Known for its beer, sausages, Oktoberfest and lederhosen, Bavaria is Germany’s largest federal state and one of its most popular tourist destinations. It's also one of the most independent-minded regions. Home to cities like Munich (the capital) and Nuremberg, Bavaria is also cherished for its hilly countryside, where such gorgeous sites as Hohenschwangau Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle (the model for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland) and Linderhof and HerrenChiemsee Palaces can be found.

The Euro Youth Hostel in Munich enjoys a great location just 100m from the main station and a few minutes from the pedestrainized city center. The hostel is housed in a beautiful old building but has modern amenities (eg free wifi in all areas). Some of the biggest attaractions of the hostel are the fantastic international atmosphere at the lively hostel bar, the friendly, helpful and multilingual staff and the bright, clean and spacious rooms.
I stayed at a couple of different locations in Munich and this was by far the best one in terms of cost, cleanliness, location, WiFi, friendliness, facilities, etc. so much so that I ended up staying here a few times over a period of two months. The WiFi was amazing, I had 0 problems and I was able to work from my private room. They also have incredible facilities (5 euro laundry, 5.95 breakfast with eggs, ham, cheese, fruit, coffee, etc.), a bar, etc. The place was spotless and best of all, all of the staff were super friendly, helpful, and always there to answer questions. The city centre is 10 minutes away, and the main train station is less than 5 minutes away where you can find lots of supermarkets, etc. Definitely one of the best hostels I've been to in a long time. Cheers guys!

The hostel is very near the Munich hbf. I stayed here for two nights in a 6bed mixed dormitory. There were sheets provided. I like it that there is a lamp per bed so I do not have to turn on the light in the room when I am fixing my things. There is also outlet per bed. I can say that the hostel is quite clean. Downside is there is no bathroom per room. The toilet and bath is common for the whole floor. And they do not have hair dryer (have to bring your own). I also do not understand why our room has no curtains. On the up side, the staff were nice and they have an area downstairs with bar, pool table and darts. This is nice for socialization. Two stubs of free drink was also provided ?

'Of all the hostel-hotels popping up in Munich this pert little number does the best job in combining style with location. Past the glassed-in courtyard you'll find a friendly expat staff, pleasant if modular furnishings and private showers and toilets in every room.' (Lonely Planet) Welcome to our comfortable baby in Munich! We're just a stone's throw from the main train station which also serves as the major public transportation hub. It’s not much further to the old town (5 minute stroll or 2 stone throws) and we're within easy walking distance of the Oktoberfest grounds (if you still CAN walk…better don’t throw stones). We have amply dimensioned dormitories and most doubles come with their own terrace. We're especially proud of our air-conditioned, glass-roofed courtyard with real trees, real hammocks, semi-real (Beware of the wormholes!) beach chairs and beanbags. If you travel by car, you can park it in our basement.
The hostel itself is very clean, there is alot of space to move around, there is a bar on-site which is great for socialising and meeting new people, there is also an atrium in the middle which is huge and heated, it's like the outdoors brought inside with trees and nature then off this is a kitchen which is handy, as being a backpacker it's so much cheaper to cook. This is where things get a little sour......... The morning of my first day in Munich, my room-mate and I hired "Lime" E Scooters to get to where we wanted to go, while paying for this with my Australian card my bank blocked my card as an automated response, I had no euros on ne at the time was unable to call out of Germany from my phone so I was unable to call my bank to rectify the problen, so I was in a very bad situation at this point. I decided to make my way back to the hostel and ask if I could quickly borrow one of there office phones to call my bank, there was 3 women at the desk and the manager guy was out the back at his desk, the 3 girls all go back to ask him - He straight up said no. Didn't want to hear my situation, wouldn't even come out from the back to address me, just said no, so that is fine, he is well within his right to do so, I was in a very bad situation, no money, no cards, no phone and my accomodation was only paid for the next day. My room-mate eventually downloaded downloaded app to her phone that allowed us to call outside the EU to Australia where I was able to speak to my bank and the issue was rectified within 5 minutes. To the manager who left me in that situation, I say this: When we are travelling and we are 25,000kms from home, the hostels we stay at become our homes, you are the hosts and you become our temporary family, yes we pay you, but it should be more than that to you, you should have pride in the position you are in and you should want to make this experience as comfortable for us and yourself as possible, I was in such a bad situation and any one of you there could have helped me but you didn't care, one woman told me to walk down the street there might be a phone - which there wasn't - but are you serious!!?? I would never do that to anyone. Not one of you cared about me, you made my bad situation worse. I am in a foreign country, cannot speak the language, no money, no credit cards, no phone and you told me to walk down the street. I was so disappointed in humanity I just wanted to go home right then. To other backpackers I have this to say: I care alot aboit everyone and everyone in our backpacker/travelling community, I'd hate to know that if any one of you were in an emergency situation that you could possibly be treated with such carelessness and disregard for your basic human needs, I have so much respect for our travelling community that I'd HIGHLY suggest taking your money to a smaller place where you'd be treated properly and helped if you needed. There is literally nothing Wombats can say to make this better. Just nothing. F for Fail.

Welcome to Bavaria City Hostel! The recently opened Bavaria City Hostel is located in the pedestrian area of the romantic historic city center of Füssen. It is part of the ancient hotel „Zum alten Posthorn“, which was visited by different kings and emperors in the 18th Century. and thus turning it into a hotel again like in former times, we want to keep up an old family tradition .You can choose between our individually designed private rooms (rooms with double beds or two single beds) or a single bed in one of our spacious Shared rooms (4 – 9 beds). All rooms share clean showers and toilets in the halls, there are several shared bathrooms on each floor. Enjoy all the benefits of the central position of our hostel. The train station is located within three minutes walking distance. Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle can be reached by car or bus in 10 minutes. The surrounding landscape of the Allgäu is perfect for sightseeing and sporting activities like skiing, rock climbing, hiking and cycling.
This was by far the best hostel in town we have stayed in! Great attention is paid to hygiene and the rooms are very nicely furnished. The location of the hostel is very central. It is just an 8-minute walk to the train station.

Old Kings design hostel is located within Fuessen's medieval city walls and is only a 7 minute walk from the train station. Occupying a historic townhouse, Old Kings is where hip meets history: Relax in our King's Loft or Gryffindore dorms or enjoy the canopy bed in our "King of Dreams" double room. Meet other travellers over a drink at the communal table in our lounge or borrow a book from our library. And don't forget to grab one of our bikes to explore the crystal clear lakes, mountains and castle ruins that surround us. There is much more to Fuessen than just Neuschwanstein - the surrounding nature is a hiker's and biker's paradise with beautiful Bavarian villages and amazing mountain climbs almost starting at our door steps. And the baroque "Wieskirche", a Unesco World heritage site, is just around the corner.
I had booked a night in Old Kings hostel because my friend and I visited the Neuschwanstein Castle. The hostel is near the tourist spots and near the train station. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. He made our trip easier because he had explained which bus to ride (we bought our bus tickets in the hostel) to the castle and what to see around Füssen. We also availed their breakfast meal and it is tasty. We are overall satisfied with the service in Old Kings Hostel. I highly recommend it .

The hotspot for outdoor fansThe new Oberstdorf hostel is a trendy and inexpensive accommodation that is located in the Oberstdorf district Tiefenbach. From there you can directly start into the mountains and can experience the nature at first hand. Back in the Hostel there is a cool in- and outdoor Hostel games offer: climbing wall, slackline, boules, multifunctional sports area with volleyball, soccer and basketball, cinema and much more. The Hostel has trendy hostel dorms with shower/WC and mainly with balcony. An overnight stay includes always a delicious breakfast buffet as well as bedclothes and Wi-Fi. At check-in, you will get the bedclothes and can make the beds by yourself. A (lockable) cupboard belongs to every bed. To lock the cupboard you must bring a lock or you can buy a cool practical Hostel-lock at the reception. You must bring towels by yourself or you can loan some for a small fee at the reception. You can also book a bed in one of the hostel dorms that you share with other travelers. The rooms are different in size: there is everything - from the two bed room to the six bed room or a comfortable five bed dorm.In the evening, there is a modern cooking station and a barbecue to cook by oneself. But you can also easily book a dinner additional to your overnight stay.
Let´s start with the positives. - Friendly and helpful staff - Big rooms: decent bed, clean, good water pressure, - Great lounge areas: nice selection of drinks, etc..... - Nice extras: game room, table tennis room. Negatives: - Far away from the city centre, not recommended for people without car. - Cam be a tad loud. but it is a hostel. - pretty expensive price / quality wise. Overall a very enjoyable stay. Very recommendable

The Babelfish Hostel is placed opposite of the main train station. We combine the comfort and amenities of a low budget hotel with the characteristic easy-going and friendly atmosphere of a backpacker hostel. You`ll find it all, single beds in dorms, private rooms as well as apartments. The relaxed and sunny roof terrace is the highlight of every summer evening.
Well, one hostel had to be worst of my trip. I just wish it hadn't been quite SO bad. I could talk about their deceptive business practices. I could talk about the horrendous customer service. I could talk about the outrageous price. Instead I'll just say this. How on earth does a hostel only open their reception between 6pm and 8pm? You literally have two hours where you're allowed to check-in. Your train arrives at 4? Tough luck, gotta wait. Had a delay and arrived 8:30? Thanks for your money, but you ain't sleeping here. They don't even have a phone number in case any of their current guests have a problem. Lost your key or someone stole your wallet in the middle of the night? Good luck finding a bench to sleep on. They say it's because of covid, but covid exists in all of Europe. Are all the other hostels in Europe also closing at 8? Right, didn't think so. The reality is that this is because the manager is a cheapskate with zero regard for their guests.

On the outskirts of town in a mainly residential suberb. The Aparthotel has ample private parking and is within 100metres of a bakery and Italian Resuarant so fine for a day or two. About 200/300 metrs away round corner regular bus service into town with stops at Main Station and near City Centre. The Old Town is a Short Walk from Centre. Not much else round about but not really a problem. As stated by others no staff on site and coded key boxes for access. OUr room was on Ground Floor. Clean modern and minimalist but with adequate crockery and cutlery to make snacks etc or even full meals if desired. Water Dispenser in Lobby providing both still and sparkling chilled water so top up bottles etc for trips or just to drink in the room. Comfy Clean and convenient (if happy to take bus (quite frequent) on a 5 to 10 minute journey into town. Bus service starts early and there is even a late night service so you can leave car and go into town for meal and drinks at night..

A castle, a museum and a spectacular view. Plus, of course: culture at its best! That's what to expect at Passau Cultural Hostel in the Veste Oberhaus castle. High above the city, you will reside inside time-honoured walls. Marvel at the stars through the telescopes at the observatory and delve deep into Passau's history. Be tempted to a steam boat tour, an outing to the Bavarian Forest or an idle afternoon in the sun at the Ilzstausee barrier lake - and, of course, a leisurely walk through Rosengasse, Theresienstrasse et cetera. A must for all those who like it peaceful, yet lively. Welcome to Passau Youth Hostel!
My wife, 2 small children and I arrived after a very long trip from Canada. Upon arrival, my 5 month and 2 year old children were welcomed completely and the crazy steep approach road gave us a good challenge on our bicycles! I recognize that the standards for hostels in Europe are higher than in North America but this hostel is simply incredible! located in one of the older castles around, the setting, building, rooms and location are simply perfection. Keven, the Manager, and the night lady who checked us in were friendly, welcoming and very informative. I went for a short walk at sunset with my 2 year old and after 5 minutes realized the hostel had probably the best view in the city and Passau is so beautiful. Food was plentiful and the kitchen staff were friendly. Mattresses were comfertable, walls were thick and soundproof (which was great because our child was having a hard time getting used to the new time zone) Seriously, I can't even imagine how someone could give this hostel anything less than 5 stars. If you've done any travel in hostels you will realize this for the incredible experience it is: highly HIGHLY recommended!
