Reasonable rates. Public bath having medicinal benefits like hot spring is available. Located next to JR and Meitetsu Hashima station.
The weekly show is a very quite place . Its close to station so if window open it can be noisy. Theres communal amenities but some rooms have own kitchenette . Rooms are small but its not what you would expect for a hostel . Check in at four pm as desk is only maned 4-8 and not on sundays . I found it comfortable and stayed there for 15 days .its around £15 per night . It does have a lot of contractors stay there so gets busy after work . Theres machines in reception and laundry coin operated .

Hostel is an annex of a temple. The decoration feels makes you feel that you are in a temple. It was an interesting experience to stay there. Overall a good experience and I would recommend it. Positives: -Hostel was clean and very suitable for families. -Fairly well located at about a 20 minutes walk from the train station and 15 minutes fom the main tourist spots. -Good value for money. Negatives: -Staff could be friendlier. -No air conditioning. A fan was provided. Although not an issue for us because the nights we stayed -august- were relatively cool. However I can imagine that it can get quiet hot. Neutral: -Have in mind that there is a 9:45pm curfew, (however it is not such a big deal many tourist attractions close at 5 or 6pm. -Bed provided is a futon.

K’s villa is managed by K’s house. Level 1 being the living room, dining room, kitchen, outdoor small garden, toilet and a bath room. It’s clean and cosy and have everything that a family would need for cleaning n cooking! Washing machine and dryer together with hair dryer and amenities for cleaning and tidying yourself. The living area n dining area are well decorated with the traditional Japanese feel with a blanket heater from the table. Level 2 are the sleeping area where tatamis are set up for 4 of us. It’s good enough for 10 pax (including kids). Heaters are working well and very beautifully done up. There is also a toilet at this level. Totally awesome if you travel in a big group or family.

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful lodge while hiking the Magome to Tsumago portion of the Nakasendo highway walk. The whole place is run by a lovely Japanese couple and they made it feel more like a homestay than a hostel! We booked through Hostelling International. Though it is a far walk from the train or bus, if you email the owner the exact time your bus or train is coming in, he will pick you up-- around a 5-10 minute drive. He also dropped us off at the highway bus after we checked out. They were very kind and made us delicious meals (homestyle: miso soup, rice, fish, etc) at pretty affordable prices. Our stay was around $36 USD per person per night, along with an optional ~$10 for dinner and ~$6 for breakfast. (They also have coffee, tea, Cup Noodles, beer, sake, etc for purchase.) I would highly recommend getting your meals through the hostel if you stay because all restaurants are remote and close really early in this area. This price was for the dorm (4 beds per room), but we were the only ones in our room. The husband speaks conversational English, but can write in email at a high level. The wife speaks much less. They are on the quieter side but are happy to help out. Highly recommended.
