We had the misfortune of staying here for 2 nights while visiting Caral, near Barranca. While on first impressions the hotel seemed good, our opinion quickly went downhill. The room was very large and quite modern; they're trying to make it like a decent hotel so it has extras like minibar, phone etc and they clean the room every day. But we had a lot of problems. Firstly, they'd only given us one bath towel and two small hand ones. We called and they brought us another big one. However, the next day when they changed the towels it was exactly the same as before and we had to ask for an extra towel again - pretty stupid. The shower was hot on the first day but only for one shower (and we don't have ridiculously long showers!); the second day there was no hot water at all. We rang to complain and they sent someone up; 20 mins later we got a call to say it was fixed. It wasn't. We had a bus to catch though so no more time to waste and had to make do with cold showers. Although the hotel is quite new, the bathroom already had plenty of mould growing in the shower and the sink didn't empty; there was also mould growing by the wardrobe in the room. The breakfast was one of the worst we've had in Peru and very disappointing for a hotel. All you get is a couple of stale dry bread rolls and one egg. They brought us papaya juice the first day, which we don't like, and the next day no juice at all rather than offering us something different. Wifi was extremely frustrating - it went up and down constantly and we had to keep restarting the router. Staff tried to be helpful and were friendly, but just didn't have the information we needed. Would recommend asking at the tourist info over the road rather than at the hotel. And finally, it's very noisy - maybe it was partly because we were there for the celebration of the town's founding, but there seemed to be people shouting and music playing all night. It's a noisy town anyway - try to get a room off the street! Would not bother coming back here and it's certainly not worth the 100 soles we paid. Options are limited in Barranca however!

I am rating the bar in this hotel. Absolutely 5 star. The hotel is very basic, but I guess no one stays for long in this place. Staid there for one night during a round trip through northern Peru. The staff is very friendly independent of reception, breakfast service or bar. But the absolute star is Flávio (I hope to remember the name) and hope management knows they have a gem. You have to try his pisco, with fruit, nuts, coffee beans and pisco leaves and his excellent pisco sour. Should you (have to) stay in Barranca which is boring and not very attractive go to this place and you will overcome the night with a lot of pleasure!

We stayed one night at this clean, simple Hostel. The owner was very nice and offered us a secure parking for our rental car for free (trustworthy) and even drove us to a nice restaurant as we were really hungry and exhausted from a long drive. Great experience, we would definitely recommand this place.

"Hospedaje Lucia" invites you to enjoy your stay in Barranca We are located in a central area just 3 blocks from the city's main square, and 5 minutes from the most popular beaches in Barranca.
No volvería. Ni lo recomiendo

We arrived in Barranca to a nightmare AirBnB. 6 of us were in the town for the Pan Am games and found ourselves in a bind for a decent place to stay. We found the Gran Caral Hotel online and they said they could accomodate us for the week. The hotel was very clean and Emma and the staff were so nice. Even with the language barrier, they went out of there way to help us find restaurants and provide local information for us. They made us feel at home in their home! The city itself is noisy it seems at all hours, so be prepared for that! Otherwise, enjoy it for what it is. Jim and Julia (Canada)

Recomendado.

Hotel Cellai is located in Barranca in an extremely characteristic and lively area within short distance to the beach and seaview.
We had a terrible night, due to a one-man runned open-air disco just in front of the hotel, which started at 9 PM and continued extremely loud music relentlessy until 6:00 AM. Despite closed windows and earplugs it was impossible to sleep. We could see from our window that the disco did not have any visitors all night(!), but that seemed no reason to lower the volume or stop at, say, 3AM. Only when the sun was up the man, still alone, stopped his music . The caretaker of the hotel told us in the morning that he had complained, but that it was his neighbour and he did not want a bad relation with him. So be warned if you consider staying a night in this hotel.

This hotel is a little bit out from the very centre of town which probably helps at least a little bit with the noise levels (Barranca is a noisy place, but this didn't bother me). My room was clean, and pretty much exactly as seen in the advert picture. The best thing was the owners who were extremely friendly, and helped me a lot when visiting Caral and Paramonga, as well as chatting to me at length enduring my basic Spanish! Stayed two nights and was very happy with my choice.
