A group of islands and islets some 25 miles off the Tanzanian coast, the Zanzibar Archipelago is headlined by Unguja (often referred to simply as Zanzibar) and Pemba. Once a separate nation, Zanzibar has a long history of trade with the Arab world, dating back to at least the 11th century. The capital, Stone Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many interesting historic attractions. Zanzibar's bright white beaches and nearby coral reefs make it very popular with the sun and sea set.

Backpackers, Kitesurfers and barefoot beach-lovers will adore the easy retreat oasis of Demani Lodge. Situated just a kilometre from Paje on the Jambiani Road, Demani's lush garden, swimming pool, free Wifi and only a 5 minute walk to the beach are topped off by flexible accommodation options with singles, doubles, triples, dorm room and nice, big rooms with wooden floor and bathroom en suite. Pick-up's can be arranged for extra cost. We have a BBQ with live music and party with DJ every Thursday, delicious food in the kitchen from 12 pm - 22 pm, and an open bar as long as there is people.
An awesome place to stay. Affordable. Clean. Good food. Very friendly owner gave good advice on places to visit and arranged for taxis. Great swimming pool. Met some lovely travellers there. The closest beach is a long walk away and very dirty. It's worth walking further up to the busier part. Don't even think of swimming at low tide, you'll have to walk more than a km to reach the water.

I have been coming to Zanzibar for over a decade, but never so much to Paje... This time happened to come this side, no regrets whatsoever, if you like music & partying, this is the place to be! It's almost non stop...? Food is quite delicious & the staff always ready to help! The owner has been quite helpful as well! When it comes to the rooms, let the pics speak by it self...? Highly recommended!

Lost & Found Hostel is Zanzibar's first premium hostel. We are located in the center of Stone Town right across from the Shangani Post Office.
My favorite part about this place was - besides the extremely central location - their safes, which had electronic bracelets to open. The dorm was very comfortable and had AC, which isn't that common for Zanzibar especially in hostels. It can be noisy, though, being on the main street, and the common spaces are quite small so it wasn't easy to have space to just chill out or meet anyone. The staff was nice, and it's simple and easy for getting in and around.

A family friendly, lush and green Boutique Hostel in the heart of Stone Town, Zanzibar.
We had a booking at zlife. We tried to check in late at night and they had given away our room despite have a credit card guaranteed booking. They then lied to the booking agent (online platform) that we were a no show so that we had no access to support, refund or rebooking. Finally, they refused to provide us any support in rebooking us a room. Be warned!

Very relaxed place with nicely constructed bungalows spread around a decent sized and impressive garden area immediately behind 2 large beach front resorts. The owner Ali and all staff based there were super friendly and helpful, and the food was of good quality with generous portions. Beach is just 2-3 minutes’ walk away where amazing sunsets can be witnessed, plus walkable for very long stretches all around the peninsula up to the east facing side when there is low tide (serene and peaceful walk). Rooms and food are very reasonably priced for what you get. I would definitely stay here again if I decide to go to Michamvi.

Our hotel is perfect for those looking for a nice relaxing place to stay. Our rooms are very spacious and all have a floor, big 7ft long beds with it's own mosquito net. Our rooms have a shared toilet outside or for extra comfort we have also ensuite rooms. Outside the rooms you have access to your own private terrace with comfy couch. Or come hangout in our garden with hammocks, hanging beds and a lounge area. For your stomach we have a restaurant with Swahili and European dishes and a nice relaxing bar with many cocktails to sample for nice prices. Located near one of the finest beaches of Zanzibar, Paje on the East-coast offers the finest white sand and clear blue ocean water. Situated only 70 meter from the beach, this area is more quiet and private for you to relax or to take a swim then the area with kite surfers and local fishermen a little distance away.
Great place to stay in Paje! Very close to the beach, cool staff, great pool, highly recommended! The Bungalows have AC, own bathroom and it’s a quiet area - except Tuesdays! There is a great big poolparty which is a lot of fun! Don’t miss it! Ellie and her staff are doing a great job!

Shoki Shoki House is a brand new place on the map of Stone Town. The hotel has been fully renovated and opened in September 2021. We are situated in best possible place, in Shangani Street, just 2 minutes by walk from Forodhani Garden and Old Fort. The hotel offers 14 comfortable air conditioned rooms in different standard. Guest can enjoy delicious breakfast served everyday. Karibu Sana !
Overall a really good spot. Good, central location, friendly helpful staff, very clean throughout, and a good breakfast. I loved the local accent décor in particular, coupled with a crisp, fresh interior. Light and bright. Good WiFi too!

lala lodge is a quaint lodge situated in a small old fishing village at the seaport Mkoani in Pemba Zanzibar.
We were warmly welcomed and greeted by Dennis who makes you feel as if you’re entering his home, rather than an impersonal guesthouse. The rooms are quite basic, but clean, we had minor issues, which were resolved. There is hot water and air-conditioner - all very fair considering 45$ a night. In other places we paid 35$ for rooms with terrible mattresses, no electricity and sparse running water. The meals are home-style and cooked by Dennis himself. Friendly ambiance and conveniently located. Would recommend.

The Mnana is a small, cozy and unpretentious lodge, but to make life better for our guests. Can accommodate 16 people in five rooms with private bathroom and balcony and in an open space above the restaurant. The guest house is situated in Kizimkazi countryside, not far from the sea. We serve Multi cuisine food and snack, relaxing garden, private beach, free WiFi in room & common area.
Purposely spent 2 nights in new year's eve in the less-crowded southern Zanzibar after Kili and Safari, a pleasant and cosy stay to re-energize ourselves, do nothing just relax enjoy beer and music at the seaside. Feel homey in Mnana Lodge, the host is an italian woman, great food too. Very primitive and nature life here, btw the tazanian countdown party was memorable. Hakuna mata!
