Surrounded by coconut palms and mango trees you will find on one of Palominos quiet streets the hostel – La Casa del Pavo Real. With it’s handpainted tiling and romantic balconies, the hostel looks like a villa from the old world. The big garden with swimming pool and the main area with it’s mixed design between romantic and modern invite you to linger around and relax.
Best place in Palomino! The kitchen and breakfast is outstanding and underrated on tripadvisor. Best breakfast in palomino and top 3 dinner in palomino restaurant at least. Loved the food! The staff and the service was perfect. They were really helpful, friendly and they are loving their job. Always smiling. Special Shout-out for Jesus: He is a kindhearted person and understands service. It was my birthday and the hostel suprised me with a cocktail on the house and nice music :) Also the pool and the outside area is stunning, we really enjoyed to hang out here for 5 nights. It is a quiet and chilled place! U have to do the dogshelter activity, they do a hike with you to a viewpoint with the dogs. A unique experience.

Located a few steps away from the beach, close to the main road to reach the sea from Palomino village, PrimaLuna Beach Hostel offers 7 comfortable en-suite bedrooms and 3 dorms (each one with its own bathroom as well). Services: swimming pool, a restaurant/pizzeria with wooden oven, a shared kitchen, WiFi, garden with palm trees and tropical plants, laundry service.
Hotel is nice and clean, rooms are basic (a bit dark). The restaurant was disappointing. The staff seems fed up with tourists, absolutely no flexibility, service is slow, mistakes in orders. Breakfast is not good and no choice. The management seems missing here.

Kawabonga Hostel is located very close to the beach, 6 minutes walk. It’s a place to relax and chill. All the private rooms and mixed dorms are equipped with mosquito nets, fans, blankets and towels. We have a guest kitchen that you can use except for breakfast. The hostel has laundry service, wifi, parking area, chilling hammocks, bar and pool.
On the face of things, it looks like a lovely hostel with a lovely pool and in a great location. We got there and checked in. We got beers which were the coldest I’ve had in a long time and we thought we had made a solid decision. Then it all started to unravel. Where do I start? (Other than the bad food). - staff completely failed to deal with a clearly drunk guest who hassled and abused us to the point of near conflict - too few toilets between way too many rooms. If you were inside then you had two toilets which seemed to be kind of looked after. The one toilet for the outer rooms was rarely cleaned, constantly smelled like urine, and not refilled with toilet paper nearly enough (once going a full day without being refilled). The floor also flooded at one point. Just extremely dirty. - the music. Oh my dear lord, the music. Every morning the bar staff would just play this absolutely ridiculous weird “chill” music that sounded like it was from a video game - on repeat for hours!!!! Every day!! Then come 11am or 12 - then on came the heavy techno!?!? Now don’t get me wrong, I’m partial to a bit of electronic music, but this is meant to be a chilled surfer vibe hostel. It was unsettling at best. And considering there were families with children staying, this was another example of just absolutely poor management. Not relaxing at all. - probably the worst bit. The room below us was cleaned one day and the cleaners left the whole bunch of spare keys in the door and left the door ajar. Already annoyed at the incompetence of the staff at this point, we decided to leave them just to see how long they would remain there. Well, they were there the next day. Anyone could have taken them and used them to gain entry to any of the rooms - EXTREME SECURITY ISSUE. (Have picture/video proof of this) - staff generally didn’t seem to care about much about anything and spent most of their waking time sat on their phones. For example, cat sh*t just sat by the pool for two days as nobody bothered to clean it up. This place has so much potential to be a really fantastic hostel, but poor management and staff really lets it down. I also question the positive reviews on this, they seem a bit fishy.

This is review is only for the Temazcal experience. The experience was amazing! Elena, who works at the hotel and leads the ceremony, is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended! Also, Elena also gave us the best recommendations on what to do in the area, so definitely speak to her, you wont regret it!

Relax and enjoy the nature seeing the ice peaks from the Caribbean Coast in Colombia right in between two rivers. An amazing swimming pool, gourmet restaurant, great drinks, nightly activities, and private access to the beach, all surrounded by beautiful gardens and the tranquility of Palomino... Live the dream! The town of Palomino was developed on sacred territory by several indigenous ethnic groups and is surrounded by a unique natural ecological system, one of the most spectacular nature reserves on Earth: the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Its snowy peak is clearly visible in the morning from the reception and is the highest coastal mountain range in the world with almost 6,000 meter peaks only 40 km from the Caribbean Coast! We invite you to preserve and help us take care of this nature and at the same time enjoy it. You can tube down the Palomino river or bathe in the cool waters of the river or walk to the other river, San Salvador. We look forward to seeing you soon!
We had an amazing time in Dreamer, we highly recommend it. Staff was amazing, particularly Juan David who made our stay great fun. The location is great, the beaches are a paradisiac dream. We recommend the visit to Quebrada valencia and the lobster at the restaurant.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at on my trip through Latin America so far. The facilities are clean and pretty. The communal area is relaxed and easy to make contact with other travelers. If you want to have some time for yourself there’s silent areas and lounges. And last but not least the owners are amazing. Not only as nice as they come but she also fixed my pants for free when I tried to ask where to repair them in town. Would recommend if you’re looking for a laid back hostel owned by locals.

The property is lovely and the staff too. Great location only a few minutes from the beach. Breakfast great too. Only issue for us was the room had a fan and no air conditioning. We thought this would be sufficient but it was not - the room was far too hot for us. They also booked a tour for us to the flamingos and there was no English speaking guide so my mum had a 4 hour tour in silence - lapse of communication between us and the hostel. Either way, lovely hostel!

Beautifully built and well arranged tranquil place with lots of plants and birds in the backyard. The accommodation is quite close to river Palomino and a bit further away from the noisy main street of Palomino, as well as the crowded beach which gives it a peaceful location for a good rest and relaxation. There are some nice hiking trails nearby. We tried the tasty complete Colombian breakfast with great arepas and fresh juice. Alisonn was really helpful with information regarding the area, as well as arranging our transfer from Santa Marta Airport to Palomino. The only thing we would change would be the mattress as we found this one a bit too soft for our taste but other than that everything is perfect! We really loved staying here and would definitely come back if the opportunity appears!

I highly recommend this hostel. first because the price is convenient. Secondly, the staff is amazing! They made me feel like home. The rooftop is always available to hangout and work at any given time. I could go on and on about the staff and the accommodation of natura. I really loved it here.
