Disappointed at the Hotels Intransigence
Reviewed By 486BobBWe accept that travel; during the pandemic has been fraught - and last year when the travel rules relaxed we booked a long weekend at the Douro Royal Valley and we were really looking forward to the trip. Everything went swimmingly until the British Government changed the travel rules (yes I know this is not the hotels fault!). Unfortunately their cancellation rules were 72 hours out or pay for entire trip. The change happened in rules occurred less than 24 hours. I spoke with the hotel about credit for future visits or pay night one only to no avail. A very painful lesson from an industry looking to get back on its feet and I am certainly happy to help. However, it will not be the Douro Royal Valley that i will help in the future. A shame really - even Ryanair gave a travel credit against future flights!

Lovely special location and staff really care
Reviewed By Soton1_12This hotel is charming. It is like going back in time and just a beautiful spot. I would have liked to have stayed for longer and would be a great place to sit back and relax. There was a train station just down the road. The staff were lovely and really made us feel welcome. The dinner and breakfast was superb. The hotel were happy so have to assume they are treated as well as the guests. Lovely to go somewhere where the staff care.

Reviewed By Richard RMy wife and I have just stayed with Joaquim and Eleanor at O Conchego das Raizes in Baiao and we had a wonderful stay. The accomodation was lovely and really reasonably priced but we can not say enough praises about Joaquim and Eleanor the owners their English is very basis and our Portugese is non existent but the help they went out of their way to give us was fantastic, not only did we get a beautiful continental breakfast of homemade of breads, cakes jams, orange juices Tea and Coffee they brought Tea and coffee to our room phoned Taxis to take us into town so I did not drink and drive the taxi was really cheap we will return again for definite thank you to both of them and wish them much success and health

Reviewed By Dwight SA relaxing stay in a hotel on the upper bank of the Douro River. The views are stunning from our balcony. The rooms were large and well appointed. The staff we friendly and helpful. Indoor and out door pools with sauna steam bath and full spa. It’s a fantastic quiet hideaway to relax. Don’t miss staying here.

Reviewed By PetroselloNice room and lovely staff. Very helpful. We stayed in the off season, so the restaurant was only open in the weekend. The staff provided us with tips for good restaurants in the neighborhood. Breakfast was good and with homemade products.

Reviewed By britunaatorCasas de Pousadouro is the perfect place to get off the beaten track and unwind from daily responsibilities. It is a gem in Douro Valley and has scenic views from every window and spot in the garden. The staff is very welcoming and created a safe and positive atmosphere already on our arrival. They were very helpful with every problem that we had and were kind enough to give us plenty of recommendations for our stay. The property itself is spotless and is being cleaned every day and the rooms and houses are very stylish with modern equipment. We also got breakfast delivered to our house every morning. Overall we had a marvellous time in Casas de Pousadouro and we can't wait for our next visit there! Thank you!

Reviewed By ParkkanniCasa Lavand'eira is a magnificent place to stay. We spent two night enjoying the peace and scenery. The estate is in beautiful state restored by the owning family. The pool and garden are very relaxing and estate wines are available during the day. Inez was very helpful throughout our stay and Alexandra, the owner, showed us the chapel and a vast collection of classic cars. Amazing hospitality from start to end. Thank you!
