The Pearl Continental Hotel Muzaffarabad was inaugurated on 29th June, 2007. It is situated in the beautiful cup shape valley of Muzaffarabad, the land of velvet green plateaus, charming lakes & falls. The Pearl Continental is situated in the capital city, which is the heart of political enlightening activities but also has allure in itself. The panorama of the intact city and the junction point of Neelum & Jhelum Rivers “DOMEL”, present a thrilling splendor from “MAKRA Peak” adds unbound magnificence to Muzaffarabad.

Jagran Resort has to be the most terrible resort of my travelling experience so far. Ineffective staff with no hospitality coupled with dirty and poorly maintained place. I would have never gone there if I hadn't booked in advance. This place has no internet unlike other resorts which cuts you off completely from the world and takes you back to the stone age. Would not at all recommend it to anyone.

Just at the door of Muzaffarabad, the Capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is a fascinating view of River Kunhar falling into River Jhelum, the two rivers are different in color so when they finally intertwine, the site is one of the splendor. La Orilla Hotel and Restaurant can be found amidst River Kunhar, this is where you can witness the delightful and fascinating connection of three rivers.
Rooms are basic, but cleanliness is suspect. Toilet shower is on the wrong side. Hot and cold water tap has been reversed on the shower. No sink shelf to place any toiletries. No bedside lamp. Not enough power points to charge your phones or other paraphernalia. Only great feature is the Jehlum River running alondside!

Disclaimer: We left for our holidays a day after the lockdown was lifted so one must be more forgiving as the Travel/Hotel Industry has had to make a lot of cutbacks due to downsizing because of Covid. Also, AJK is relatively new to Tourism so one must give them time to grow. What needs urgent attention by the government is waste management. Sadly, all the waste matter including sewerage goes into River Neelum. Don’t know where to start. They have HOSPITALITY down to an art! From Mr Noman Abid (the owner’s son & manager) who did our reservations & was basically my ‘go to guy’ from the word go! Noman helped me plan the trip, where to eat, what to eat (he recommended Wazwan at Neelum view Mzd & we are so grateful), I could just go on but then it would be a review on him, lol. We were so fortunate as we had the owner Mr Abid with us throughout our stay. We didn’t need any entertainment as he regaled us with stories of his amazing & exciting life. We were made to feel so much at home that we actually cut short by a day our trip to Taobat to come back to a taste of home on the way back. Wish we could have brought Mr Abid back with us along with ALL the others. Mr Idrees (aka Qari Sahib) is the caretaker assistant manager/part time cook & anything else you want him to be. Everyone in Sharda knows & respects him. We were so grateful that he accompanied us to Sharda University & the power plant & recited Surah Rahman for us (at our request) in his melodious voice mashaAllah. Shahjee the cook was the naughtiest. He cooked up amazing meals for us at exactly the time we requested (didn’t experience this anywhere else in AJK) & then further tempted us with food he cooked for he staff (complimentary) which of course we would also want the next day, again. He is very eager to learn new things & jointly made an apple pie with us, using the limited resources available in Sharda. Do try his Steam chicken! Amazing! So tender. Shahjee is the only one in AJK that I didn’t have to teach scrambled eggs to. Again, he tempted us one day to try his cholay tarkari at breakfast…wow! He still shares pictures with us almost daily with the view, weather, his creations & makes us more nostalgic. The housekeeping boys/waiters Inaam & Zubair were like genies..always there whenever we looked up…waiting to serve. Wonderful boys, we learnt so much about the Kashmiri youth through them. Both the boys are pursuing further studies & working to supplement it. Our duas with them. Always eager to work, uncomplaining. Thank you! Imran & Shehzad were the errand boys. I think it was Shehzad who accompanied us on a trek to protect us (from I don’t know what, but Noman & Abid sahib insisted, lol). Learnt of their lives. The location of the resort was just as we wanted; private, away from the noise, pollution & tourists. The river, forest were right there & it is the only hotel on the strip with no construction after it. The rooms, sheets, towels were clean. We were provided with an extra mattress at no additional cost. That is what I loved about the place. They weren’t out to make a buck out of you..just wanted you to be as comfortable as possible, very service oriented. Very unlike the mercenary attitude at some of the other places. Of course there were negatives; the hot water was erratic though they really tried to keep piling wood in the geyser constantly. To get to the resort you need a 4wd which the resort provides for you to get there & the return (at no extra charge). But, for day trips, they do arrange local jeeps which Qari sahib tries his utmost to negotiate for you. So, that is an added cost. Another option though is that one can walk but you have to cross the shallow end of the river to get to town (no bridge, just erratic stepping stones), not dangerous but your feet will get wet. Our entire family would go back in a heartbeat; we miss Sharda & the people at Wadi Resort, the food, weather etc & this time spend at least a couple of weeks in shaa Allah. Thank you Wadi Resort for the wonderful memories. I do hope we bond again over our Turkish coffee, Saudi Ghava & Colombian coffee (all mine, gave them all a taste of different coffees & we all enjoyed them, every afternoon) real soon in shaa Allah. Till then, cheers & all the best..always!

This was recommended to us by some local as a good place to stay with decent price. This is a small budget hotel located close to market. The rooms were clean and spacious. As our room was facing the main road, it can get a bit noisy. Our room was on first floor and didnt had any signals for wifi in the room. That was the only downside, otherwise was very satisfied with the offering for the price we paid.

We were greeted by the owner very nicely. He showed us two rooms, both were very big, but we picked the one near the lobby. It was very well kept and the bathroom was very clean and spacious- there was also hot water running. The extra beds are free and very comfortable.id recommend this place to fellow travellers.

A quaint hotel amongst breathtaking views along the "Line of Control", just the river divides this area from the Indian Kashmir. Spent a couple of comfortable nights here with OK catering. Very limited WiFi connection and no telephonic service worth using. Beautiful flower decked gardens. Limited hit water in the mornings. But, if you can accept this, you'll enjoy your stay here!
