Totally opposite to what I thought it was going to be. Very professional staff and clean with all facilities. Best night sleep for two nights even though I was in a 10 bed dorm. The only fault I can say is there were no chairs in dorm and because I was on second bunk it made it a bit hard to put shoes on. Besides that 10/10.

Honestly, one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The people who run this establishment are brilliant. Their happiness and their hospitality is infectious. Beautiful rooms, excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities. But…the friendliness is what I will tell my friends about. I can’t wait to be back there in two weeks. Thank you! Xx

Clean room, poor value

Reviewed By TristanC492

I stayed in one of the private rooms with a bathroom. Staff and cleanliness were 5/5. Minus one star because it is work about $80 but cost >$150. Minus another star because for >$150/night you shouldn't have to supply your own soap and shampoo. Room was a little cold (with no temperature control) and noisy also.

I've stay there quite a long time during the 2021 year and I was feeling like I was at home. The number of guest was very low because of the Covid. The staff is nice and the small size of the hotel makes it feels as a second home. I've got good memories from this place

No.14 Lovel St

We are a small friendly quiet hostel located in the beautiful World Heritage listed Blue Mountains, just 2hours from Sydney. The hostel is in an original 100+ year old guesthouse, with modern comforts of central heating, constant hot water in our shared bathroom, and WiFi. We offer simple comfortable rooms, perfectly suited to quiet peace-seeking travellers who want to relax and chill out in close proximity to all that the Blue Mountains has to offer. We have no TVs, radios on purpose; but plenty of books, games, puzzles and comfortable common areas to enjoy conversation with other guests, or relax by yourself. Many of our guests say we are like "a home away from home".

Definitely stay here, it's wonderful! Warm, cosy and welcoming. Easy parking, close enough to town. Absolutely beautiful house with a fantastic innkeeper - Annette is friendly and so knowledgeable about the area. Super clean, and a very comfy bed. The kitchen is well equipped and it's so nice to be able to prepare a meal and sit at the communal table. Mature guests, not a party house. Unbelievable value for money. I'll definitely stay here again.

We have free pancakes every morning, free pasta AND a travel party on Wednesday. Inform at our desk for what else is going on! Apart from that we have a team of travel experts that will make your trip the best one ever! They know everything about travelling through Australia and New Zealand and are happy to help!

1 month stay

I stayed at base for a month! Was the best hostel I stayed in whilst in Sydney! The only annoying thing is that I had to swap rooms at the end of the week and my room card stopped working a few times so had to get it changed but the staff were very helpful and quick fixing my problems! Because I moved room so much I did meet lots of new people which was great as I was travelling solo! The kitchen was the only downside for base! I had lots of food stolen from my bags in the kitchen and it was always messy! Base is very central to everywhere in the city! Highly recommend

Having not been to Byron since 2006, I came for a night with a friend. We didn't want to be spending in to the 100s for a room we would only sleep in. We opted for the Cape Byron YHA. For $70, we got a twin room with a double and a bunk. The room was pretty bare, no TV - But it had a clothes hang/store area / mirror / enough plugs for the 2 of us. The bed was comfy and the covers were clean and warm (you have to strip the bed upon check out). There were 3 or 4 showers in the block on our floor, same for toilets - you needed the swipe card to get in - again clean, warm. The kitchen area was large - this grossed me out a little - but it's been a long time since I backpacked Oz and needed to cook for myself in such. The pans were old and pretty grubby. You had to get your plates etc from reception - but we had ours with us. The tea towels were rank - I wouldn't use. The worst however was a bloke in the kitchen coughing all over the place - not the hostels fault, but nasty nonetheless. Needless to say, we didn't go sit and eat by him - we ate on our balcony which had a table and 2 chairs. During COVID-times and no flights coming in to Oz, this hostel serviced a range of ages - I am 40 and there were people older than me there. I found the hostel more like a motel. Good location and good wifi.
