Located in Arouca, Quinta de Anterronde - opened in August 2014 - locate in an typicaL rurset in a farm with kiwis and blueberries. Installed at a site dating back to the fifteenth century, the main building of Quinta de Anterronde is considered a point of historical interest in the region, being a family home of wealthy farmer. This is a very special place, a farm renovated with lots of charm. Local fruit production, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and very good breakfast. Beautiful views and very quiet. We travelled with 2 kids, very welcomed. Don’t hesitate to stay there when visiting Arouca.

The hotel is nice however it needs to be renovated. The rooms smell old and dusty. The hosts were not very nice and every time we asked for something, it seemed as if they were doing us a favor. Breakfast was medium. Fruit and home made cakes were good but the same all days. We went to the supermarket to buy for breakfast: granola, honey, a good strawberry jam and chocolate for the milk. They offer Nutella. Swimming pool was pleasant yet small and they don't provide towels. Overall it was a pleasant but I would not stay here again. There are plenty of other places around.

O quarto fica no andar superior da casa dos donos do alojamento. Bastante moderno, com uma casa de banho igualmente boa. Os donos foram muito simpaticos. O pequeno almoço foi na pizzaria dos donos situada no centro de Arouca.

We found this hotel to be clean, warm, friendly, and comfortable. We arrived late one night with no reservations after our booked accommodations failed to answer calls, texts, and knocking. We were very glad for this place and for how nice it was. For 60 euros, we had a good place to stay, breakfast for two, and free parking.

One of the flagship homes of parish Alvarenga, inserted in Arouca Geopark, Casa do Passadico has the perfect combination of refinement in interior decoration with the excellence of its facilities. With 11 bedrooms, one prepared for tourists with special needs, is committed to assert itself as a tourist destination in a rural region with great gastronomy and outstanding outdoor activities.
We (3 couples) stayed here to be near the Passadicos do Paiva (8km). The accommodations in the Casa were lovely, as is the town, Alvarenga. The house is beautifully decorated with comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces to sit. While there is no breakfast, the Cafe Brasileira around the corner, provided everything including sandwiches, breakfast, ice cream, wine and beer - all at inexpensive prices. The Casa itself is an old stone structure. The Town is just charming, worth staying in. I would recommend staying here to anyone. While no English was spoken, it was not a problem. We had stopped at the tourist office in Arouca, on our way in, and this is a good stop to get information on the area. We also had a good steak dinner at the restaurant on the right as you leave the "downtown". The only downside is that it was a little hard to find.

Casa da Eira, one of the country houses of Vila Guiomar lies in Alvarenga, 20Km of Arouca and just at one hour of Porto. For those who enjoy the contryside, Casa da Eira offers attractive gardens, a small wood, beautiful ponds with spring water, a tennis court and a warm "contry house" atmosphere. It offers seven modern bedrooms with private bathroom, central heating, a sitting room with fire place, TV, and displaying a superb view over the whole valley. It offers also a pleasant, beautifully furnished dining-room. Casa da Eira is ideally situated for exploring Arouca Geoparque, its beautiful paths (to explore on foot or by car), its geological and archaelogical sites. The river Paiva, which runs in the valley, invites to swim, to fishing and to rafting. Casa da Eira is open all the year round. A frienddly, personal bed end breakfast service for all guests. Restaurants and cafes lie within walking distance
This incredible villa is one of the most amazing places I have stayed anywhere. It is a large estate with ponds to swim in, grape Vines growing all around, and a gorgeous view of the town and valley below. The woman who was managing the property is one of the kindest and most patient people I have ever interacted with. I know basically zero Portuguese, and she knows very little English, but she would repeat herself as many times as necessary until I understood the gist of what she was saying. Using Google translate we were able to communicate the necessities, and she was very attentive to all of our needs. I would happily return here in a second. Also the place is very close to the trailhead for the ponte 516 de Arouca and depending on which way you go, the distance would be walkable (you will need to drive if you plan on doing the walkway). One thing to note, the town is full of roosters and you will hear them loud and clear in the morning no matter where you are.

Wow …. This is a pice of heaven ! The experience is amazing and no doubt would repeat it again and again. We went for a two nights weekend ( minimum number of nights that you can book ) with our children and also with another couple of friends First let’s talk about the staff : Mr Antonio ( or Toni ) is incredible guy , polite , available , kind with children and with a touch for humor that is very well timed. Always aware of details and with an amazing know-how of all the farm animals. A true teacher for kids and for adults also. Also the remain staff , like Toni wife , father and others are so polite and available. 5star in this department. The house itself is fantastic , very well decorated and very well equipped with the best appliances and amenities. Breakfast is fantastic with everyday fresh baked bread and all the goodies. We can see the very good taste of the owner when it comes to decoration. 5 star also. The farm is like a mini zoo with a huge variety of animals and animal experiences that will leave the kids and adults happy and it is a joy to see children wanting to wake up earlier so they can ride the horse , see animals being born … yes we can see also that …. So is really and amazing experience. 5 stars …. Ok… 10 stars for that. It is well worth the cost and for me is a must visit place again and again. Believe me … kids will make a scene when it is time to go away , so be prepared with the best portfolio of excuses we can trough at them … Amazing , fantastic.
