Jensens Bed and Breakfast

A warm welcome awaits you in either the Blue or Rose Room. Both feature queen beds and have en suite bathrooms, one with a claw foot bath. Enjoy a glass of port with our compliments in the Drawing Room - a lovely place to relax in front of a roaring log fire on cooler evenings. There's also an extensive library, stereo, cards and a chess set. Breakfast is served in the dining room or on the rotunda with fresh seasonal fruit and cooked breakfast with home-made preserves, using the best local produce. In the West Tamar Valley, overlooking the Tamar River, Jensens was originally built as a family home in early 1900's by Jens August Jensen, a Danish gold migrant. The fine federation homestead has large rooms and high ceilings and is filled with lovely antiques. Its northerly aspect captures all day sun, and its superb garden features a rotunda that is a perfect place to relax with a glass of wine and take in the amazing views. Jensens is perfectly positioned for the Tamar Valley's many great wineries. Directions: take the shared driveway up the hill.

Stayed one night at Jensens, wish we could have stayed longer. The house is in a great location with amazing views. Carol looked after us so well and the breakfast was delicious. The house is very comfortable and beautifully presented. Looking forward to returning one day.

Very nice cabin

We stayed one night in the "Kookaburra" cabin, after travelling to Beaconsfield to visit mine site and the nearby Seahorse World. Cabin was modern and very clean, and located in a nice quiet area with view of water.

Tamar Cove Motel

A tastefully decorated restaurant with modern styling - an up-market yet casual dinner venue transforms into a relaxed café-style lunch venue during daylight hours wiith two levels of dining including a spacious al-fresco deck on the upper level for the warmer months. Our modern Australian/Asian/seafood menu presents the best of Tasmanian flavors using local produce. Motel rooms with queen and family rooms, a beautifully maintained solar heated in-ground pool, BBQ area, and a fully licensed restaurant, Tamar Cove is a great place to base a Northern Tasmanian holiday. Relax on the sundeck, rest your eyes on the mountains, reflect on the tranquillity. Take an early morning walk in the garden and begin your day - perhaps a fishing expedition, a tour of the fruit farms or wine tasting at some of the nearby vineyards. General Facilities: Bar, BBQ Facilities, Breakfast, Solar Heated Pool, Licensed Room Service.

A bit put off

This is a motel that is clean but could use updating. The grounds are nice and I'd think during hot weather that pool would be well worth it. The little sofa was so soft and used for too many years and time for a change. But that not my complaint. We arrived in afternoon after a long, cold rainy day. Reception is in the restaurant and was easy. We got to our room and the heater worked fine. Went into the bedroom and the heater did not seem to work. The wifi showed that we were connected but no wifi. Noting. Zero. I needed wifi to book a hotel for the next night. I went to the restaurant and spoke to another woman who said "must be the weather". I asked if we could have the password for the desk wifi (she was on wifi at the desk so I knew she had it) and she said nicely that she would message and get back to me in about 30 min. Never did. About an hour later I went back to check about it and the restaurant is locked up and the car gone. We went into the motel restaurant for a nice meal and asked again. So my point is the owner should have gotten back to us. Weather was perfect next day and still no wifi. I also mentioned the heater not working in the bedroom and the owner said "oh it is broken". Again my point is, when a motel only has two rooms rented out of perhaps ten shouldn't they give a room out that has everything working?

Three old rugby mates on a tour of Tasmania

Reviewed By TheBigManTours

Great location with excellent views across Tamar River to Bell Bay from the bar and all of the rooms and onsite parking The mangers were friendly and quickly checked us in (3 people travelling and each had a room). All the rooms were clean and tidy with all the normal requirements - older air conditioning. We all agreed that whilst rooms had had a basic paint & re-carpet recently, they were a bit tired – also the bathrooms etc were circa '80's (maybe ‘90’s) and really need a full refurbishment We ate and drank in the bar - good pub food!! All agreed we would probably stay again unless something better opens in the area. The cost of $140 is a bit high - $100-$110 is probably more the mark.
