This hotel is temporarily closed. -- About the property: Arabesque is a newly restored and renovated Ottoman building in the ancient city of Acre (Akko/Akka) on the northern Mediterranean coast of Israel. Nearly 300 years old but with some stones dating back one thousand years to the Crusader period, Arabesque boasts a Great Hall with a baby grand piano and chef’s kitchen for events; a cozy courtyard with a trickling savil fountain; and three sumptuous suites all with high vaulted ceilings, original stone walls, tile floors, antique furniture, artwork, and all the amenities of a modern hotel room: TV, a/c, comfortable furnishings, a kitchenette. Arabesque is situated in the very middle of the Old City and is only a few minutes’ walk to the suk (market), the Crusader Knights’ Hall, the Templar Tunnel, the Al Jazzar Mosque, the Turkish bathhouse and all the other major tourist attractions. Its central location also means that the experience of a stay at Arabesque is one of being a part of the local community and not apart from it. About us Arabesque is owned by the father-and-son team of Evan Fallenberg (artistic director) and Micha Fallenberg (manager) and staffed by locals. Evan is a novelist, translator and professor of creative writing and literary translation at Bar-Ilan University; Micha is a trained tour guide and adventure sport enthusiast. For them, Arabesque is more than just a charming place to spend a few nights; it is a venue designed to serve the local community through hosting cultural events, promoting local talent, and welcoming artists of all kinds to engage in dialogue through the arts. About the neighborhood Arabesque is located at the very center of the Old City of Acre, one of the oldest inhabited cities on earth and a UNESCO World Heritage Conservation Site. Once the capital of the Crusader kingdom, Acre is today Israel’s second most popular tourist destination, with its colorful market, unique culinary traditions, marina, beaches, museums, festivals, mosques and churches. The annual fringe theater festival is the most important of its kind in the country. The main tourist sites include buildings and ruins from the Hellenistic, Ottoman and Crusader periods, such as Al-Jazzar Mosque, the Order of St. John, the subterranean Crusader city and enchanted garden, the Khan al Omdan and Sultan’s Clock Tower, Hamam Al Basha (Turkish bath-house), the Hospitaller fortress, and the Templars Tunnel. There are unique museums, like the Underground Prisoners Museum, the Okashi Museum and the “Treasures in the walls” Museum for Ethnography and Folklore of Acre and the Galilee. The city itself is a living museum offering walks that track Crusader, Ottoman, Napoleonic, Jewish or Bahai points of interest, though getting lost in the city’s maze of alleyways is often the greatest treat of all.
My friends and I stayed a weekend before joining a group in Tel Aviv. It was beautiful, an Ottoman period stone structure with unique rooms. The breakfast are included and are very typical of the Mediterranean diet. The General Manager Fabian is very personable and laid back which sets the tone for his staff, without lowering the Hotel's standards. Would return. It's location makes seeing the city very easy.

Akotika Boutique Hotel in Akko – a totally different experience In the heart of the Old City of Akko Akotika Boutique Hotel offers a unique hosting experience. The tastefully designed rooms, the picturesque alleys and the view of the Mediterranean Sea, all enhance the unique experience of luxury and authenticity. Thank you for choosing Akotika in the Old City of Akko. We hope you will enjoy your stay with us. And now, we would like to ask you to forget everything you know about hotels, because Akotika offers a unique hospitality experience which is essentially different to that of other places. We are situated IN the Old City of Akko and while you stay with us you become part of the neighborhood, part of the heart of the Old City. The Reception, Lobby and the Roof-Top-Terrace accessible by 46 stairs only, where breakfast is served daily, are in our main building. Our suites are a short walking distance from one another and from the main building. We tend to say that the Old City of Akko is the hotel and we – Akotika – are the suites. Each of our suites is distinct; please pay attention to the pictures and explanations on your reservation. All the suites have undergone renovation, restoration and fresh interior design, and still most of the suites and the Roof-Top-Terrace are accessible by stairs only. To ensure your comfort, we have furnished all the units with all the modern facilities: air conditioning, ceiling fans, cable tv, hair dryers, coffee corners with electric kettles, Nespresso machines and mini-refrigerators.
We stayed here the one night we were in Akko. The area around the hotel is a little run down but it is a central location. The hotel room was very nice and breakfast was delicious. Be aware that you need to carry your suitcase up a flight of stairs to get to your room - but the payoff is a beautiful view over the water.

The hotel is in a great location in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of all the tourist attractions (the port, the market, the knights' halls, and restaurants). The hotel is built inside the ancient wall and as such is very special. There is considerable investment in preserving the character of the place. The rooms are special though not particularly large. Room maintenance (including the toilets) and cleanliness were just fine. We arrived at a group of ten people and received a really excellent welcome and service (especially Nabil who with an eternal smile answered all our requests). To sum up: Recommended. We'll be back

Nestled in the picturesque narrow lanes of Acre, the Efendi Hotel overlooks the historic city walls and the magnificent Mediterranean Sea beyond. The unique structure of this hotel combines two ancient houses that have hundreds of years of history stored within their walls. These houses were meticulously reconstructed and merged into one building before being converted into a boutique hotel.. Complex preservation and restoration work over a period of eight years gave birth to a gorgeous, breathtaking pearl that was truly a labor of love. Thought was invested in each and every detail of the preservation work, which was performed under the supervision of the Antiquities Authority. Artisans were specially flown in from Italy in order to undertake this delicate work, as well as the restoration of the beautiful ceilings. All rooms in the hotel are furnished and equipped to the highest standards, and each room has its own unique character and style. Some rooms' ceilings feature illustrations, while others are made from preserved wood. Most of the windows offer sea views, while others look out over the ancient city of Acre and the scenic mountains of the Western Galilee.
The Efendi is an elegant property in the heart of Akko’s Old City - carefully chosen decor and spacious, comfortable rooms. Great views of the old city rooftops and the water beyond. The staff is gracious and knowledgeable - I recommend a spa treatment. Breakfast is excellent - lots of freshly made local specialties. In addition to exploring Akko’s Old City and walking by the waterfront, I recommend dinner at Uri Buri, which has the same owner as the Efendi. Please also check out the JNF Tourist Information Center for other fun things to do in the area!

I have to put on the context. We've landed at Ben Gourion International quite late on Saturday evening, and decided to go straight up to Akko...the only solution was the Sherout to Haïfa, and then the train to Akko. We were afraid we wouldnt find it, or it would be too late. First of all, it as really easy to find, from the train station, go to the sea, then walk along the shore toward the old city, and when you arrive to the light house, turn left, you can't miss it. Secondary, Nzar was waiting for us, however he had other plans for the evening, he proposed us some snacks to fuel up after such a trip, and then still found the strenght to show us around ! We've had a great time talking whil smoking a shisha and drinking a tea. Moreover, he seemed more than happy for a second round in the morning ! Thank you Nzar for your perfect hosting, looking forward to come back to your beautiful city ! Marion and Virgile
