We offer well-appointed, self-catering cottages in the wonderous gateway to Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park. Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and transport yourself into a breathtaking landscape where time appears to have stood still. Chillagoe Cabins are based on the design of old miners’ huts and you'll feel as if you have drifted back in time - there is even an array of historical memorabilia in each cabin to complement the old-fashioned exterior. However, this is where the kinship with the past ends - each cabin is decked out with comfortable beds and luxury linen that lures you even during the daytime, fully equipped bathrooms, kitchen facilities, and digital television. If self-catering is off your bucket list, then join other dinner guests for some real sumptuous home-cooked Aussie Tucker, and don't fret over breakfast either, because that is all part of the package too, with a great continental breakfast poolside every morning that will set you up for the whole day. For those who wish to self-cater, a barbeque near the pool offers another opportunity to engage with the surrounding tropical gardens. Chillagoe is located on the Tableland 2.5 hours west of Cairns and is accessible by normal vehicles while there is the weekly Savannahlander Train just down the road. Chillagoe is a world re-known tourist destination for its above-ground limestone caves formed from the great Coral Reef some 400 million years ago. There are between 600 and 1000 caves located in the area of the Chillagoe – Mungana National Park. The Heritage Listed Refinery / Smelter once produced lead, silver, copper, and gold for the economy. There are many ruins around the town to be researched and investigated as well as native trees for visitors to wander about and they provide a habitat for an abundance of wildlife or take a personally catered tour, where you can explore some of the most interesting sites in Chillagoe.
We stayed 2 nights at this establishment. We were welcomed by Wendy and Colin followed by a site tour by Colin. The extensive array of equipment in the camp kitchen was clean and ready for use. Colin even came over when we were preparing our dinner to ensure we had everything we needed. Our breakfast was included in the nightly Tarif and we were very satisfied with the range variety of food offered.. host Wendy was on hand to serve us and was a knowledge bank of attractions. We recommend this place for a stopover.

Although the Jackaroo is the typical country style the owners have made a great effort with updating this motel. Everything was clean and comfortable. I loved the outside areas with tables on the back patio and under the trees. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a little way out of the main town area but an easy walk to the Coffee Works.

Regrettably we only booked one night on our return trip from the Lava Tubes to Cairns as the Lodge was an excellent accommodation choice. Reception was extremely friendly and dispensed all important information very efficiently. Luckily we enquired about dining in the restaurant and secured the last table. The accommodation was excellent. The room was large, well furnished , complete with a comfortable lounge. The bed was excellent. The outdoor seating area was an unexpected bonus as it overlooked the extensive well manicured grounds. It was a great spot to enjoy a pre dinner drink. The pool looked inviting, maybe next time. The continental breakfast served in the dining room was very relaxed and civilised. We were luck enough to meet one of the delightful owners Will definitely stop again and longer next time we are in the area. The restaurant review is done separately

Resort style accommodation offering a choice of motel style rooms or self contained cabins. On site licensed restaurant and bar. Ideal choice for either short or long term stays. Ideally located on the highway just south of Mareeba on the way to Atherton on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland.
The room was adequate for the three of us. Lots of trucks etc there. I gather it is used by workers but they did not influence us. On street parallel to highway but we got no traffic noise at the back. Staff very friendly

Atherton Blue Gum B&B is a home-away-from home, a great place to base yourself. Wake to a chorus of native bird life and enjoy breakfast served on the upper deck. The views are magnificent, looking down on Atherton township which is nestled in an emerald valley. The mist enshrouded mountains, with tropical sunlight glistening on their exposed peaks in the morning, is a delight to behold.
Pleasant - nice and quiet - our first b&b experience. Booking was nice and easy - all instructions were nice and clear. We were lucky and had some nice guests who were nice and quiet as their room was beside us and shared a common area. This made our first b&b experience pleasant.

Could not speak higher of Sonia who went above and beyond to make my stay feel safe and homely. On the Wallaby feels more like a home than a hostel. One of the coolest hostels on the east coast. It’s also super forward thinking in terms of sustainability which is rare to find in accommodation. 10/10

Winner of numerous awards and offering the ultimate in eco-responsible boutique luxury, "The Canopy" is one of Australia's most unique accommodation and wildlife experiences. Located on the banks of the Ithaca River and surrounded by pristine, private rainforest, it is home to a stunning array of rare and exotic wildlife, including the iconic Southern Cassowary and the unique Lumholtz's Tree Kangaroo. Note: formerly called Fur 'n' Feathers Rainforest Treehouses.
Awesome place if you love nature. As a bird photographer, it was fantastic to see King Parrots, Riflebirds, Catbirds and Pacific Doves feeding in your balcony. Also there are plenty of brush turkeys to keep you amused. The 2 local Cassowies, also come walking underneath your treehouse as well. Feeding the abundant turtles in the near by river was also fun. In the evening the friendly possums and aloof pademelons come out to play. You may also get the odd frog which reside outside and inside the treehouse as well. We didnt spot any tree kangaroos, but they reside there too. The bed were very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. And has the basics coffee, tea, sugar, pepper and salt and oil. The washer and dryer with washing powder, was also OK. We didnt use the fireplace, but instead used the reverse AC. The only thing - even though office was meant to be open 9-5pm. Dont expect anyone there all the time. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves nature and doesnt want mobile or phone receiption.
