Given its privileged location and elegant surroundings, the most popular attractions in the city are all nearby. The hotel is housed in an iconic building built at the end of the 17th century. Enjoy your stay in one of its comfortable and spacious superior rooms. It provides a restaurant within the building itself offering a range of dining options which will surprise you. Discover a selection of international haute cuisine specialities in addition to traditional Asturian cuisine.
This was our first break, due to Covid, in fourteen months and despite looking forward to it we were left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed by the experience. The positives are that the location cannot be beaten in Aviles, it is right in the centre, the breakfast buffet was extensive and the old part of the hotel is charming. Quite a few other reviewers have commented that this does not deserve to be rated as a 5* hotel and I can't disagree with that. In my opinion it is a 4* at best. I've stayed in a number of 5* hotels and this one doesn't come near what I would expect in either facilities or, more importantly, staff attitude. The greeting we received upon arrival was less than warm and it took 15 minutes for us to be checked in. Despite being Spanish residents the receptionist made a total hash of our details and originally marked us down as French and repeatedly got our address wrong. It later transpired that she was a new member of staff undergoing training. I don't have a problem with this because we all have to learn but she shouldn't have been left unsupervised and standing in the lobby for quarter of an hour while someone mashes keys is not a good way to start a break. The room was fine but the facilities in the room left a lot to be desired from a hotel with a 5* rating. The tea and coffee making equipment was a joke with a generic travel kettle, four tea bags, some sugar that had gone hard and no milk. Like other reviewers have mentioned, we had to go out and buy tea bags and a litre of milk. The bathroom was a standard NH design, which is to say, large clean and functional. Sadly, the towels seem to have seen better days and were more appropriate to a youth hostel than a top rated hotel. The complimentary toiletries consisted of own brand soap, shower gel and shampoo. Covid precautions had closed a number of facilities in the hotel including the restaurant and the gym but we were told about this in advance and it was not a problem. In fact, the levels of hygiene and precautions against infection seemed to be fine. This included the breakfast buffet which was done very well. There was a large selection of food at the buffet and the head waitress (who was the nicest member of staff we encountered) was happy to fry up some bacon and eggs for me and clearly had everything under control and running smoothly. Sadly, not all members of staff we encountered were as positive and friendly as the head waitress. A large part of what makes a 5* experience is the way the guest is made to feel. Unfortunately we were made to feel as a necessary inconvenience. Quite a number of staff who we passed in the corridors couldn't even be bothered to say a simple ‘good morning’. Does this make you feel like a valued guest? No it does not. This indicates a lack of training in customer care and is not something I have encountered in a NH hotel before. For example the NH in Leon, which is a 4*, has a totally different attitude from its staff and every member of staff we met there was positive and engaging and made you feel welcome and valued. One final thing that rankled a little was that the hotel had a very small number of guests staying that weekend, less than 20 rooms were occupied, or so I was told. This would have been an ideal opportunity for the hotel to upgrade their guests to rooms of superior quality to generate a bit of goodwill. It costs the same to clean a superior room as it does a standard so why not give people who are supporting your business in these difficult times a bit of added value? Years ago, the Hilton Tower Bridge upgraded me to Business Class and I liked it so much that whenever I go to a Hilton now I always go for the Business Class. So that simple act by the Hilton has generated them thousands of pounds of extra income over the years. Would it have been so hard for the guests this weekend to have been upgraded? Don't get me wrong, I got what I paid for but it would have been nice to have been offered the opportunity. In conclusion, I have stayed in NH hotels around the world and this is the first time that I have been disappointed so it won't stop me using the group in the future. However, if you have got to the end of this review (well done!) you should now be aware that, if you book this hotel, you will get a perfectly adequate stay but you need to be aware that you will not get 5* treatment or facilities and certainly don't expect to get cosseted by the staff. In other words, don't go there with high expectations.

Stayed for 3 nights the hotel is away from anything no shops or restaurants nearby. There is a couple of restaurants but it’s a good walk and fairly bad road to walk at night as there is no footpath. It’s at the top of a hill so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. Staff all seem ok no one really goes out the way to speak but there not rude they answered questions when asked just don’t get that friendly feeling from them. The food in the restaurant isn’t the best it was usually cold or warm at best. We had a set menu and on the first night it stated desserts but all they provided was a fruit bowl and yogurt. After a few guests complained they brought out some cakes but they were all frozen. Wasn’t impressed with the food at all. The room was ok, beds were made each day but things like soap, tissues, etc were not replenished. No waste bin in the room so we had to use a plastic bag and again it was never removed from the room so the rubbish was there for the whole stay.

Great location of this modern hotel. On arrival we were desperate for a cup of tea, reception staff happy for us to help ourselves in the restaurant which at the time was closed for service. A modern new build fairly compact bedroom/bathroom, very clean. Breakfast was ok. Lots of travelling workers are obviously based at the hotel and breakfast was more to their liking than ours. We asked for tea and to obtain a teapot seemed a bit of a mission, when you like a few cups in the morning a tea pot is preferable.

I feel a bit conflicted about this hotel and want to give it a fair review. I arrived fresh from a 25 km walk on the Camino de Santiago in pouring rain and was absolutely drenched and pretty tired as well. Although I was the only person checking in when I arrived it took at least 15 minutes. The staff person wanted to be very helpful but unfortunately she was too helpful and to too many people. Firstly, she had a long telephone conversation with a guest about what food they could get, then she entered my details and insisted on showing me two rooms to choose from, then she had a conversation with a new arrival who was asking about a room and then she wanted to show me another room even though I had said that I was happy with what she had already shown me. It was painful as I stood there in an ever expanding puddle wanting nothing more than to get into a room and dry off. The hotel is much nicer inside than it appears from the outside. My room looked new or at least newly renovated with stone external walls and wooden floor and ceiling. Natural light came from a skylight. A window would have been nicer but I was happy to accept the room to get on with drying off. It had a double bed, small desk and chair and a closet. It was a bit cramped but fine for one night. The bathroom was small but had a surprisingly spacious shower. The wifi signal was very good. I had to ask for the control for the a/c unit which was kept at the reception desk but once that was in hand the unit worked well. There were only 2 rooms on my section of the top floor and I think that the other was empty. It was very quiet even though I was at the front of the building. The bar opened at 7.30am which is perfect for peregrinos who like to be up and out early to get on with the day’s walk. The Don Pedro is a nice hotel and was fine for a one night stay once I actually got checked in. I would return but perhaps not if I was eager to get to my room in a hurry.

Staff were very friendly and helpful on email before arriving at the apartment. The self check-in was easy and very practical. The location is superb - close to restaurants and the town centre. But... The apartment (01) was extremely lacking in basic stuff. The kitchen was not "fully-equipped". There weren't any cups!! There was no drying cloth for washing up. There wasn't any draining board. The kitchen was very poor indeed. The wardrobe didn't have any coat hangers. The bathroom was a "wet room" but the water did not drain because of the poor design of the floor. Everything remained wet for several days and it was dangerously slippery. There wasn't even any hooks to hang towels. I cannot ever recommend apartment 01 because it doesn't even offer the basic facilities. It's very disappointing because Aviles deserves to be visited but locations like Suite 1907 must liaise with the Asturias tourist team so that they learn how to understand the needs of the guest. The apartment room seemed to be designed and set up by someone without any idea of what a tourist actually wants.

Stayed for 1 night during my Camino Norte hike. Spacious rooms, bathrooms with hairdryer, and I even had a small balcony overlooking the Niemeyer culture center. 2 min by foot to the main square. Reception closes at 9pm but they seem to have a call option 24/7. Overall an enjoyable stay

Very clean and spacious room. Beds are very important for us and they are absolutely comfy and good shower too. It's just a 2 minute to the Plaza Mayor and 10 minutes walk to train/bus station. We can't comment on the breakfast because we opted to go out instead and try the nearby cafes.

We found there were very few places in this area. We were not wanting to stay in Avilés itself and this was in a perfect place. I have seen similar motels in Asia. The room we had was very large and modern but I was surprised by the lack of power sockets. In particular there were none by the desk. The bathroom was also of very good size. The idea is you arrive by car and access your room via individual garages. There are no real public areas. As all the rooms are on ground level they are quiet. The idea is to be very discreet. You don't even need to see the staff. An intercom at the gate is how you get access: the staff open the garage remotely and once in you close it. No keys. When in the room there is a basic 24 hour room service. Food, including breakfastand any drinks you want, is delivered through a rotating hatch. If you go there to meet someone and don't want anyone else to know about it, this is the perfect place. We nevertheless saw the staff and they were friendly and helpful. It is good value, but does not offer many facilities. For the foreign visitor, there are only Spanish channels on the TV. The Internet is totally unsecured, which is a concern.

The room was hot, uncomfortable and smelled mouldy, when we turned on the air conditioner it leaked a lot, flooding the room. All the receptionist could offer us was a bucket to hold the leaked water. The prospect was to either sleep in a hot room or with the sound of intense dripping, plus the heavy traffic noise outside. No similar room on offer, no other solution or discount, and the staff was unfriendly throughout. We left and got a refund. It could have been avoided if the staff was more flexible and friendly. We found ourselves a room on Motel Cancun that same night, which was fantastic and saved the day.
