The birthplace of both the king of the Olympian gods and of modern European civilization, Crete is a Mediterranean jewel. It’s rich with archaeological and mythological history that’s reflected in its ancient ruins and cultural attractions. Soak up the charming atmosphere of Chania Town’s Old Venetian Harbor or the fortresses and monasteries of Rethymonon. The awesome Minoan ruins of Malia date to 1900 BC, and majestic Mt. Ida is said to be home to the cave where Zeus was born.

I only stayed here for one night but from the moment I got off the bus from Chania until I boarded the ferry, they provided me with everything I needed. From directions to the place to taxi phone numbers and excellent suggestions for local eatery, Hector was very helpful, patient and spoke several languages. This is a very clean and friendly place, not to mention the location. Would definitely stay here again.

I got there by chance, meeting Stylianos a representative of authentic Cretan hospitality, convinced me to stay in a hostel for the first time in my life. I don't regret it at all. For only 25€ per night, I stayed in a separate bedroom of the flat on the first floor, it even had a nice kitchen which I used for cooking & enjoyed my meal at the veranda which has a surprisingly wonderful sea view, there is a bbq also. I visited Platanos village, "Mouraki" tavern with a spectacular view of Falasarna beach from above, breathtaking! Falasarna has all the beach bars & the sea is crystal clear, definitely worth visiting more than once! Balos lagoon is unbelievable & the most exotic place in Greece I have ever been, you should definitely visit by boat trip, Stylianos will take you to the harbor of Kasteli no charge! There are buses just in front of this hostel, you have easy access to everything. The owner is one of a kind, always there to help you with everything you want to know about the area & all the wonderful places around it, always with a smile, he will offer you limonchello & lots of useful advices. Kasteli (Kisamos) is the ideal place to get a room if you want to visit Balos exotic lagoon, Falasarna & Elafonisi (pink sand!!) because is the closest place there combining all the shops, taverns & restaurants. Staying in Kasteli gives you the chance to visit all those places more that once, something that you won't have the time to do if you stay in the city of Chania. I believe that Kasteli is a hidden diamond & in the near future it will have all the investments & the 5* hotels it deserves. I plan to visit again.

What a great way to spend your holidays here on Crete Island at the most popular getaways here in Chania!...Just 10 minute walk to city centre or 2 minute bus ride. Chania Hostel is an old historical 1800's rustic building newly designed and offers you budget bed & breakfast every day of the year for you traveling either alone or with family/friends. We offer 20 comfortable bunk beds...
The hostel is lovely interior and probably good for staying one or two nights, but hardly can be considered best and decent option for acquaintance with lovely Chania. It has problems with cleanliness, and it has problems with plumbing, which is frustrating. Frustrating because of cool antique decoration that is totally turned off by this trivial things. Also I didn't like the hostel was overcrowded and they put additional beds to the room, which are not big itself, making it even smaller. I wish them to fix these issues and all the best!

Welcome to Kumba ! When an African girl and a Cretan guy decide to open a hostel! Kumba happens! We created Kumba with the idea of integrating the African and Cretan cultures into a one world friendly Hostel. Kumba is located in the heart of Chania, where you can enjoy the old city vibes on a budget. We offer 5 dormitories, 6 private rooms and a cafe bar that has the best coffee around! All rooms are uniquely designed to maximise comfort and to ensure our friends have everything they need. Kumba has taken that step towards being eco-friendly by encouraging recycling and by using eco-friendly products.
Kumba is just SO welcoming , and it’s location and facilities are fabulous … the pod-bed system in the dormitory rooms works fine .. a personal light + charging point , great roller-blinds for privacy … and , due to the really positive atmosphere / culture created by Molly + Jho - the owners / managers - every visitor respects the facilities + the other guests … The social / chill-out spaces are many + varied … and it is REALLY positive that a deliberate decision has been made to make Kumba a focal point of the local community… thus , every day , local teenagers / young adults use the cafe-bar + relaxation areas , chatting , doing studying work , playing backgammon + other games , and just chilling … a joy to be a part of the genuine Chania community , and NOT closeted away in a hermetically sealed ‘international tourists only’ bubble ( Hi , Cocoon !! ) BUT … it is the KUMBA girls - the young women who staff the reception / cafe-bar - who make this fabulous place so special - friendly , ever-helpful , good English , a sense of camaraderie/ fun … Lilli , Effie , Katerina , Ornelka + Flora ( .. who has the most amazing Medusa tattoo on her upper arm .. beautiful .. !! ) are the ones who make Kumba REALLY special … plus the Kumba Cats , too … !!!

THE MANSION ARHONTIKO is 4-star traditional apartment Built in 1893, it is a fine example of 19th century inland Cretan architectureArhanes is a picturesque small town, built at an altitude of 380 meters [1280 ft] Arhanes is 14 kilometers away from the city of Heraklion and only 7 kilometers from the Palace of Knossos. The greater area of Arhanes is most significant for its numerous archaeological sites.
The street address is not correctly spelled, the reception job is left to the nice old lady who does not speak English, no tea no coffee no bottled water in the kitchenette but raki, interior is beautiful but bedroom level has dampy odour, tricky bathroom, very beautiful courtyard. If you bypass booking.com you will probably get a quite lower price.

Cocoon City Hostel is a band new accommodation offering our guests a centrally located, budget friendly and comfortable accommodation in the historic city of Chania, Crete. Opened in 2017 we offer modern and stylish designs with eco friendly building materials. We look forward to having you as our guests!
Stayed in a female only dorm. Food is nice, low cost. Facilities are very clean. Staff extremely helpful. This is a very calm hostel. Lovely pool. Not all rooms have air con. No one tells you if balcony doors or windows are open- the air con switches off. Towel rental is €3. Only thing I can fault is they are very strict in no socialising in communal areas after 11pm- but for some people thar might be a positive

I really enjoyed spending my short vacations there! The place is ideal to take profit of the advantages of the location, since it is situated at the centre of the town. The interior of the hostel is recently renewed and the kitchen is functional. For those who are looking for a quite different experience in open air, dormitory accomodations are available at the roof terrace as well, which also provides enough space and peace for those who love yoga practicing, especially early in the morning. Most of all, though, by staying at Heraklion Youth Hostel you have the chance to meet with the authentic greek hospitality of the owners, who are constantly at he service of the visitors.

Restored hostels in a preservable village. Durable and equitable tourism. Organic cultures.Kamares is a complex of buildings of the 14th century protected by the ministry of culture, restored with natural materials situated in the heart of the preservable village of Maheri, in an area of a rare natural beauty. It combines traditional architecture with modern facilities. The complex is composed of five stone apartments, three villas and a large swimming pool among organic gardens.
We stayed there for a week and we enjoyed every minute in it! It is an ancient building, restored with care and emphasis in details! Excellent facilities, with very comfortable rooms where we felt as if we were at home! Kamares houses is in the heart of a tiny but picturesque village, only 5 minutes from the nearest beach and 25 km from Chania. We enjoyed the serenity of the small village as well as the variety of a number of choices during our stay concerning quality food, sea and visits at the nearest sites! As soon as we arrived in the appartment, we were happily surprised with bio-products (olive oil, fresh fruits, olives, tomatos) and a bottle of Cretan wine waiting for us. We totally relaxed and filled our 'batteries' beside the pool. The view towards the sea was magnificent from our balcony, especially at sunset! We will definitely come again!
