Our quiet hostel is located on Carrington St. in a well-maintained, quiet building. Here you'll find a variety of comfortable, affordable & friendly accommodation right in the heart of the city. All of Adelaide's city attractions are within a short walk from the hostel & we can help you explore the rest of South Australia and Australia. We are moments from many great restaurants, attractions and special events - everything a traveller wants.
I stayed here for three nights and a very good hostel and the receptionist very friendly and only four beds to a room. The only problem was that the public telephone was not working and I had to borrow a mobile to ring just to get in as reception not manned after 7-00pm. The next night was no problem as I had a code. My things in the fridge were OK also unlike the Sydney hostel which either someone pinched or the cleaners through out!

The mission of Tequila Sunrise Hostel is to give the best impression of Australia to each of our guests. For that reason, we choose our location right in the heart of the Central Business District CBD -just two blocks from Central Market, Hindley St and many museums and tourist attractions. In addition, we prepare every morning a delicious buffet of pancakes, coffee, tea and season fruits. We have a full-equipped kitchen where you can cook, share meals and make friends. We created a nice common room where you can relax, read a good book and have a delicious coffee. Tequila Sunrise Hostel has 18 rooms with 134 beds. Our facilities include a common room, laundry machines, free WIFI in every room, security camera circuit, lockers and helpful reception staff, refrigerator with sodas and beers, city maps, hot water, TV room, and a chill & relax atmosphere. The kitchen is open so you can use it and cook your favorite meal.
This is by far the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in... Where do I begin? The hostel on first appearance is unkempt, unhygienic and overcrowded. The dorm room had clearly not been cleaned properly, there was toe nail clippings on the window seal, dirty tissues under the bed, dust everywhere and just smelt as if there hadn’t been any fresh air circulating for a while. There was a air conditioning unit in the room that could only be operated by reception which meant by nighttime, the room was just being blasted with freezing cold, regurgitated air. (Not pleasant when sharing with three other people in a confined space). The only saving grace was the fact that there was a window by the bed. As for the rest of the facilities, the bathrooms were ok, however could do with a lick of paint and a bit more cleaning. The ‘tv room’ upstairs is fairly undesirable and to be avoided! The whole area just smelt musty/damp/sweaty. Not forgetting, the dirty boxers that seemed to make a permanent residence on the floor or armrest of the sofa. Niceee! The kitchen/common area was equally as filthy and cramped. Very much a party hostel. Found it very strange that we had no communication with any of the hostel staff members, even when checking in/out; this was all done by text message? It seemed as if anyone and everyone could walk into the hostel which is concerning in terms of security. Please avoid!

Located in the West End of the Adelaide CBD, close to all public transport, Entertainment strip, Adelaide hospital, cafe's, restaurants, parklands etc. Adelaide Backpackers on Hindley Street has Motel style rooms, twin rooms, Shared rooms all with your own bathrooms,Dorm style rooms with shared bathroom also available, communal Kitchen, laundry, tour and travel desk.
The lovely lady at reception was extremely helpful and we are very greatful for the service she gave us. She went out of her way to look up public transport time tables for us and even helped us with trying to cancel tours we were not able to do anymore. Very spacious rooms and fresh clean linen. only problem with the room that could make it a bit more cozy would be a small couch or something comfortable to rest and watch the tv on as you do not always want to be in bed to relax. The outdoor area was a lovely area to eat dinner and mingle with other guests with the kitchen on the small side it really was nice to have somewhere to go eat and get out of the way of those cooking. We stayed here last year also and the improvements that have occurred are great. When we come back next time I am sure it will be even better.

A good cheap hostel in a great location. The place good use some maintenance as both the mens and womens bathroom ld had leaky showers that were running nonstops. Otherwise the staff were friendly and the place was safe and secure with a good vibe.

Be smart and don't just got for a hostel with the lowest rate - you get what you pay for! Are you looking for a hostel where you feel welcome to relax and just hang out if you want a break? Where there are activities so you can meet people and make new friends? Where you don't feel as though you are putting your hand in your pocket every 5 minutes? Where the staff are happy to give you free advice about what to do in Adelaide (not just sell you an expensive tour)? Backpack Oz is a family owned and operated business that enjoys a great reputation - and not just because of the free Tuesday night BBQ dinner and daily Happy Hour ($3.50 beers)! All rooms and common areas have A/C, and kitchens and bathrooms are cleaned daily (and we mean really clean - check the ratings)! We have a fantastic city location - walk to cafe/pub districts, Central Market and CBD! Our free WiFi is super fast and we have a light & bright dining & common room with big screen TV. Free pick ups and drop offs to bus and train stations are available (not airport and conditions apply). Our staff are super well trained and really want you to enjoy your stay and make the most of Adelaide! We hope you choose to stay with us and leave with fond memories of both Adelaide and Backpack Oz. Cheers! Sam, Penny & Tom Twelftree *Reception is open from 6.00am till 10.00pm. You must check in prior to 10.00pm or we can not accept your booking.
My first backpack ! Nice place! Big living room and big kitchen. The place is clean and you've got everything around at less than 5 minutes walking. Good vibe and the owner is really cool and always smily ?

Adelaide's only beachside backpackers hostel, housed in a beautiful heritage building with high lofty ceilings, period features and open fireplaces. Female only, mixed dorms and private rooms available, all with linen and light breakfast included. Full facilities including 24hr backpackers TV lounge, kitchen, internet cafe, laundry, licensed bar and beer garden on site. visiting Adelaide... stay at the beach!
Had a very restful two weeks here. Loved the convenience of the tram, shops and supermarkets. And of course Glenelg beach ! Fortunately the noise level from the road, shops across the street or bar downstairs was tolerable and didn’t go on all night. My main concern was security in the kitchen. Guests not staying at the hostel are able to access the kitchen from the bar downstairs. Some guests also left the backdoor to their accommodation ajar.

Adelaide Backpackers Inn is a small and friendly hostel in the heart of Adelaide. The whole building has recently been renovated to provide our guests with a modern and comfortable environment to enjoy your stay in Adelaide. It is brand new and your room is waiting for you. Adelaide Backpackers Inn in Adelaide is the perfect place to relax and to plan your trips to the outback, Kangaroo Island or the many interesting places just outside of Adelaide.
I stayed in this hostel 3 separate times of varying duration and really enjoyed it! The facilities are average but the layout fosters community and the staff is very friendly. Great place to meet people! This ended up being one of my favorite hostels in Australia

Port Adelaide Backpackers is the first and only backpacker hostel in the heart of Historic Port Adelaide. It is surrounded with all the shops, supermarkets, banks, pubs, restaurants you will need. Port Adelaide Backpackers is a family business with fun and friendly atmosphere which offers good, clean quality budget accommodation. We aim to give you great value for money, a top hostel.
Don't bring children here, or sleep in the dorms. It's regular residents are almost all drug addicts, drug dealers, alcoholics and/or former prison inmates. Violence is not uncommon. The kitchen is left as a mess by residents despite being cleaned each day. You'll get sick eating off their utensils. They advertise family rooms, but it's not a family space. They advertise internet, but have none. It's basically a halfway house for former convicts and street people.

Our guest house located right on the beach we provide all the basic necessities our main aim is to fulfill the guest wishes we always friendly and welcoming we want to make feel our guest home away from home. We have very friendly staff .
I stayed at the comfy guest house but didn’t stay the full days I was suppose to. If your indigenous (native) your constantly accused of drugs and alcohol throughout the stay. How can reconciliation happen if your falsely accused of things you don’t do. I felt uncomfortable in my stay and left 3 days early. They said no refunds it’s fine we went somewhere where we treated with respect.

McLaren Vale is a friendly backpacker hostel located in the heart of wine country, surrounded by gentle rolling hills covered in vine yards and dotted with charming cellar doors. Foodies will love the range of exceptional restaurants, while romantics will delight at the picturesque countryside, with winding lanes perfect for a relaxing cycle. Bike hire is highly recommended to explore the region. There are over 50 cellar doors in the region with plenty of opportunities for wine tasting and the opportunity to stock up on a few bottles of Shiraz or Cabernet from local wineries. The hostel is located on the main street of McLaren Vale and is close to supermarkets and transport. This hostel is best suited for travellers considering working in Australia and can provide assistance with getting jobs locally. The accommodation is in mixed multi-share rooms and offers outside entertainment areas to relax and meet fellow travellers.
Would have liked the opportunity to leave a review, however, we didn’t even get a chance to stay. After booking online I received a call to say the room I had booked was actually NOT available. Unfortunately, no genuine apology or attempts made to try and rectify the issue or reasonable explanation other than, “actually the room you booked is not available”. Would not recommend.
