Golden Frog Mountain is a very typical house located in the dowtown of Manizales in the third floor of the first "shopping Center" of Manizales more than 100 years ago. This hostel is an invitation to live in a typical coffee region house, its colorfull doors and windows, flowers all around the property, an area of hammocks to relax in a salon with a very natural atmosphere, this hostel located in downtown is the best welcome to the coffee region. In General our aim is to offer rooms with a lot of space for our guests, we have 4 dorms, 2 Female dorms with maximum 4 beds in 2 bunkbeds and 2 Mixed Dorms with maximum 4 beds per room. We offer 2 rooms for two person in two twin beds with shared bahroom, Two Double Beds with King Size bed with shared bathroom, one room for three person in single beds with private bathroom and 3 Double Bed Room with King Size bed and Private Bathroom.
A great place to stay with very helpful and welcoming host and hostess. Really spacious and comfortable communal rooms, delicious breakfast and very good bedrooms and bathroom. Hot shower with good water pressure. The hostess went out of way to arrange tours the national park and hot springs for us and to suggest good places to visit. Nice sociable atmosphere. Excellent.

Everything was perfect. Our room was huge, very clean and with big windows looking at the city. Location is on the walking distance to the city center and cable car (15min), but there are also regular buses (every minute) heading towards town. The owner is extremely friendly. She speaks only Spanish but speaks very slow and clear so it's not a problem to understand her. She gave us many useful information and prepared us delicious breakfast.

Hostal Andino Mirador, situated opposite the Founders Park, was born in September 2013 as a family initiative, offering great peace and comfort in spacious, warm environments. It is located in the historicpart of the city, the Kumanday commune, 80 steps from cablecar Founders, diagonal to the Convention Center Founders where they carry out national and international events such as the International Festival of Theatre, Feria de Manizales, plus various shows and concerts. El Mirador Hostal Andino has two private rooms with private bathroom and tv, wifi, tv and games room, an equipped to service the guest kitchen, six dormitories with capacity for 7, 6, 5,3 and 4 people respectively; with private bathroom and Fonda makes Mirador and from where you can appreciate the Nevados and much of the city of Manizales. Besides, we are near some malls, and some tourist attractions, among them the Cathedral and its wonderful polish corridor, a viewer.
This place is wonderful! It is very unassuming when you see the front door, but then walking up the steps into a gorgeous, well cared for, and interesting decorated space. The hosts were very kind and accommodating. We stayed in a three bed room with an attached shower, although the water didn't get too warm. That's not a problem, as there are three shared bathrooms/showers that are clean, spacious, and have plenty of hot water! The roof top terrace is wonderful (both day and night) for looking out over Manizales. The property sells beer on site, which is nice. It seems to be in an ok part of town, but we came across a few suspect individuals while walking around at night (around 8 pm). There is a delicious restaurant a block down and across the street for authentic Colombian food. I would highly recommend this property for individuals or travel with friends or family.

We've spend five nights in private room - there was one bed for two people and a bunk bed for another two. It was only two of us, so it was okay, but for four people it would be a very small room. It was also rather dark, with a window to a small yard with community kitchen. Both room and the bathroom was very clean, everything was changed and cleaned every day. There are cameras in the public spaces and reception was staffed 24/7, so we've felt very safe (Manizales is very safe in general). Community kitchen is huge and has all the basic ammenities, it's also okay to order "domicilios" (food delivery). There's a very nice terrace outside, so you can eat your dinner there and even get some beers from the reception for the usual turist price. Staff was very nice and welcoming, but they do not speak almost any English, so you can sharpen your Spanish. They are unfortunately not very helpful regarding tours and similar stuff. On the plus side, you can buy some postcards (not very common!) and souvenirs at the reception. Breakfast, included in the room price, was very simple and not very good (eggs with arepa or cereals with a not very good yoghurt). If you are looking for cheap private room or a dorm in Manizales, I can recommend it.

We are located in the neighborhood of La Estrella in Manizales Caldas two blocks from the cable sector (pink area), the strategic location allows us to be one block from the stadium (Palo grande), the coliseum major, minor coliceo and the university sector; Less than 10 minutes from the terminal of ground transportation and air transport, near the best restaurants and nightclubs in the city. WELCOME
We stayed 4 nights at this hostal, and it felt like home. When we arrived the staff helped us plan out our activities for our stay, including some complex phone calls to work out logistics of access permits and out-of-town taxis. They were incredibly helpful, and our activities went very smoothly and well (Nevado del Ruiz and Rio Blanco). The hostel itself is very clean and tidy, with a great kitchen and hot showers. As a bonus if you're a birder there's a band-winged nightjar that sings from the block somewhere, right in the city! Great location in Manizales, near tons of restaurants/bars, coffee shops, a grocery store, mall and atms. About a $5,000-6,000 peso taxi from the bus terminal.

Mountain Hostels Manizales, it's at the moment the result of more that 8 years of experience, that born at first as "MOUNTAIN HOUSE" and "MANIZALES HOSTEL",and since 2012 has evolve to a new place, with a new house keeping the traditional one, and thinking all time about friendly staff, Cleanliness, rates, touring options and service quality.Growing to improve.
Manizales is a bit of a bizarre layout. The location of the hostel is fine, all told, a short stiff walk from Cable Plaza Mall (nowhere near the cable-car by the way) in Zona Rosa, where there are a couple of bars. It's a heckuva hike along a bony ridge, drops to north & south, into the centre with its mammoth cathedral & promethean Simon Condor statue, then up to the sundown mirador at Torre Chipre. Quite SciFi. (You can easily bus this route, but nothing like the hike to get a feel for a place.) Then of course there's the long teleferico down to the bus terminal. May not be the prettiest city, but Manizales is dramatic where other earthquaked concretes like Armenia & Pereira aren't. The hostel was a better base than might be thought from the map. Five or so mins puff, and a bus outside "Cable'' joins the dots to the upper teleferico station, downtown & on to the mirador. Spreadeagled, but well linked. I have reception ladies down as Saira & Beatriz - please forgive me if I am wrong, but you were both very kind and welcoming. Your hostel was comfortable & clean and gave me bags of space to loll out and relax after being a bit footsore from the day before. And WiFi fine to stream the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa. A couple of characters about too: regards to Paul Chan from Jam, and Jon from Grenoble, here on a mission to trace his birth parents. Such varied memories of Manizales (and many more; but can't waffle on past my characters quota). No Salento nor Jardin: a bit different.
