I arrived after a long day riding my motorbike and finding rude and unhelpful staff at different hotels. The lady at reception was a breath of fresh air, showed me the room and made check in as easy as possible. All the staff i met there were very polite and helful.

The lady who runs the hostel is very rude and not willing to help out. We were physically pushed out by the lady when we asked for extra blankets. She doesn’t speak a word of English, but is not willing to listen when you try get Google translate out. The beds are very hard but the rooms are very nice. Very good place to do washing and nice to stay if you’re not too concerned about being near to the Centre of town. The woman is just a nightmare to deal with

The Common Hostel is amazing. The building is modern and well maintained, with a welcoming lobby and front patio. The private rooms are very spacious and include everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hostel is located next to a nice cafe/restaurant, and there are numerous options well within walking distance. The staff at this hostel are some of the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met in my life. On my second day, I was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in serious injuries. Paul, Tina, and the evening receptionist (I didn’t catch her name) all went above and beyond to help me work through the process with the parties involved. Paul helped me make numerous calls over the two days, and I’m not sure what I would have done without his help. Paul and Tina both provided invaluable advice and helped put my mind at ease about how to handle the situation that I was currently facing. The evening receptionist went out of her way to help me get much-needed bandages from the local pharmacy and provided me with a number to call if I needed anything. I will forever be grateful for the staff at The Common Hostel. If you are ever in Chiang Mai, I hope you consider staying here. There is no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy your stay. If I could give this property 10 stars, I would. To the staff, thank you again for all of your help!

We did not get the rooms we ordered because they were double booked. Instead they gave us worse rooms and thought we would just be okay with it. They also mixed our all of our laundry together and the clothes we Got back were not clean at all.

Terrible. The owner and staff in general are quite rude. I forgot to take off my shoes on the verandah once, and he threatened to throw me out. Its basically outside, so it was not obvious I needed to remove my shoes. I decided to leave early. When it turns out I left my shoes behind, and phoned the owner, he was too lazy to even check if they were there. They were expensive shoes. Absolute disaster. I get the feeling he hates foreigners. He was not friendly at all.

My private room with own bathroom on 4th floor was nice however bathroom was a bit small and narrow. Thus, liquid soap and shampoo wasn't good. But it is not a big deal. Good Location indeed. Staff is friendly and helpful I'd like to stay again for my next trip. ;)

Cut short my stay here and basically driven out of the hotel by a hypersensitive guest constantly disturbing me and the hotel doing nothing about this. I've had the TV at a low volume to which I am able to hear. A hypersensitive guest checks in 2 rooms away and in consecutive nights has banged on my door and have had the hotel disturb me the next night after falling asleep with the TV on. Walls are very thin and I can also hear activities outside but don't think it's fair to ask anyone to tiptoe around me so was bothered when this is being asked of me. For the first 5 nights when other guests were staying on the floor and before this selfish guest checked in 2 rooms away there were no problems. Hotel did nothing to help and felt I was going to be bothered every night by this selfish guest that the hotel were desperate to please, so I managed to get the rest of my stay back and had to look for another hotel at 3am for the next door. Internet was also cutting off frequently. Not worth the hassle staying here. Awful service and awful hotel.

I really enjoyed my 8 nights I ended up staying here. The staff and owners were so nice to me and gave me drinks and even a nice bread roll filled with bacon one night. I felt so welcome and the place is lovely. Good wifi. Great clean big pool. Perfect location. I'll stay next time in Chiang Mai for sure! I liked the pet dogs too!
