"Aigues-Mortes" translates to "dead waters," but the salt marshes surrounding this medieval city actually have given this town one of its chief industries: sea-salt production. (Bring some home for epicurean friends.) Fortified into a Mediterranean port in the 12th century, Aigues-Mortes’ massive walls survive—walk along them for great views.

Hotel Canal is the hotel of contemporary charm of Aigues-Mortes. This boutique hotel with three stars consists of twenty five air conditioned rooms. Modern, friendly, with a relaxed atmosphere, originally built in the 1950's, Hotel Canal has been lovingly restored with a contemporary feel, for its reopening in 2005. Hotel Canal is located on the banks of the canal, which can be seen from its panoramic terrace and swimming pool.
The hotel is well located, only 7 to 8 minutes walk, along the canal, to the old city walls. It is easy to reach by car and there is plenty of free parking available on hotel grounds. The room is rather small but nicely decorated. Both persons at the reception were extremely friendly and helpful and gave us indications not only for the city but also for other interesting places to visit in the region.

Extraordinary location inside the ramparts and facing the Constance tower. The hotel is situated in an 18th Century military building, an ancient garrison with vaults and stone walls which will plunge you into an incredible voyage into history and medieval times. The hotel has 14 rooms with sublime views over the ramparts or the Constance tower. Discover our LOUNGE BAR and enjoy the panoramic view of the ramparts and the Constance tower. Although situated inside the ramparts and at the heart of the fortified city of Aigues Mortes, you will be surprised by the quietude and charm of our terrace. Cécile, Stéphane and their children welcome you to AIGUES MORTES
Great location right inside the walls of the old town. Lovely property, with a pleasant bar/restaurant/lobby area. Room was spacious, and very stylish and comfortable. Very nice service. It's a nice place but they were great about us having a 1 year old. High chair available. Very good breakfast. Not a proper restaurant for dinner, but they serve food in the lobby including some stuff from other local restaurants. Only issue is that the music in the lobby/lounge was super loud all the time - wasn't so pleasant, especially as it was pretty quiet being low season.

In the heart of the Camargue just 5 minutes from the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes and at the doors of Sainte Marie de la Mer, the4 Vents Hotel has 19 rooms with all the necessary comforts and TV. Secure car park and swimming pool in the summer with a sunny terrace where, if you wish, you can have your breakfast !Near the hotel you can visit the port of Aigues-Mortes, the marshes, the saltworks ... Enjoy the charm of the Mediterranean sea withbeaches just 6 kms away or take a cruise on the canals in the heart of the Petite CamargueSports enthusiasts have the choice of horse riding, canoeing, sea kayaking or jet skiing, quad or 4x4, in the heart of this mythical region.
This was our 5 day base for exploring The Camargue. A motel rather than hotel, with cars parked right outside all the rooms. Double bed with very comfortable mattress. Loads of wardrobe space though room itself not that big. All have outside table with 2 chairs, some more private than others. Safe in room impossible to use, actually broke a nail trying to open it. Told manager when we first arrived but he didn’t do anything about it. Huge bath, diagonally across the bathroom so bigger than the end wall with good shower over. There was always plenty of hot water. Perfect free wi-fi. Breakfast just an extra €9 each, good choice of hot and cold with decent coffee (on last day they gave us free coffee!) with tables inside and out. There was a lovely outdoor pool, well looked after with comfy loungers and noodles! Always nearly deserted and we enjoyed the last hour or so of the sun each day. Only slight downsides were that it does need mosquito mesh on the windows otherwise you can’t leave them open. Would be hell in high summer. You’d either fry or be bitten! Only 2 sockets in room but we coped. Secure electric gates at night a plus. It’s on a roundabout so we were worried about noise but no problem at all. 20 mins walk, 5 mins drive to town, if you can find somewhere to park! All the staff we met were very helpful. For €67 per night this was a real bargain.

A lovely medieval walled city which was nice even in the rain! The hotel was elegant and stylish and the room was well appointed. Breakfast was pleasant. Our room overlooked the rear courtyard and was lovey and quiet. However perhaps it was because it was February, but even though there were clearly over 8 of the 22 rooms let, the bar was not open. Indeed the young receptionist on duty on the Sunday evening, was relatively unhelpful and her reception was cold. She just sat on her phone unless you forced her to speak ! The older couple at work on the Monday were delightful and friendly.

Large and free parking closed.2km from the remparts of Aigues-Mortes,in the core of Camargue and 6 km from beaches.4 différents types of rooms : from the Classic till Superior with its private terrace.Outside the restaurant or in the sunny vérandas mediterranean flavours go with selected local wines. A bright atmosphere under the sky and colours of South of France.
It's a friendly and casual place, with lots of room between the various buildings, a little like a camp, but very charming and nicely done. Our room was in a building with four units, and the restaurant was a short walk away along paths with flowers and trees. The room itself was nice, with french country decor and all the amenities, including a wonderful outdoor space just outside the door. The food was quite good, and the service was great.

We have spent one night in this hotel and we have been happy of our choice. It is very close to the old town, about 2 minutes driving. The check in was smooth and the room spacious and pretty clean. There was a nice swimming pool we enjoyed very much as the weather those days was particularly hot. We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel but it is very close to a bar and a big supermarket just a few steps on the other side of the road

The hotel is lovely. Very nice staff. Has a decent pool and everything is very well maintained. The rooms are nice enough. The only downside is that the town itself is pretty much dead with nothing much to do.

It is in the heart of the medieval city, that CARRIERE family, professionals since 3 generations, as their collaborators cordially accomodate you in their charming hotel with restaurant at Aigues-Mortes in the Camargue, the pilot city of the departures of the king Louis IX (known as Saint-Louis) for the seventh and eighth crusade (1240 and 1270). Whatever the season, throughout the year, you will be welcome, finding there rooms comfortable, recently renovated, at reasonable prices, a restaurant which proposes many specialities and a personnel cordial and available under the direction of: Corinne et Eric CARRIERE. A situation privileged to discover and appreciate inside the ramparts, to 30 meters of Saint-Louis Place, while strolling in the picturesque lanes the shops with the Mediterranean scents, within a privileged framework. A hotel very of charm, the comfort of our rooms, a kitchen of savours, the beauty of the environment, the discovery of an area rich in activities, arts and monuments as well as a family atmosphere are, for all the in love ones with the old stones the insurance of a fabulous stay.
The Carrière family -- wife, husband, and son -- could not have made me more welcome in their B&B. My French is limited, and Madame Carrière -- who greeted me -- speaks only limited English (her husband speaks it well), and even so, she made me feel very welcome and effectively communicated everything I needed to know. My room was nothing fancy, but it was serviceable, right in the heart of delightful Aigues-Mortes, and met my needs well.
