Stayed recently for the second time, in cold wet weather. The rooms are well maintained, comfortable, bright and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Everything we needed was supplied, coffee, tea, bathroom products, hairdryer etc. Both rooms have been spacious with sitting areas and tvs. This room, unlike last time, did not have a walk in shower, the shower over bath was a little awkward, the bath being a little too rounded, giving little room to stand although it worked well with plenty of hot water. The room warmed up very quickly when heating was switched on, forget the controls on the radiators, just switch them on at the main switches (perhaps mention it in the room file). The rooms are in a quiet location, a very short walk from the pub, with plenty of parking at the back. The location is good, next to a pond full of wildlife. There is a nice walk to nearby Basing House and Old Basing along the nearby stream. The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially Ivana in the mornings, sorry about the spelling? The included breakfast was excellent. The popular pub has a decent choice of regular pub grub and a regular weekly quiz which we really enjoyed. There is a large outdoor seating area which would be nice in warmer weather. We will stay again when visiting family.

Just a warning I was woken up by gym classes starting between 6. & 6:30 am. It was like waking up in a nightclub and I was two floors above the gym level. Not ideal if you want a restful morning or have a busy day ahead of you.

Easily found from the motorway. Plenty of free parking. Good food and leisure amenities close to the hotel. A good sleep and good value for money We took the meal deal with the Beefeater next door and thought it was good value for money. Breakfast had plenty on offer so happy with that also.

We booked a Golden Wedding Anniversary lunch for 33 at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, both before when planning the event and on the day itself, they made suggestions and last minute amendments that contributed to a lovely day. The food was delicious and well presented. Our guests commented on the quality of the food and what a lovely celebration it was. I didn't have much prior experience of the hotel so didn't know what to expect, but was impressed. I would definitely recommend.

Built in the 1880s as a private home for Thomas Pain, it subsequently enjoyed a rich and colourful history, with owners and visitors including the rich and famous. Today it is a 72 bedroom, 4 star hotel surrounded by woodlands and seven acres of private grounds.
Staying at Audley's Wood is always a treat for us. It offers such a calm, warm environment. Whether you are sitting in the lounge by the fireplace, snuggled in a wing back chair in the lounge, or enjoying the day at an outside table the hotel offers you everything needed. The staff are exceptional with Sebastian and Max always willing to lavish attention to every detail. The rooms are extremely comfortable and quiet with logs of divine pillows and fluffy towels (warmed by the towel heater, of course). We highly recommend staying at Audley's if you are in the area.

The Red Lion Hotel is a well established three star hotel in Basingstoke town centre close to Festival Place Shopping. Parking is free - guests need to register their vehicle at reception on arrival. The Red Lion is perfectly located for conferences, meetings, parties and weddings. The restaurant and bar areas front the London Street side which offers easy walking to the retail area. There is lift access to the bedrooms. Rooms are en-suite and have Freeview TV, wi-fi and tea/coffee making facilities. Travel cots and additional beds are available in certain rooms.
Was suppose to stay at hotel for 2 nights but ended up only staying 1 due to lack of sleep. Walls were so thin we could hear everything from the rooms next door, including phone alarms. When we left, the receptionist didn’t question why we were checking out early, this ended up with me having to tell her and no refund was offered. The location is great, but would not recommended staying here if you don’t want any sleep!

The four-star Basingstoke Country Hotel is surrounded by mature woodland and provides a serene, relaxing setting for any holiday or special occasion. Just off the M3 yet surrounded by thatched cottage villages, it has 100 air-conditioned bedrooms, including 12 premium rooms and 9 deluxe room. It is an ideal base for exploring the cathedral cities of Winchester, Salisbury and Chichester and the unspoilt beauty and wild ponies of the New Forest. With attractive landscaped courtyards, Health & Leisure Club with indoor swimming pool, and Scures Brasserie restaurant serving local food, it's a great spot for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
If you can accept it’s going to be extremely old fashioned you’ll be fine. Room was nice and warm for me as I’m always cold. Didn’t try and put the air con on. Room was also clean, no issues there. Nice firm pillows and fluffy duvet. Tv large and worked fine. I had room 225 on the end of the first floor which had twin beds. Wifi was good in the room. Free parking, didn’t see any kind of rubbish or mess in the car park. The buffet food was better than I expected, good choice at breakfast and dinner and hot which can be a rarity for buffets, also vegan / gluten free options although I think you might need to say in advance of arriving. Staff were nice and helpful, opening the bar in middle of day so I could get a drink. I stayed for a conference. Colleagues used the gym in the morning which opens at 7 during the week. Yes there are families being put up there by the council, they were no trouble, everyone I saw seemed quiet and respectful and actually just happy to be there and enjoying their meals. 3/5 because it’s so dated, and I think the hotel should respectfully mention the situation in advance rather than finding out through tripadvisor/on arrival and thinking where on Earth have I come to.

Checking in staff walked off whilst in the middle as shift finished and had to wait for other staff to complete the checking . It would of taken about 2 more minutes to complete. The duty manager wouldn’t give me a first name to make a complaint

Built in 1795, Oakley Hall has a distinguished and fascinating past. The author Jane Austen was a friend of the Bramston family – the then owners – she was a frequent visitor to Oakley Hall and it is mentioned fondly in Austen’s letters to her sister Cassandra. A later owner, William Beach, added a second storey to the house, so creating the grand and impressive building that 21st century visitors can still enjoy. He also employed landscape gardener and architect Edward Milner to design Oakley Hall’s gardens. In 2014, a major restoration project saw Oakley Hall Hotel returned to its full glory, ensuring that visitors will continue to fall in love with Oakley Hall’s Georgian splendour and charm for many years to come. With 50 beautiful bedrooms, suites and even a delightful Garden Cottage from which to choose, guests can indulge in a luxurious stay, enjoy a relaxing drink in the 1795 Bar & Lounge and a relaxed 2 AA Rosette dining experience in the award-winning Glasshouse Restaurant. Outside there are acres and acres of stunning grounds to explore. From a gentle walk to an early morning run or an afternoon of clay pigeon shooting, there are plenty of things to do.
Our children booked us in at the Oakley Hall for one night for my wife's birthday treat. From the time we checked in until we checked out we were extremely pleased the the hotel. The staff were first class, very helpful and accommodating with nothing being too much bother. The evening meal was really good, not over the top, but good quality meal with great service and the full English breakfast was excellent. The Hotel has obviously been recently renovated and was very clean and smart, would definitely go again and would recommend.
