traditional evening entertainment.
I just loved this heritage property. I stayed in suite room which was quiet spacious, along with a sitting area , a balcony and a Jacuzzi. The pool area was really beautiful having Greenery around. One could sit and chill there whole day. The staff is really good. Their service is so quick. pushpender ji, amit ji, Mukesh ji, vinod ji and ravinder ji all are really good staff. Would really reccomend this property.

Bharatpur's largest resort hotel, Swaraj Resorts is located on over 10 acres of land. The hotel has lush green gardens, a swimming pool, WiFi and excellent facilities for both Indian and foreign tourists. The hotel is located right outside the bird sanctuary and arrangements can be made for bird sanctuary tours. Due to close proximity to the Bird Sanctuary, various bird species can be seen around the property. The hotel is also Bharatpur's FIRST 'green' hotel, with solar panels installed for water heating and an inhouse garbage recycling system. The hotel also has the only Fusion continental menu in town!! So be it Nachos and cheese, Thin crust pizza, or fried chicken and gravy, we got you covered!Come, relax, have a drink and enjoy nature the way it was supposed to be.
We have just checked in. The rooms are spacious but very dirty linen...the sofas are so full of dirty marks that cant even sit on it..half the things are broken ...the moment I sat on bed I started sneezing...the bedsheets pillows etc look unwashed and unused since looong. Service the most pathetic ever. No internal phone to call reception. U have to call via mobile. One room geyser was not working. One room the bathroom door was not shutting..chairs are broken...breakfast was very sad. If u are on a holiday and visiting bharatpur bird sanctuary with family this is definitely not the place to stay.

Welcome to The Birder's Inn! This boutique lodge is just a mere stone's throw from the world famous Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary (only 300 meter walk). The lodge offers 23 spacious rooms that overlook a large private garden populated with fruit trees that attract various birds. The lodge also has a tasteful bird-inspired decor as the Owner is a well known local Naturalist and bird lover. The mogul inspired pink sandstone architecture gives the feeling of a mystic bygone era as you enjoy your stay. You have all the necessary modern comforts like air-conditioning, hot and cold running water; there is a multi-cuisine restaurant & grill that serves a delectable variety of dishes. During the winter there is a nightly bonfire in the garden to relax around after a long day of birding in the park. The Birder's Inn is run by some of the best local naturalists; people who were actually born inside the park!
The place is walking distance from Bird sanctuary. The rooms are spacious, espcially washroom and dressing place. The rooms were neat and clean. Room service was good. The food was a little expensive and no options to look around for food.

The Bagh is a heritage hotel set in 32 acres and in two hundred year-old garden in Bharatpur Rajasthan, it is located just four hours away from major destinations such as Delhi, Jaipur and Gwalior. The Bagh offers visitors an opportunity to experience quiet luxury near Keoladeo Ghana National Park, one of the most famous bird sanctuaries in the world. The hotel's 38 rooms are located in three different residential complexes. A restaurant, banquet hall, coffee shop, library and a gym, all situated in a verdant orchard, allow guests to enjoy solitude and companionship in restful indoor and outdoor spaces. Each of the Bagh's 38 rooms is unique. Spacious bathrooms, luxurious fabrics, fine furnishings and the amenities of modern technology let the weary traveler retreat and recoup after a day of sightseeing and bird watching.
Its a heritage property with all the luxury amenities with a nature touch. As the name suggest, its property full of greenery around. As one of the reason to visit Bharatpur is to go for brirding, this resort itself is home to awesome birding experience. It has multiple bird hides to explore. Rooms are big. comfortable with heritage touch. Food is nice with good options. Resort don't arrange trips to the main national park so one has to manage it and its approx 5-6 KM from the resort. Even if birding is not on cards, this resort is good place for weekend getaways and relaxation. Its within 4 hrs dirve from Delhi NCR Its one of the best place to stay in Bharatpur & much recommended

The Palace was refurbished and renovated into a hotel in 1994. The specialties of Laxmi Vilas Palace, Bharatpur lies in the beautiful location enhanced by the sumptuous lunch and dinners. We personally supervise the preparation for our extensive A La Carte Menu, offering the true flavors of our continental and local dishes. Here at Laxmi Vilas Palace you would relive the history of Bharatpur, feel the warm hospitality extended to you by our present generation living in the Palace.
The property is good but it seems they give preference to wedding events or very high profile customers. The reception and lounge was reserved for people with special access and made my family very uncomfortable. The restaurant is very far from the rooms and the service is pathetic to the extent I was asked to place food order in one go and no top ups would be entertained (this being a 4 star with a heavy tariff). There was only one request that the suite must be checked for lizards and bugs; but the moment we entered the room there was a lizard and multiple bugs around the room. The food was amazing and the room was huge but the biggest issue is WATER as they don't offer any mineral water bottles and each bottle costs a 100 Rs. Overall you feel that despite paying heavily for the stay you don't really feel that you got any Royal treatment (especially the dirty pool and lack of response from the person at the reception).

At Hotel Sunbird we offer you the best of everything - food, comfort and hospitality. We assure you that you will not feel homesick at Hotel Sunbird because we believe in the personal touch in offering you a home away from home. Our Bedrooms are well furnished and spotlessly clean, as are the bathrooms (with hot and cold running water). The entrance to Keoladeo National Park is just a few hundred metres away. Our staff is in touch with the park staff and know the best and most knowledgeable bird guides.
During a brief birding trip to Chambal that was organised for me by my friends Praveen Vashistha and Peter Lobo, a night halt was organised at Hotel Sunbird, literally a stone’s throw distance from the signature sanctuary of Bharatpur, the Keoladeo National Park. With a view to give myself one evening session of visiting this famous park with the guide assigned to me for this Chambal trip, Ghanshyam Singh, I reached the hotel at about 2 p.m. Warmly received by the front office staff in a simple yet snug office, I was ushered to my room that turned out to be a wonderful mix of tradition and modernity. “Very spacious and pleasing” were my first thoughts as I entered the room. Floral artwork on the ceiling and the walls gave the room a royal character. The décor of the room was done in good taste yet subtle, the furniture was just perfect, linen freshly laundered and washroom squeaky clean. Staff of the hotel was very caring with the warmth that so characterises everything about Rajasthan. They were quick to respond to each and every one off your calls. Must compliment Mr Laxman Singh, the owner, for grooming the staff so well. Whenever I come back to Bharatpur, I am sure to come back to Hotel Sunbird as my chosen destination for the stay.
