I am baffled by the recent bad reviews. The staff was friendly and helpful and the lobby and room was very clean. I stayed on a Saturday night where it seemed like the area was very busy and check in was very fast and easy. During breakfast, the staff was very attentive and food was good and check out was also very easy.

It was a decent place to stay for the price. Front desk was very friendly, everything was clean and smelled like disinfectant, and it was a relaxing 1 night stay. It had a convenient location to the park next door and things were within easy walking distance. Housekeeping did a great job!

We recently returned to an old friend we've frequented many times since the 70s. That friend, Coolfont, and its beautiful views has happily returned. We stayed in a recently redone A-frame cabin. It was comfortable but we had a rough beginning. The road from the lodge to the cabin is really in bad shape. It wouldn't be a problem for a pickup or other 4-wheel vehicle but our low-to-the-ground Civic was hard-pressed to dodge all the holes. An alignment is probably in order after the back-and-forths to the cabin, but we managed to go slow and careful enough to thankfully retain the exhaust system. Upon arrival at the cottage, the central air-conditioning hadn't been plugged in (apparently). The maintenance man thankfully came and said someone had unplugged the compressor (for some reason) and after a couple hours, we had the cabin cooled. It was an unseasonably hot and humid June day. The restaurant is remodeled and looks very much like it did back in its heyday. Though the food was good, it seemed a bit pricey, but the service was friendly, which made up for it. Hopefully, they will offer, at some point, a regular buffet which was what made the old restaurant such a legend. Thanks to Janell and Doug the maintenance guy for your help and the lovely waitresses that were very kind to us as well. We look forward to returning to our long-time friend, cool-Coolfont (albeit with a 4-wheel drive).

My husband really wanted a vacation. We hadn’t been anywhere since 2019. My husband is disabled and I wanted something that would be easy and low stress. The lodge is very new, clean, nice; the staff leaves something to be desired. We checked in and found the room lacking paper products. Tried to help my husband bathe the next day and we found the hot water wasn’t working. The front desk said they’d send someone to our room, 15 minutes later still no engineering/maintenance staff. Called again and was told there was a problem with the hot water heaters. We went out, came back, still no hot water, turned out our room shower was plumbed backwards. The front desk should know this! This is a handicapped room! Asked for service on Friday and again on Saturday. Saw the housekeeping cart outside our room Saturday. We were out of the room for five hours, but no one could give us new towels and take the trash! The engineer who came to the room when we had the hot water problem said he’d make sure we were on the list. I went to the front desk to speak with a manager about the problems we’ve had. No one identified as the manager, but acted like they were. They didn’t really listen to me, pointed to a sign that was not out when we checked in and basically blew me off. The Lodge has potential, but it’s not there yet. I also agree with other customers, the lounge has great prices for drinks. The menu does need more vegetable options. The service staff needs help. Some people in this area are friendly and welcoming, others make you wonder why you decided to spend your hard earned money here in Berkeley Springs. Loved the spa and bath house at Berkeley Springs State Park! Amber and David are awesome masseurs! Breakfast at Charlotte’s Cafe was lovely and our server Kennedy was delightful.

I am so glad we stayed here! We stayed in the Blue room and had everything we could need, there were extra pillows in the closet, a fan and the room has a heater and air conditioning. It also has a small tv but we didn’t even watch it. The bathroom is 2 doors down the hall but it is locked so only you can access it, the room is also locked and you are given keys to each door. There is a general room to eat and hang out with a couch and tv. It was a great place to sit and read for awhile. There is also a patio right outside. Curtis, the innkeeper was so friendly and made us feel right at home. We brought our chihuahua and he treated her like family. We missed breakfast the first morning but on the 2nd day Curtis made French toast and eggs, so yummy! The Antique mall, coffee shops, and Berkeley Springs State Park is within walking distance down the street and Give Purrs a Chance is directly across the street. We are definitely coming here again!
