A Victorian country house, the hotel features beautiful studios, one and two bedroom suites with carefully-considered amenities, including Wi-Fi and 32-inch TVs. Enjoy the resort's indoor pool, various sports courts and spa.
Gorgeous hotel and grounds. Suite was well appointed and very comfortable. Indoor pool is large and has a childrens pool. Restaurant is very good. We had lunch and dinner during our stay. Highly recommend making dinner reservation ahead of arrival. Restaurant is not currently open for breakfast. Hotel will deliver continental breakfast for a fee. No 45 Guest House is located in the village of Ballater in the Cairngorm National Park. A large Victorian house set in walled gardens and with original features such as pitch pine staircase and open fire. It has a traditional Scottish feel with tartan carpets, stag's head and plenty of leather chesterfield sofas for relaxing. It is a short stroll to the River Dee and to the many shops and cafes in the town. All rooms are en-suite. Guests at No 45 can enjoy a delicious breakfast served in our conservatory in the summer and in front of a log burner in the winter months. We take pride in serving a quality breakfast which includes homemade and locally sourced food. We have plenty of free parking available for guests and just a short walk to the centre of Ballater and its many shops, restaurants and cafes. Packed lunches are available (please pre-book the day before) and we can provide a drying room for wet clothes if you are caught in the rain. We hope you choose to stay with us at No 45.
No 45 has everything you need and more! Alison (and doggy Teddy) was very welcoming, helpful and informative….nothing was too much trouble for her. The room was lovely with a lovely big en-suite. It was lovely and clean, comfortable bed, and lots of amenities. Down stairs, there was a breakfast room and 2 comfortable lounges to sit in. There was also garden seating, in a beautiful garden. Breakfast was on another level compared to some guest houses. The home made granola was delicious, along with everything else. Alison is a fantastic cook and baker! The location was fantastic, about a 10 minute walk from Ballater, and close to the many stunning Ballater trails. Overall the place was fantastic, we will be back for a longer visit next time. Thank you Alison.

Set in the heart of Royal Deeside making an ideal location for many sporting & tourist activities in the area including Balmoral Castle, whiskey distillery, Cairngorm National Park and Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve on the doorstep. Great food, fine wine and Malt Whiskey to enjoy in front of real fires. Family owned and run country house hotel so you can be sure of a warm welcome and attentive service.
Spent two nights to give a full day to visit Balmoral. The bedrooms are on the small size for the very comfortable 4 poster bed. The food is excellent especially the whisky bread pudding! The owner could not have been more helpful when a member of the party was taken ill. The acid test, would we go back - yes.

The Auld Kirk is a fine example of an early Victorian Scottish Free Church building that is set in the heart of Royal Deeside, within the Cairngorms National Park. Constructed from local granite, the Auld Kirk sits on the western edge of the historic village of Ballater, looking onto Craig en Darroch (the hill of Oaks), on the road towards Braemar. The Auld Kirk houses a comfortable and stylish coffee lounge that is popular with the local population and visitors alike. A great place to stop for a morning coffee, meet friends for a light lunch or linger over an indulgent afternoon tea. Fully licensed, our recently opened, fully stocked bar is a great place to relax with a beer or one of our fine selection of whiskies. The whole place was completely redecorated in early 2020 to give the place a bright and airy feel.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Auld Kirk. It has a great location, a short walk from the centre of Ballater, The room was comfortable, breakfast choice is extensive and the hospitality outstanding. A great place to stay.

Access great walks and beautiful Scottish countryside straight from your pods, whilst being only 5 miles from the picturesque village of Ballater.
We had such a good stay! Showers are high pressure, bathrooms clean, tea and coffee are complimentary in the super cute tea shack and there are plenty of games in the snug! Perfect place for a highland getaway! I’m close proximity to loch muick and loch kinord for some superb walks!

We stayed two nights in a luxury double room. The hosts were warm and welcoming, the accommodation very clean, great en-suite in the turret including a good overhead shower. A lovely building, stylishly presented. Car parking immediately outside the front door. Breakfast was perfectly ok, with plenty of choice from cereals and juice, good coffee, through to various hot breakfast items. It’s a short stroll into Ballater, where there’s plenty of goodrestaurants, as there is next door. Balmoral Castle is a short drive away. (we wish there was a carpet on the landing to cushion the noise of other guests’ footsteps first thing in the morning on the wooden floor!) Would we stay again? Yes.

Absolutely loved our stay and hope to come back again for a longer visit in the future. The new renovations are spectacular and everything was thoughtfully appointed. Impeccable service and delicious dinner in the dining room. All of the staff we met were incredibly friendly. A must visit when you're in the area.

Darroch Learg is located in the village of Ballater in the Cairngorms National Park and stands in a sunny position in wooded grounds on the slopes of Craigendarroch. Darroch Learg boasts a wonderful outlook across the valley of the River Dee to the hills around Glen Muick. With ten lovely bedrooms, delicious food, comfortable sitting rooms and stunning views, Darroch Learg is a haven to which many have returned time and time again.
We stayed at the Darroch Learg for a few nights on our holiday to Scotland and loved every minute of it. The hotel is set in a very beautiful location and our family room had the most stunning views of the Cairngorm National Park. It is set in a quiet location within a few minutes walk of the town centre of Ballater. The attention to detail, food, cleanliness and hospitality was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble! It was a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay - thank you very much to Fiona, Nigel and everyone at the Darroch Learg! Susannah & Fraser
