Running along Germany’s southern border with Austria, the Bavarian Alps are one of the country’s most beautiful areas. Skiing is, naturally, one of the favorite pastimes. You’ll find Germany’s tallest mountain, Zugspitze, rising more than 9,700 feet in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district (also a great hiking area in summer). Berchtesgadener Land (home to Watzmann, Germany’s third-highest peak) is another major ski area. Hochwanner, the country’s #2 mountain, is also in the Alps.

We were in town to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau. We stayed two nights at the Staudacherhof. Fantastic hotel, great location, and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. Fiona at the front desk was especially kind and helpful. We booked a Private Spa Night and had a wonderful time. Many thanks to Anja for the delicious food and creating such a special night for our family. We've stayed in many hotels throughout Germany and this was definitely our favorite.

My family and I stayed in this hotel for one night in the last week of May. The hotel is beautiful. Great location to the walking center of the town. The staff at reception were very gracious and hospitable. The rooms were beautifully furnished with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. The food at dinner and breakfast was also delicious. I wish we had a longer time to stay. I will certainly come back.

This 4-star hotel offers a historic atmosphere, romantic restaurant and traditional wine cellar. It lies outside the Bavarian city of Rosenheim, 3.2 Km from the center of the city and main train station. The Hotel San Gabriele is a former monastery. It offers individual rooms with individual charm and free Wi-Fi. Many rooms at the San Gabriele feature vaulted ceilings and four-poster beds. Some rooms also have a waterbed or jacuzzi. A rich breakfast buffet is available (for an extra cost) each morning in the Hotel San Gabriele. The rustic-style hotel restaurant, Il Convento, serves fine cuisine in a romantic atmosphere. Guests can wine and dine on the terrace of the San Gabriele on warm days. The hotel has good road connections to many attractions in Bavaria, such as Lake Chiemsee (24.1 Km) and Munich (59.5 Km). Free on-site parking is available.
Great quirky hotel. Not the best curb appeal especially with the building works going on next door where the hotel is expanding. Room interesting and comfy. Friendly staff. We ate at the restaurant and was not disappointed. Watch out in the car park as its a bit uneven, our car bottomed out. Great stay would return

I enjoyed my stay at the Hyperion Garmisch-Partenkirchen so much. The hotel is located within walking distance of the best restaurants in town, the main train station, the bus and cogwheel train lines to the Zugspitze, and so much more. However, the thing I enjoyed most about the hotel was the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make my stay comfortable.

We stayed in this hotel just to get a night rest. For me this is one of those hotels that can make me depressed. It was clean though and the bathroom was oké. The beds rather uncomfortable and too small. Only good if there is no alternative.

We stayed here 5 days. Loved it. 1.5mi to Edelweiss. Short walk into town. Biggest downside is GYM/POOL/SAUNA hours. 8am-9pm? I wanted to work out first thing in the am and sauna AFTER my kids slept. Not really a big deal but NO lotion/pen/paper provided. But it makes sense that there is a NIVEA store downstairs. Genius supply and demand move eh :) A blessing in disguise but NO phone in the rooms. The POOL(s) are TOP NOTCH. One of the best I’ve ever seen. Kiddie pool. Lap pool. Outdoor pool. Spa. And a mild sauna by the pool. Plenty of rooms for families and sleeping. I would definitely like to come back here again.

A wonderful hotel very much in the Bavarian style on a quiet road with direct view of the alps. Cozy rooms, very clean, good wifi and very friendly staff. All in all one of the best hotel stays we ever had. Can highly recommend this hotel or may be I should keep it as a well hidden secret.

Agree with most of the 3 star ratings here. Hotel was under renovation, but the rooms look a bit dated and worn. Location is perfect only a short walk from the beautiful Tegernsee, and free parking is always nice Breakfast was great and sufficient in variety. Staff is a bit reserved but efficient and friendly.

Our experience was filled with nice touches. When we booked we received confirmation with a picture of the type of room we were going to stay in. As restaurant on reduced menu on Wednesday and Thursday I had requested some suggestions where we could eat and received a comprehensive list. My wife is a coeliac and she was provided with fresh gluten-free bread on both days and encouraged to take some to make a sandwich for lunchtime. All the staff were friendly and helpful without exception and we were made to feel really welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable and matched the picture we were sent. We had a balcony overlooking the lake (albeit somewhat obstructed by trees) and there were cushions and a tablecloth for the balcony furniture. Breakfast was delicious and fresh - able to order whatever eggs liked. We ate at the hotel on the Thursday evening and whilst a reduced menu once again they catered well for my wife - they adapted the Wiener Schnitzel. The hotel is right by the lake and the promenade which leads to other restaurants and provides a really nice run. In summary cannot praise staff enough and hotel was extremely comfortable and convenient.
