We stayed for two nights in this charming palais and was greeted with a warm welcome by a very friendly lady, the manager. The room was spacious, so was the bathroom. Beds was a little bit hard but otherwise OK. Nice breakfast served in the morning. The hotel has also a cafe that is open during daytime, and a restaurant with a limited menu in the evening. Nice outdoor seating in the garden behind.

Our house - with one of the longest and richest traditions in the city of Ansbach - is located directly at the edge of the town when travelling from the direction of Nuremberg (B 14). Our history dates back until 1735 and is being managed since 1914 from the Sturm family. In the year 2014, we have been awarded the three-star-Superior classification. Our restaurant is arranged in a typical franconian style and spreads a cosy atmosphere. As best-qualified professionals, we personally care for your comfort and service in a familiar style. Our cuisine offers mainly regional dishes in a rich variety, enriched with regional seasonal specialties for everyone's taste. Of course, our chef de cuisine loves to take care of your special wishes. After extensive expansion work, you can now choose from 44 comfortable rooms and suites for every demand. Relax in our new wellness area with three different saunas, lounge and grotto.
I have stayed here a couple of times now, both at the last minute as overnight stays while passing through. Easy parking outside he hotel, check in is a breeze they do not ask for anything in advance, just give you the key! The rooms are of a good size and clean, nothing else needed for one overnight! The restaurant is German and again relaxed and comfortable with a good selection of 'Franken' wines. I'll use the hotel again in the future.

Great location, especially if you are attending an event at the Orangerie or in the center. Comfy rooms, no frills. All you need. Super acceptable prices including breakfast. Friendly personnel. Only thing to improve: more toiletries in the room.

On the positive side the management was very nice and friendly and after we checked out kindly hung a pair of pyjamas we’d forgotten on our car, to find when we came back from wandering the town. We were also given free parking in one of the hotel’s spots at the front of the building. The room with breakfast was €110. The breakfast buffet wasn’t bad but we weren’t offered a boiled or fried egg as often happens in Germany and Austria. The hotel, while perfectly adequate, was a bit dull - rather like Ansbach itself, some might say. Like many hotels in Germany, while the building is old, any antique charm the interior once may have had has been obliterated by renovating zeal. There are lots of tiles everywhere. Our room and the breakfast room were pretty charmless, although clean and functional. (Mind you, not having bedside lights was a pain - while our room including the bathroom was functional overall, the double bed had no side tables.) Most seriously, the hotel is quite close to a railway line and noisy trains thundered nearby regularly throughout the night. We specifically asked about noise and were not only told there was no issue but strangely were given a room closest to the railway track. There are rooms that would be quieter (oddly they appeared to be empty, but we were not offered them). Therefore, when booking, make certain you stipulate a room at the back at the opposite end of the building to the railway track.

The hotel is ideally situated for concerts in St. Gumbertus. I was very disappointed to be given the left-over coffee from the next (recently-vacated) table. At breakfast, you expect fresh coffee. The meal I had in the restaurant was good: seasonal mushrooms in a risotto.

Basic hotel including the breakfast. Room was clean and shower was hot. No real parking and had to park on the street. A very small courtyard holding maybe 8 cars. Breakfast was continental and acceptable. The town was generally quite in the evenings midweek. Found a very reasonably priced restaurant with good homemade food.

The Platengarten Hotel is a favorite hotel full of charm, with a lovelyatmosphere and centrally located, right close to Ansbach Castle. The rooms are lovingly arranged, stylishly furnished, includingoccasional pieces of antique furniture. In March, 2020 my wife and I spent one night at the Hotel Platengarten in Ansbach and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is an easy walk from the Ansbach Hbf and faces the city square. Our clean, well-appointed room was actually a small suite with a foyer, sitting room, bedroom and bath. The bed was very comfortable and the furniture very traditional German. Although our room looked out into the busy city square, our room was quiet. Frau Schafer attended to our every need and laid out a delicious and varied breakfast buffet the next morning. Our only reason for not rating our stay a 5 was that the lighting in the bathroom was a bit lower than our aging eyes need for shaving and applying make-up, but we will definitely return to the Hotel Platengarten if we return to Ansbach. Ansbach is a beautiful Bavarian town, very walkable with many easily accessible restaurants and shops.

This was back then a Best Western Hotel. It's a little hard to find, but your GPS should find it. It's one of those hidden gems for travelers who just want to getaway. It's a superb hotel at reasonable prices. Restaurant is very nice with great food. Great breakfast. I highly recommend this place.

We believe that a hotel should be more than just an impersonal and featureless stopover on the road to somewhere else. Natural materials in our rooms, meals made with fresh ingredients, many of them obtained from local organic farmers, the house surrounded by trees - that's what you will find at Hotel Grünwald - a peaceful place of ease and comfort that appeals to all the senses. Welcome to our "Magic Mountain"!
The hotel is in a very nice location in the wood. The area is very quite, the welcome was very nice, The rooms are very nice and clean, although there is an issue with the toilet bowl is very high. Breakfast was very good, price is quite high.

I arrived late (midnight) and pressed the buzzer, hoping everything would be fine. And it was... I think it was the son of the owner who let me in, checked me in, showed me to my room, offered to carry my luggage and gave me the necessary instructions. Room was spacious, bathroom en suite was super clean and looked recently renovated. Bed was a bit soft (but that tends to be a recurring issue for me in my reviews). Breakfast was good - again fantastic service from the same cool dude as the night before. You simply HAVE to come try this Gasthof..! (PS. I am really looking forward to dinner here tonight; it has that feel of expectation and the genuine effort to make it special for all guests).
